JJ asked the companies to do Trap Inlays on all the guitars. Notice the Strat and Tele have them, as well as the 335. PRS would NOT do it because of the lawsuit that was going on but did do Pink Birds.
What lawsuit was going on at the time?

I just had to read up on that. Unbelievable. Gibson is, by far, the greediest corporation in the industry. I was actually planning to purchase a Les Paul bass, but I will go with the ESP clone instead. I get the intellectual property argument which is valid to a point, but when it comes down to it, greed is greed. You don't see Fender suing every other company that make a strat shape body. I won't even buy a pick made by Gibson now.
@@Zer0basscovers You are overlooking the terms of the patents and what all they entailed. It isnt about greed, its about the language and term limits of the respective patents.

dont forget the ACTUAL price they paid is the gavel + 25%. So a 5k guitar actually cost 6250, plus sales tax, so in CA it was about $6800.

Me (Guitar Enthusiast): Pre War logo was rumored to return around that time so the guitar prototype had just that.
40 years ago I played with an L6-S in a group, I love it. Years later I was able to buy one but I had to sell it
Wonder if Gibson got into the auction to bring some of those historic pieces in for scanning.

Prototype guitars came from a stock of parts Hutch kept in his special part at the left side of the factory beyond the metal stairway to my office. For some reason the prototypes were the top line expensive model when I felt we could make more money starting with the bottom line and when we captured that demographic make the more expensive models and the early serial numbers would have brought more money the next year. I think it was all about immediate cash or you really can’t tell the prototype luthiers how to come up with a new product. An example was the LP lite in yellow that stayed in the showroom next to my office until I carried the lipstick yellow as we called it to winter NAMM. A few weeks later the sunburst showed up and I never saw the yellow one again. Artist were not impressed with the LP lite or US1 at that time.

I looked up the Foo Fighters show, and the guitar that Pat smashed was a cheap acoustic - changed from the guitar that Dave Grohl let Pat use. The smash was a practical joke on Dave, though.

I remember watching JJ French fronting Twisted Sister long before the days of Dee Snider and 'We're Not gonna Take it' when they played at Ubie's OTJ's in North Babylon Long Island. The club was dark and dank and they encouraged you to throw your peanut shells on the floor. I will always remember him saying, "The name of the band is Twisted Sister and don't you forget it!"
