I remember this. Its why i herald wolfenstien 2 as one of my most hated games. The 20 minute opening you cant skip, dying late into it. That one time i decides to go for a piss during the hitler cutscene forgetting if you stand around too long after they kill you. That made me very angry

i got this back on my xbox when it first came out and oh man how different some of the strats are now. over 2 dozen attempts it took but it got me into the sick twisted addiction of perma-death trophy hunting. congrats though, your blood pressure will never recover but an amazing feat it is to say you beat this trophy
I am glad i am not the only who found mein leiben easier than expected, sure i had some bad deaths like falling of the map where you have to shoot the fan in the final level But in all honestly i think the reason people the diffuculty so hard is because people me included tend to panic fully when a strategy goes wrong but when i realized you can just go camp in corner in most places the game became way easier And yes the courthouse is one of the easist levels period for me , i never died to it the only level that i think is actually BS is venus cause if a stategy goes wrong at the later half of the level (Mainly the stupid Belt section you can kiss the run goodbye) this was an amazing video to watch even after beating mein leiben its always fun watching peoples journey in beating mein leiben its one has different low and high points but all end in that satysfying final kill of the game with the hachet

@@thegreyscott I been back to running mein leiben myself first run made it all the way past the courthouse then got lit up in the back its amazing how well you can improvise without dying and yeah wish you luck too if you re run mein leiben its such a fun run to replay besides the unskibable cutscenes off course
Seeing you struggle with all the controller skill issues and finding out it's only a 3 hour run even if you go slow without skips has inspired me to try it for myself. I'm already at the reactor in Roswell after 4 attempts.

Have completed this on two consoles and on PC. First getting it was like butter on a hot pan, so fucking good. Now I just do aggressive playthroughs on Mein Leben. No silencers; always assault rifles with full attachments before the mid game starts.

Mein Leben is already pretty difficult, but then adding the challenge of playing in a different language (maybe you know German?) and not getting the pivotal overcharge health upgrade that allows you to keep 200 health into encounters is pretty crazy. Nice job on the clear.
An achievement/gamemode that makes you camp, exploit the game's mechanics to the fullest, and it _still_ is unfair as fuck? Pushing players to play the game in a way that isn't enjoyable is probably not the best idea any dev has ever had. I've played New Order on hardest and it at least seems fair and you can even go in guns blazing if you're good enough. Never tried it on iron man, though.

Well put together video. What I love about it, is your approach. The title is good! You had me in the first part, ngl. But I agree, if you put in the hours of work, Mein Leben becomes manageable. I beat Mein Leben in August after 50 tries (two months of intense practice). I agree, there are many strategies, that make it easy to beat it, but it still requires patience and a little bit of luck, since RNG is the player’s biggest enemy. I even learned some things about the game, that surprised me (that skip in Manhattan, for example). But you were way to wreckless for my taste. I also related with that one fall during the Bunker skip (I have two deaths in that area, but zero «stuck in an object» deaths.) Now, I gotta figure out, how to install the German version of Wolfenstein 2 and do it all over again. Fantastic game. You earned a sub from me!

The getting stuck reminds me of Dying Light 2. The parkour in that game is insanely janky, and I get stuck a lot. Never played the first one (even though I have it) so I don't know if it's the same.
Mein Leben is easily the hardest trophy I've ever earned when considering skill, momentum, pacience and luck. I didn't use any skips or clipping through walls when I obtained it so maybe to me I would say is a 10/10 difficulty. But even for you that used a bunch of "tricks" the trophy proved to be a tough challenge so I digress with your rating.
Well yeh absolutely, it's still hard 100%. My point with the video is to encourage more people to try it because it's fun and nowhere near as impossible as everyone claims it to be.
@thegreyscott Yes this trophy is indeed very doable and fun. I earned other perma death trophies before and this one was the one I struggled the most because u r being attacked to whole time, as oppose to Alien Isolation, TLOU II and Outlast II that are very stealthy games, so u can bypass danger situations easily.
As someone who completed my Mein Leben run without knowing any of the speedrun-techniques or clipping bits until seeing this video I am both a bit smug as to have not needed them and somewhat annoyed to have missed them.
Absolutely, that's why me and chat made it into a bit every time. Unfortunately all of those had to get cut from the video because of the use of copyrighted music lol
The only reason this achievement is terrible is unskippable cutscenes. I did death incarnate with very few issues, but having to watch 20 minutes of cutscenes every try really pissed me off.
@@thegreyscott made me put it on pause after like 5-6 tries. Especially if you die hours in and you have to restart and stew in anger waiting for cutscenes to end. Neither is there a mod that allows you to skip them.

i finished new order on highest difficulty, but never got to next games, and i was looking for the hard fights here there doesn't seem to be fight like last one from new order that's kinda bullshit mechanics nor big robot one, at most courthouse and all look like new orders helicopter hangar or that underground railroad part, but tbh, enemies don't seem to be so much of a bullet sponges here but i bet it would take many attempts from anyone even with cheese
Absolutely, no bosses here really, just a lot of heavy execution in certain spots of the game. Many attempts were had, but we got it in the end! Congrats on your completion of New Order though!

I do believe that mein Leben isn’t as hard as everyone says but I still think it’s a 10/10. As of me writing this comment I’ve gotten to the final mission once before and anyone wanting to attempt this trophy has to face that you will fail when you least expect it. But that’s just my opinion.
Hey I respect it, honestly I think where my personal rating of 8 is coming from is having done it twice so the experience is there. If it was my first time, I'd probably be thinking the same, so there's very likely a bias for me haha
Actually, the out of bounds clips don't really requiere skill, they require fps. The higher the fps, the most likely you are to have a sucessful skip. No ammount of skill can break the ps4's 60 fps cap. I'm the world record holder for glitchless mein leben on pc btw. I'm now trying to go for ps4 any% mein leben.

@@thegreyscott I just discovered two days ago while trying it on pc and toggling different fps. Haven't seen anybody else comment about it so it's impossible you knew lol. My WR run is actually not optimized at all and it uses many strats that where outdated years ago. I now have better knowledge of the game which I need because shooters on ps4 are really tough. I pretty much completed my pc run for just being a crackhead and running over everithing, watching it back is actually kinda crazy how I never searched for safer strats lol. With ur run I also learned a few things that will help me, particularly your set up for the bunker oob may be consistant for 60 fps. The set up I knew was looking to the other side and it was almost impossible to do in ps4 so I just did the whole level which is not so difficult but when you need many runs cutting time is really helpful. I also discovered a better set up for venus oob which you did not do in this run (I imagine because the normal set up is almost impossible on ps4.) Also to mention that some of your explanations for getting caugh are not 100% correct. Bullets in this game make noise on impact and thats's the reason enemies sometimes get alerted.
just a question i wanna do this but when you start a mein leben run do you need to upgrade all the weapons again? or can you just do it with the same save file?
I do agree with you that Mein Leben is not hard as people see it. The only real difficulty of that mode is that any mistake can be fatal and send you to the beginning of the game. Well maybe another difficulty is having to watch unskippable cutscenes for 15 min every time you start a new run. I honestly do not understand why developers did not think about that problem or did not add the option to skip those in a patch. Mein Leben is the ultimate test of your skills and knowledge of the game and if you DO have those and know what you are doing, this mode does not present any substintial challenge. However, people simply jump straight into that difficulty without any preparation, die several times on the first few levels and then go to the internet complaining how the difficulty is insanely hard and you cannot even quit the game because there are no saves. I personally started with doing Mein Leben for the DLCs first to have more experience and get the idea of what that difficulty is about before getting to the main challenge. I finished first and second DLCs on the 2nd attempts, and the third on 5th. It could actually be first or second but I got too confident with myself and did not really train for the last DLC which was a big mistake. I also played through all the levels of each DLC, not just the final ones, and did start over from the first level if I died. I am all for using glitches and skips to make the process more fun but that kind of skip was so ridiculously easily that I felt I was actually skipping the entire challenge. As for the main game, I spent about a week training on Death Incarnate and played 3-4 hours every day. I found the reliable strats and learnt to perfom them consistently enough until I could get through the entire game on Death Incarnate. I did not actually played through the entire game several times not to waste time on cutscene and just loaded save files of the most difficult levels. Then I started trying to do Mein Liben. I got my winning run on the 5th attempt: on the 1st one I tried to yolo the last Manhattan harbor section and died (I actually did not know about that jump that lets you skip the trigger that spawns enemies), on the 2nd one I fell into the pit under the moving platform in Roswell, on the 3rd one I got stuck in textures and a grenade killed me, the 4th run I killed myself during Roswell because i was tired and dissatisfied with my performance. All my deaths were pretty stupid and I never actually died because of using a strategy or failing stealth. From what I saw in your video, you made 2 significant mistakes. 1) You were using submachine guns for stealts instead of pistols. Even though they are automatic their damage output is pretty low even with all the upgrades and the bullet spread is high. Their efficiency is very inconsisten and that is something you cannot afford on a run like this. A clean headshot with pistols is a much more reliable method which does not require any super skills. Even if you somehow miss the head you can always spam the trigger and quickly kill an enemy with 3-4 shots in the torso before they start the alarm. 2) You did not have backup strats in case you failed stealth. Almost each section has a more or less reliable combat strat for that case. Of course it still largely depends on how the enemies will approach you and how many grenades you get in your face but having those strats and an ability to save the run is much better than frantically running around the level trying to come up with a solution on the go. It is also very helpful because one thing I noticed about the Mein Leben is that for some reason enemy AI acts a bit differently even though this difficulty must be identical to Death Incarnate. Nonetheless, in my runs I noticed enemy behaviours that I never encountered during my practice. Like a soldier standing firmly on one spot instead of doing patrol, or enemies forever sitting in covers instead of running directly at you. I am not sure whether there is really a difference in AI or I just got lucky with bugs but having a back-up strat for a run like this is a must. Another thing I noticed is that your strats for Mesquite and final battle are pretty yolo. Sure, you managed to peform them but I personally would not risk losing the entire run (especially at the final section) due to the bad luck and would rather keep to safer and more consistent strategies. You also could use the same Ausmerzer skip on the final level as it helps to skip the enemy spawning trigger. All in all, I think if you used pistols, had back-up strats and did put more time into practice and training you could have significantly decreased the number of failed runs. Still, congratulations with that achievement. And, yeah, I still DO think people are overreacting about Mein Leben - if you know what you are doing, what to expect, and can finish the entire game on Death Incarnate without dying Mein Leben is hardly a challenge.
Is there anything special to know to be able to do the skip in manhattan at around 8:15? Is it just crouch under the debris, stand back up and sprint jump from the small space to stand on?
Yes! So I actually landed in the wrong spot but still got away with it in this attempt. What you should do is about halfway through your jump is hold right so that you land on that flat molding of the building and then run into the next area. If you hold right the entire time you're in the air, you're gonna bounce off the building and have to deal with the enemies of this area on high alert. IF that happens, there's a big piece of concrete where you land that you can take cover behind and lean out of to take out every enemy that runs to you as they can only get to you from one access point. You're likely gonna have to bait them to come over to you but it's Mein Leben, gotta do what you gotta do. Practice the jump on lower difficulties first, like make a save right at the start of Manhattan so you can keep going back to practice this! Hope this helps!

I’m in process of making various saves, on my main account and on an alt, just so I can practice just about every start of a level, and the really scary encounters. I’ll have to give this skip a few tries tonight after work, it seems super valuable just because it skips/clears out enemies as well.
Worked like a charm, I didn’t realize it until I played it myself, you initially can stand up on the right side of the busted fire escape, but there’s actually room to get to the left hand side so you can almost run towards that molding diagonally. Much appreciated man. Good strat.
Man, if only I had seen this video before I beat Mein Leben. Especially because there are some way better strategies here than in the 2 hour mein leben guide some other guy uploaded that all the big trophy hunters use. Took me 100 hours and 47 attempts cause I couldn't be bothered to practice, seriously could have been less if I saw this sooner
To be fair, I did get a lot of my strats from the same video on top of a lot of the top speedrunners like trailerofdead. I personally can't take credit for like 95% of the strats but thank you very much, it does mean a lot!
Yeh he's a bit temperamental, since him and a drone are usually the last ones alive, I usually just peak slightly out of the trash can and unload on him with the rifles. I do take damage most times but he SHOULD go down. If he's stomping you while you're sitting in the trash can BEFORE you peak then you're sitting the trash can incorrectly.
@@thegreyscott oooooh gotcha, ok I'll try that. Oh and for courthouse, after sitting under the table with the shotgun I was unsure when to leave the main room until those big guys showed up again and I killed two but after killing a dog I instantly died to another big guy.
if there’s any recommendation i can give for your next platinum it’s definitely be resident evil 2, it’s an overall pretty challenging platinum (in my own opinion) and i love that fucking game.

I actually have this trophy, but I didn't do it legit. I stumbled across an online save that puts you in the TV studio and allows you to get the trophy. this definitely made it a bronze to me because the only danger is Engel. I know that this is cheating but I just wanted to save my sanity unlike those who have died in the supersoldat/zurstorer final battle. I don't even understand why this trophy was in here considering that the difficulty was in The Old Blood which is a mostly easy plat and didn't have a trophy for mein leben.
I hope I'm not pressuring, just sick and tired of this bullshit trophy, died on the last level to BS twice, TWICE. You do not know how much easier my life would be, thanks.

The getting stuck reminds me of Dying Light 2. The parkour in that game is insanely janky, and I get stuck a lot. Never played the first one (even though I have it) so I don't know if it's the same.
Mein Leben is easily the hardest trophy I've ever earned when considering skill, momentum, pacience and luck. I didn't use any skips or clipping through walls when I obtained it so maybe to me I would say is a 10/10 difficulty. But even for you that used a bunch of "tricks" the trophy proved to be a tough challenge so I digress with your rating.
Well yeh absolutely, it's still hard 100%. My point with the video is to encourage more people to try it because it's fun and nowhere near as impossible as everyone claims it to be.
@thegreyscott Yes this trophy is indeed very doable and fun. I earned other perma death trophies before and this one was the one I struggled the most because u r being attacked to whole time, as oppose to Alien Isolation, TLOU II and Outlast II that are very stealthy games, so u can bypass danger situations easily.

The only reason this achievement is terrible is unskippable cutscenes. I did death incarnate with very few issues, but having to watch 20 minutes of cutscenes every try really pissed me off.

i finished new order on highest difficulty, but never got to next games, and i was looking for the hard fights here
there doesn't seem to be fight like last one from new order that's kinda bullshit mechanics nor big robot one, at most courthouse and all look like new orders helicopter hangar or that underground railroad part, but tbh, enemies don't seem to be so much of a bullet sponges here

I do believe that mein Leben isn’t as hard as everyone says but I still think it’s a 10/10. As of me writing this comment I’ve gotten to the final mission once before and anyone wanting to attempt this trophy has to face that you will fail when you least expect it. But that’s just my opinion.
Hey I respect it, honestly I think where my personal rating of 8 is coming from is having done it twice so the experience is there. If it was my first time, I'd probably be thinking the same, so there's very likely a bias for me haha

@@thegreyscott Ya there are a surprising amount of glitches in wolf 2 some good and some bad but I know I can beat it I’m so close.
Actually, the out of bounds clips don't really requiere skill, they require fps. The higher the fps, the most likely you are to have a sucessful skip. No ammount of skill can break the ps4's 60 fps cap.

@@thegreyscott I just discovered two days ago while trying it on pc and toggling different fps. Haven't seen anybody else comment about it so it's impossible you knew lol. My WR run is actually not optimized at all and it uses many strats that where outdated years ago. I now have better knowledge of the game which I need because shooters on ps4 are really tough. I pretty much completed my pc run for just being a crackhead and running over everithing, watching it back is actually kinda crazy how I never searched for safer strats lol. With ur run I also learned a few things that will help me, particularly your set up for the bunker oob may be consistant for 60 fps. The set up I knew was looking to the other side and it was almost impossible to do in ps4 so I just did the whole level which is not so difficult but when you need many runs cutting time is really helpful. I also discovered a better set up for venus oob which you did not do in this run (I imagine because the normal set up is almost impossible on ps4.)
Also to mention that some of your explanations for getting caugh are not 100% correct. Bullets in this game make noise on impact and thats's the reason enemies sometimes get alerted.
just a question i wanna do this but when you start a mein leben run do you need to upgrade all the weapons again? or can you just do it with the same save file?
Every Mein Leben attempt is a completely fresh file. Nothing carries over, have to start from nothing every time.

I do agree with you that Mein Leben is not hard as people see it. The only real difficulty of that mode is that any mistake can be fatal and send you to the beginning of the game. Well maybe another difficulty is having to watch unskippable cutscenes for 15 min every time you start a new run. I honestly do not understand why developers did not think about that problem or did not add the option to skip those in a patch. Mein Leben is the ultimate test of your skills and knowledge of the game and if you DO have those and know what you are doing, this mode does not present any substintial challenge. However, people simply jump straight into that difficulty without any preparation, die several times on the first few levels and then go to the internet complaining how the difficulty is insanely hard and you cannot even quit the game because there are no saves.
I personally started with doing Mein Leben for the DLCs first to have more experience and get the idea of what that difficulty is about before getting to the main challenge. I finished first and second DLCs on the 2nd attempts, and the third on 5th. It could actually be first or second but I got too confident with myself and did not really train for the last DLC which was a big mistake. I also played through all the levels of each DLC, not just the final ones, and did start over from the first level if I died. I am all for using glitches and skips to make the process more fun but that kind of skip was so ridiculously easily that I felt I was actually skipping the entire challenge.
As for the main game, I spent about a week training on Death Incarnate and played 3-4 hours every day. I found the reliable strats and learnt to perfom them consistently enough until I could get through the entire game on Death Incarnate. I did not actually played through the entire game several times not to waste time on cutscene and just loaded save files of the most difficult levels. Then I started trying to do Mein Liben.
I got my winning run on the 5th attempt: on the 1st one I tried to yolo the last Manhattan harbor section and died (I actually did not know about that jump that lets you skip the trigger that spawns enemies), on the 2nd one I fell into the pit under the moving platform in Roswell, on the 3rd one I got stuck in textures and a grenade killed me, the 4th run I killed myself during Roswell because i was tired and dissatisfied with my performance. All my deaths were pretty stupid and I never actually died because of using a strategy or failing stealth.
From what I saw in your video, you made 2 significant mistakes.
1) You were using submachine guns for stealts instead of pistols. Even though they are automatic their damage output is pretty low even with all the upgrades and the bullet spread is high. Their efficiency is very inconsisten and that is something you cannot afford on a run like this. A clean headshot with pistols is a much more reliable method which does not require any super skills. Even if you somehow miss the head you can always spam the trigger and quickly kill an enemy with 3-4 shots in the torso before they start the alarm.
2) You did not have backup strats in case you failed stealth. Almost each section has a more or less reliable combat strat for that case. Of course it still largely depends on how the enemies will approach you and how many grenades you get in your face but having those strats and an ability to save the run is much better than frantically running around the level trying to come up with a solution on the go. It is also very helpful because one thing I noticed about the Mein Leben is that for some reason enemy AI acts a bit differently even though this difficulty must be identical to Death Incarnate. Nonetheless, in my runs I noticed enemy behaviours that I never encountered during my practice. Like a soldier standing firmly on one spot instead of doing patrol, or enemies forever sitting in covers instead of running directly at you. I am not sure whether there is really a difference in AI or I just got lucky with bugs but having a back-up strat for a run like this is a must.
Another thing I noticed is that your strats for Mesquite and final battle are pretty yolo. Sure, you managed to peform them but I personally would not risk losing the entire run (especially at the final section) due to the bad luck and would rather keep to safer and more consistent strategies. You also could use the same Ausmerzer skip on the final level as it helps to skip the enemy spawning trigger.
All in all, I think if you used pistols, had back-up strats and did put more time into practice and training you could have significantly decreased the number of failed runs. Still, congratulations with that achievement. And, yeah, I still DO think people are overreacting about Mein Leben - if you know what you are doing, what to expect, and can finish the entire game on Death Incarnate without dying Mein Leben is hardly a challenge.

Is there anything special to know to be able to do the skip in manhattan at around 8:15? Is it just crouch under the debris, stand back up and sprint jump from the small space to stand on?
Yes! So I actually landed in the wrong spot but still got away with it in this attempt. What you should do is about halfway through your jump is hold right so that you land on that flat molding of the building and then run into the next area. If you hold right the entire time you're in the air, you're gonna bounce off the building and have to deal with the enemies of this area on high alert. IF that happens, there's a big piece of concrete where you land that you can take cover behind and lean out of to take out every enemy that runs to you as they can only get to you from one access point. You're likely gonna have to bait them to come over to you but it's Mein Leben, gotta do what you gotta do. Practice the jump on lower difficulties first, like make a save right at the start of Manhattan so you can keep going back to practice this! Hope this helps!

I’m in process of making various saves, on my main account and on an alt, just so I can practice just about every start of a level, and the really scary encounters. I’ll have to give this skip a few tries tonight after work, it seems super valuable just because it skips/clears out enemies as well.
Worked like a charm, I didn’t realize it until I played it myself, you initially can stand up on the right side of the busted fire escape, but there’s actually room to get to the left hand side so you can almost run towards that molding diagonally. Much appreciated man. Good strat.

Man, if only I had seen this video before I beat Mein Leben. Especially because there are some way better strategies here than in the 2 hour mein leben guide some other guy uploaded that all the big trophy hunters use. Took me 100 hours and 47 attempts cause I couldn't be bothered to practice, seriously could have been less if I saw this sooner
To be fair, I did get a lot of my strats from the same video on top of a lot of the top speedrunners like trailerofdead. I personally can't take credit for like 95% of the strats but thank you very much, it does mean a lot!
Tried oscar the grouch method and first time it worked but the next attempts there's this big guy who stomps the shit out of me 😩
Yeh he's a bit temperamental, since him and a drone are usually the last ones alive, I usually just peak slightly out of the trash can and unload on him with the rifles. I do take damage most times but he SHOULD go down. If he's stomping you while you're sitting in the trash can BEFORE you peak then you're sitting the trash can incorrectly.
@@thegreyscott oooooh gotcha, ok I'll try that. Oh and for courthouse, after sitting under the table with the shotgun I was unsure when to leave the main room until those big guys showed up again and I killed two but after killing a dog I instantly died to another big guy.
if there’s any recommendation i can give for your next platinum it’s definitely be resident evil 2, it’s an overall pretty challenging platinum (in my own opinion) and i love that fucking game.

I actually have this trophy, but I didn't do it legit. I stumbled across an online save that puts you in the TV studio and allows you to get the trophy. this definitely made it a bronze to me because the only danger is Engel. I know that this is cheating but I just wanted to save my sanity unlike those who have died in the supersoldat/zurstorer final battle. I don't even understand why this trophy was in here considering that the difficulty was in The Old Blood which is a mostly easy plat and didn't have a trophy for mein leben.

So Mein leben is easy if you use glitches, ok got it. its mainly dodgy AI that gets you, especially Venus. cant use logic on broken AI.
I wouldn't say easy, but an easier experience. Even still, without glitches Mein Leben is still pretty manageable. I mainly use skips to save time.
