ATP Tour asked Novak to occasionally lose tournaments here and there otherwise it would reduce public’s interest for men’s tennis. And Novak agreed to do that and let the boys win once in a while.

He had horrendous injuries while the courts were fast so his argument doesn't stand. Perhaps it would have been different if the balls were lighter because he would have played less having to rely on skill rather than height so the injuries wouldn't have followed.
