You misread the video title. It says the _video_ has become a heated Second Amendment debate. In other words, the video sparked a debate among others (though I'm not sure why . . . I see no issues).
He has a firearm because he’s allowed to. These guys did a good job.

Read it again. Thats not what the title says. No one ever said that the cop and the guy were arguing/debating....People (the public) are arguing/debating over whether or not what happened here (in this video) is correct. Understand?

Was pulled over in Texas and Officer asked if I had any firearms in my vehicle? I had handed him my DL and CHL, so he knew I would probably be armed. I responded, "Yes, I have firearms in my Pickup." He asked how many? And I said, "5 maybe 6 if my wife left her pistol in the door pocket again." And I rolled my eyes. He then asked if any were loaded and I said, "Well, a gun with no bullets is called a rock!" He laughed, I laughed. Then he said, Make you a deal, "You leave yours where they are and I'll leave mine where it is." I gave him a thumbs up and we addressed the issue why he stopped me. Then went out seperate ways.
Texas Cops know were are all going to be armed. How we responds determines how they deal with it.
"Now when you do have a firearm, you are allowed to uh, have it in your uh, glove compartment, right?"
If you are having to ask a cop this question, you probably don't need to have a firearm in your glove compartment.
Everyone remained nice and calm, the officer especially was very cool, nobody freaked out and started shooting. An excellent response from both sides..

If it’s illegal to have a loaded firearm readily accessible in New Jersey, why do police walk up to the window armed?
All this started because of expired registration. If I had a gun along, legal or not, I'd make sure the little stuff was current. Of course, this apparently was NJ, which no sane gun owner would ever go near, even a airline stopover via a hunting trip to be avoided.
This guy was smart to immediately say he has a gun. In Texas they would compare guns and meet later at the shooting range.

In NJ you cannot leave your house with your firearm unless it is a one way trip to the range, or hunting. And the return trip home from that event. This man's situation is the exception since this man needs it on the job. NJ is one of the worst 2nd Amendment states ever

This! Is why you don't keep your firearm in the same place as your firearm. I also live in Southern Oregon where most of the citizens carry so the police are used to coming in contact with legal firearm owners.

He had a legal firearm which he did not have a license to carry concealed off the job period. Listen closely he said it's not my work gun and I don't have the paperwork on me. BTW can I carry that in my glove box is a red flag. He was trying to Bull shit like he did have one and after the gun was confiscated he was charged the next day.
He didnt have to even mention the gun but here we go and we are off and running Some people have to learn the hard way.
You have to know NJ gun laws. After you get your FID, then purchase a firearm of any kind, to drive it anywhere it MUST be in locked Case, with ammo in separate locked Case, preferably in the trunk but definitely out of drivers reach. Once driving, it is against the law to stop. You must drive continuous to your destination, no gas, no coffee, no restroom, no smack. Yup. do it and you can get arrested. How if you're legal, wanna try and let cops find gun by themselves.

If one has a security job that allows for carry, once they clock out, that Gun has to be unloaded, and locked in a box with ammo separate locked in a box in the trunk. I bet they screwed this guy. Should have just said he didn't have the registration. They would not have had cause to search.
That is why I NEVER put any required paperwork in with my gun. That way, when I need the paperwork, I won't have to warn the cops that I have a gun.
Researched this incident. Looks like he wasn't supposed to transport the gun while off duty and had simply forgotten it was still in his car. It was confiscated (not shown in this video), he was charged when he attempted to pick his gun up the following day, plead, lost his job and was labeled a felon. He was eventually pardoned by Chris Christie.

the only problem I have with it is the police reaching in and taking the gun. If he has a permit, theres no reason to even open the glovebox just leave it where it is, you verified he can carry, its more dangerous to start messing with the gun. This is NJ though, which has absurd gun laws and the police there tend to have a negative stance on any gun whatsoever they feel they should be the only ones who can have one (yes a stereotype). I mean, you cant even have hollowpoints in that ridiculous state.

Soooo where was the heated conversation? The only thing I would say is, if someone especially if they're a minority asks the cop to take control of the firearm, the cop should take them up on that. That way you don't get a sketchy cop like the one in Minnesota who shot the guy several times after the guy told the cop he had a gun and a ccp and the cop still went crazy and killed him after the guy told him several times he was not going for his gun! So, if someone says to the cop... Take my gun. Take them up on that offer.
The problem is the cops have never seen a CCW because NJ rarely gives them out. With NJ gun laws, I'm not even sure a CCW allows you to have gun in glove box. You have absolutely no idea what BJ gun laws are like unless you live here or are a 2A activist.

i thought they could run whatever tag they want,in my area the cops has the plate readers thing on top of the cars that automatically picks up plates anyway and it alerts them if something is wrong.
Doesn't sound like a valid traffic stop to me. He nearly got shot for it. Cop got a touch nervous there. Cop thought process; "OMG he has a gun! oh, wait I have a gun too and a partner to back me up."

It's because of the word "that's" is why. People may have been in a heated debate in N.J. over this recording. It doesn't say the video is about a heated debate. Clever work.
