    All the bs that modern football is so much faster. These two teams would make any team suffer today. To much quality all over the pitch especially that Arsenal side.

      I think the standard in fitness levels has gone up when you look at the bottom level player in the Premier League back then to bottom level now there's an increase in performance, but I think only from fitness pov. In terms of quality certainly not, Bergkamp playing in modern day football would still be the most technically gifted player on the pitch, Henry would still be gliding across the pitch like a sprinter leaving players for dead. Pires movement would still be too clever for most defenders playing today. There's certainly a decline in what is deemed world class footballers playing the game today. Easiest example is look at how many world class centre backs there are playing now compared to 15- 20 years ago. Most footballers ( not all ) seem more interested in the money, fame and instagram followers than trying to be the best anymore. That's why the less glamorous positions like Centre Back have such a shortage of World Class players. Of course it doesnt help they are changing how physical the game can be too, which is such a shame.

      This is still " modern " football. Today it is only faster when you compare today with the early 90s the 80s and before. But football started to level up around these times. Like Barcelona

      This is literally modern football. And yes it is faster as sport science increases, that’s just how it works.

      @RM-gr1mc Před 9 měsíci

      Back then not only was it fast, but it was more intense and aggressive. And teams were filled with absolute legends across europe. Talk about football of the highest quality and crazy competitive. Football started to go down since 2010s. Theres way less world class, legendary players and legendary teams. The "easiest" way to see this is with national teams. Theyve gotten so weak compared to 90s-2000s its not even funny! 🤷‍♂️

    I was always amazed by how long bergkamp played at the top level,usually u would see a player of his caliber drop off later on their career but bergkamp played until he was 37 and even at 34 here he was still a god in the pitch

    • @souster98
      @souster98  Před 3 lety +14

      He was more of a "main forward" up until around 2000 when his pace and explosiveness were declining and Henry started to come into his prime. Bergkamp then started to play deeper as a facilitator to Henry as his vision and passing were still elite, and after a weak 2000/01 season he came back into top form in the 2001/02 title run-in, and managed to have a few more top seasons even at the age of 35 in 04/05. One of the greatest ever for sure

      Outside England, Bergkamp is only "known" for THAT goal. Not even close to be one of the greatest ever with 0 Champions Leagues, 0 World Cups and 0 Ballon d'Ors. During the 2000s, La Liga was by far the best league with the superior players. Between 2000 and 2009, almost all the Ballon d'Ors were for La Liga players (Figo, Rivaldo, Zidane, Ronaldo, Cannavaro and Messi):

    Crazy how powerful all over the pitch this Arsenal team was. Especially in transition and in recovery. You can't underestimate how well and often they win their individual duels and how good their defenders were in 1v1 situations. Toure and Campbell were so dominant any time they had to step out and apply pressure onto an opposition striker. Bergkamp's technique vision and passing was out of this world. Never seen a player like Vieira who dominated the midfield both offensively and defensively. He was the epitemy of the near extinict box to box midfielder. No question this invincible side is the greatest team ever to grace the Premier league. Simply frienghthing to imagine them competing now even against the likes of Klopps strongest Liverpool line up.

    That season I swear Arsenal came from behind to beat Chelsea at least 3 times if I'm not mistaken and all by a 2-1 scoreline.
    I just remember being so confident that Arsenal would win even if they were 1-0 down to Chelsea.
    I remember in the pre match build up they were saying that arsenal had not lost to Chelsea since 1999. That changed during the champions league match ofc.

      Bergkamp could also score and lead. He is a complete player. Ozil on the other hand has only the passing side, they both create but still are so much different at least in my eyes.

    • @siberianTiger639
      @siberianTiger639 Před 5 lety +1

      But both when it comes to sheere vision and passing bergkamp is much better. Would you just look at that ball at 12:45?? Incredible. Bergkamp did it all the time. Ozil doesnt even see that pass lot of times, he usually plays quiye obvious passes, but even sometimes when he sees it he hesitates to make such a pass, I dont know why, maybe he's insecure he can make or something else...

    • @hanklesacks
      @hanklesacks Před 4 lety

      Jure Primorac Realized it with him as well, ozil only makes a through pass when he has no other choice. He rarely does it, but when he does do it, it comes off perfectly like the one for bellerin against leicester last season, it completely split their defense.
