Love Tesseract! War of Being is the 2023's best by a long distance for me.
I agree, War of Being is a phenomenal album, all the way through.
However, still, my favorite by them is their first album “One”… The 6 part song “Concealing fate is just superb, and is what made me fall in love with them many years ago

Awesome! You should definitely listen to the rest of the album. I think it’s sick.
This song is my personal favorite of the album because of the vocals especially, and I think it can grow on you after a few listens.
I do agree the mix is very thick, when I listen to it in a car it can be difficult to hear everything, it’s kinda messy. But I think that’s a part of the way TesseracT does their mixing in general. Because even though the mix is thick, it can elevate their sound and make it their own.
Recommendation: I think you should try Haken again! My personal favorite band.
I love their whole discography so anything would go.
Crystallised, Carousel, Nightingale, Beneath The White Rainbow, Veil, Atlas Stone.
Just to name a few. :)
Or if you’re interested in them I’d recommend listening to a whole album. As a first listen I think The Mountain would be good.

Yeah it's a concept album so all songs tie into each other to tell a story.
I think this song is masterful in every way, but I'm an experienced Tesseract-listener, hehe. The whole band's has evolved and progressed so much on this latest album, the singer in particular! Every song on the album is so well composed with tracks like "Burden", "Tender" and "Legion" being at the top for me. The title track is also amazing. Whole album is very soulful and organic sounding. Never forced or "too mechanical".
The concept behind it is massive, and is being created into a full game as we speak. War of Being is the battle within ourselves that never ends in our minds. Between who we are, who we want to be, who we were forced to become... The realm Strangeland in this concept is a representation of our mind. The characters Ex and El (fear and knowledge), got separated after they lost control and their ship "The Dream" crashes (as can be seen in this music video). Like dreams crashing in real life, forcing you to reflect over yourself. The characters in the story are splinters of the human mind. We have the inner child, our innocence, ideas and creativity. When we lose him we become depressed. The song "The Grey" is about that depressed state. It ends with the words "start your war!" It's not easy though, it means facing your fears, accepting them, and accepting who you are, which this song "Legion" is about.
The mechanical man in the song "Burden" is our armour that we built up during our life, all our defence mechanisms, all changes of our real self we've been force to do. Our burden, that we need to get rid of. The labyrinth we've seen in the logo is the human mind. In the middle of the labyrinth is truth, our true self, guarded by fear. To get through to our real self we need to tear the mask away, stop lying to ourselves, accept ourselves, collect knowledge (elevate my understanding) and battle our fears (the legion of samurais) and find our truth. That's when Ex and El will be reunited and we feel more whole. The last track "Sacrifice" is a move forward, we feel empowered, a ray of hope, but at the same time we have to deal with the sacrifices we made along the way, the sorrows, guilts, our past, that has shaped us. Conflicting emotions, a part of being human.

I'd say maybe this song wasn't as interesting for you, because the vocal was the focus and not the instrumentation.
Maybe, it might have been my mood at the moment. Upon further listens, I love it. Sometimes it takes a few run throughs. Thanks for hanging out, Todd
