  • For some flights in April, Delta is using an A350-900 between Los Angeles and Detroit. While the A350 regularly flies from Atlanta to LAX, the Detroit route is rare. Usually I get the sound right when filming these takeoff videos but occasionally I make a mistake and you will hear some in-and-out noise on the left ear piece due to a blockage of the microphone, but it is fixed shortly after takeoff! The new Midfield Satellite Concourse is making good progress along with Terminal 3, which you can see has a little while to go.
For a 4 hour flight, you can sit in Delta’s international Business Class product dubbed ‘Delta One’ along with Premium Select (for the price of comfort plus). A very quiet aircraft and overall good suite, especially during a night flight. The suite is vast with plenty of storage space although the IFE screen is fairly close. The seat is a larger version of JetBlue’s Mint product with a similar foot/ottoman area along with a sliding door. It definitely felt like the right product to do a long-haul flight on and with normal food service, I can imagine it would be a great flight. The workspace is decent as the suite is equipped with USB and regular power sockets although the tray table is also quite close to you so if you want work on your laptop, you need to have the seat almost fully upright. The armrest is also artificially high (and I am 6’ 2’’) so if you don’t rest your arm that high, you end up with no armrest on the side by the window. For most people, the suite will prove to be a winner. However, if you’re looking to get some work done on the flight and don’t care about extra storage space, premium select will work well for you (especially on a day flight!).

I loved flying on the A359. Have you flown the A339 yet?

I have not flown the A339 yet. I would do so if it was relatively easy but there aren't many of them in the DL fleet let alone flying on domestic routes

How loud is the Trent XWB from inside the cabin?

It's pretty quiet. Of course during takeoff you will hear them roar, but during cruise it's one of the quietest aircraft out there.

@@StarAllianceMan Nice, I wonder why smaller jet engines are getting quieter while bigger ones are still staying relatively loud?
