- Noddy has spent 3 hours queuing for meat; he couldn't let Simon Le Bon get all the best cuts! Dave can't clean the mugs with the washing up liquid Noddy has bought, and Jimmy's disappointed that his fireworks do not contain a Catherine Wheel.

Slade were great, this documentary proves how nice they really were
I just wish they'd played some of their hits.
dont you think Bob actually looks like Dave from slade here haha
It shows you how the stars live, fantastic documentary.
Just like Stellar Street
In many ways they're just like us.
To think that Don Powell now leads a quiet live as a local village Catholic priest solving crimes in his spare time ...
.....and Noddy advertising Mince Pies for Iceland!!
Slade.....'Cum on Feel the Noize' - defines my teens in a nutshell!
Anyone aged 11-16 in the early 70s will say how grateful we were to have been blessed with the likes of T.Rex, Bowie, Rod Stewart, Slade, Sweet, Mud, Wizard (shush... even Gary G****r !😲 ). If not, they missed something Special!!
Absolutely love Reeves & Mortimer paying homage to such icons. Hysterical 🤣 😍 👏
I swear my ol man is trapped in the 70s....
Damn. It's true.
This should have been a full sitcom
I genuinely feel very happy for them all at the ending.
According to Dave Hill, this is pretty much how Slade were back then 🎸🎶🎤
Please let this be true
Slade AND Roy Wood - fantastic!! The writers of all those legendary hit singles in one front room!!
So much talent in one sketch! Vic, Bob, Paul Whitehouse, Mark Williams *and* Charlie Higson? I'm amazed the camera didn't explode.
Yes, Higson - thank you!
@@stuphe1844 I’m a fan of his work, he certainly was one of the top talents in The Fast Show.
@Alfred Noalkes Are you sure that isn’t Charlie Higson?
@Alfred Noalkes Okay, well thanks. I could have sworn, but I guess I was wrong.
@@peterdefrankrijker It is Charlie Higson.
Their portrayal of Slade was brilliant loved it
One of the most underrated comedy sketches ever 😂
Just came by to listen to Vic Reeves as Noddy Holder say "you got to get there early to get the best cuts".
Good day to you
The funniest is Paul Whitehouse nearly losing it over the fireworks to close to the fire lol
i heard bob mortimer did burn down his house with fireworks when he was a youth
@@johnnydawson20he did!
Vic is brilliant as Noddy 😆
Sketches like this really warm the cockles of your heart.
Too funny. I've watched these a million times.. Still laugh my head off
It's so good. A supergroup of comedians.
I’ve never seen Noddy Holder holding a Noddy. Ever.
You can tell they had a laugh making these. Too funny!
I miss Slade They was the best christmas we all had
I'm a simple man. I see Reeves, Mortimer, Whitehouse and Williams doing Slade so I click.
My wife made me a cuppa soup for lunch today. She asked me "Does youse want a cuppa soup?"
All of these look just like Slade. Especially Dave Hill
Best slade tribute band ever
Coming from Wolverhampton, this reminds me of my grandparents
Burnzi2 didn't know u had grandparents in brummie
Your grandparents were Slade? Nice one....Cup-a-soups all round!
@@wideyxyz2271 😁
😂
@@YOYO-mx6ie Brummie?? they're from Wolverhampton!! 🙄
5 great comedy actors right there
Bizarrely all 4 look like the members of Slade they’re portraying
Sheesh.. i can picture my face right now; its basically the reflection of Bill Murray at sarco Level 1. But in the asumed lack of a hidden disability; the general idea of mimickry is kind of looking and/or sounding like the subject of your mimickry.
1:59 Paul Whitehouse corpsing
Nebby Scumbold This is the correct answer.
@@FaxanaduJohn No way
Hurrah comedy we can LAUGH at reeves and mortimer brilliant
"and guess what, It comes with a free Catherine Wheel". Problem solved
this is simply great
I’m watching this while having a cuppa soup. Minestrone
With croutons? Batchelors talked about doin' away with the croutons (they'd go soggy if you didn't bolt them down, quick style.)
Roy Wood is played by Charlie Higson from the fast show.
what? the real Roy Wood, you are kidding
@@pondconker1 That had me in stitches
2:05 Ah Standard Fireworks. For an appropriate amount of burning your house to the ground eh Bob?
haha...I was just thinking that as well
"Not", for outdoor use!
Laughing til i almost die, btw Noddy and Glenn Hughes has the best voices in rock.
"Are ye thick, as well as stupid?" 😂
'...but I wannid beyf ' 🤣
Bonkers and brilliant
From about 2:00, watch Paul Whitehouse creasing up as Bob gives him a telling off for counting his fireworks next to the fire. 'Are you thick as well as stupid?'
Haha didn’t spot that myself 😂
Pretty sure that's just acting the part. They are meant to be naughty schoolboys and Dave is the "mother", so he's just smirking about being told off, like mist naughty kids do.
And funny thing is that in reality Bob burnt his mums house down by messing about with fireworks whilst in the house!
Brilliant!
Thanks for clearing that up mate :)
Weird seeing Bob lecture on firework safety considering that’s how he burnt his house down as a kid
Still brilliant
Awesome ♠️
Who would have thought Slade lived together in the same house 😆
knoddys side burns lol lol
WOW!!! It's incredible that they got Roy Wood to appear 🙂
Funny!
Or are you serious?
You have to be of at least a certain age to get this and Americans have no chance...
Free Catherine wheel you say? And lemon fresh to boot! Right I’m off to Dudley to do some shopping.
Noddy is from Walsall ,the rest of slade from Wolverhampton…….and Roy wood is from Birmingham ….why go to Dudley ? 😁
I would loved to have seen how the members a Slade reacted to these sketches when they were first aired. I bet they fell about!
Noddy Holder is on record as saying they thought the sketches were great + also said that there were many surreal/bulls**t conversations a day kinda like this.
Dave Hill also said he thought they were very funny.
Awesome......
This was the last time Mark Williams could see his own feet. Hard to believe he was ever so slim.
Yet Paul Whitehouse and Bob Mortimer had heart problems.
Brilliant Sketch so funny
Magic tv..brilliant
Looks like a 1/24 Italeri Frieghtliner 120 model kit. Top smart 😉
" and guess what? It comes with a free catherine wheel".... I'm dead
😂😂😂 bloody brilliant
That thumbnail looks more like Dave Hill than Dave Hill 😆
"BALLPARK INCIDENT!!!" 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
1:56 great fireplace.
Great grate
This is great! Very funny i love Slade I own 3 CDs of theirs 1 lp, and cassette !
No 7 inch Singles?
You're not a real fan then! ;)
Great
Dave's girl friend lived next door to my mate used to see him come up nice one lads funny
Nodday n Wooday bostin !
Absolutely freaking hilarious....free Catherine wheel!
2:42 Dave just appeared out of nowhere
Father Brown!!
Technically there's more of the Fast Show here than Vic and Bob. Nice one Nod!
classic brummie kitchen sink drama
brill
I can well believe that noddy would queue down the butchers just to prove a point.
Does anyone know what that art is called at 0:44 ?
Thanks for the summary because I couldn't understand ANY of that, except something about the washing up liquid being only water...
@elukok no brummie!
Is that Arthur Weasley in the white vest?
Yeah he was part of the fast show
Was Charlie Higson Roy Wood? 😆
I'm a yam yam and once I was on a date and a boy showed me this clip... one word offended
Boss.
Oh my it's Peterson from Red Dwarf lol
@borednerd74 Yeah!
If I look away from the screen and don't concentrate , I can't understand what they're saying
@Giant Scorpion of the Apocalypse I don't get it.
Kadesh Vega he cannot either....
Suzanne is looking lovely as ever
Apart from her fat arse
Found the new Vic and Bob's Big Night Out below par, but it had its moments.
very reminiscent of the young ones.
Please tell me who plays Roy Wood in this sketch . Its driving me over the edge . i know the voice
but cant place him . At first i thought it was Danny O'Carroll , the voice is so similar . But i researched and its not him . i know that voice from some other BBC series ive watched , but cant place him ,or what i seen him in
Cheers
Took me 5 years but its Charlie Higson...you're welcome ;)
Also, he is in The Fast Show with most of the others...
@leperlord666 Charlie Higson.
4:3 please
I think Noddy Holder thought these were fly on the wall documentaries (with less sex and drugs)
1:26 Bon Scott has returned from beyond the grave......
Aw, been looking for the Slade in Residence episode from the 1st Series, 1st Episode of Smell of Reeves and Mortimer, can´t find it :( can anyone upload it.. I´m not sure if I can
Sam Leigh-Brown is that the 1 where they are playing "guess the continent" on Noddy's beard?
+areyousure youwantodelete it's India! same as last week!!
Were they still performing as a band at the time?
Occasionally
Simon le bon was the best
What year is that from?,please
+Pater Emeritus I would say around 1994 without checking :)
1994???I don't think so mate, I think it's before
Nah, 1994 possibly 1993....I would check but cba
yes its 1993, i was surprized it was that early.
1973
Does anyone know the song in the intro pls?
Its " goodbye to jane" by slade
@@merlin5476 Please! Correct grammar must be adhered to when addressing anything to do with Slade! It's (honestly!) "Gudbye t' Jane" As well as "Mama....All Crazee Now!!" amongst a few others! Detention Wizard man!
@@Biigfish559 absolutely correct. However, i do remember that some of my singles had the lettering reversed !! Not sure how i could replicate that. 🎵👍
Careful Slade that looks like Simon Le Bon disguised as Roy Wood
Let's be honest, we all laughed at things, "that were funny at the time".
I wish they had american slang subtitles ...
I thought this slade documentary was brilliant & couldnt stop laughing..... then Roy Wood came in ....😅😅🤣🤣. ive just wet myself
I'm from the U.S. What language are they speaking?
Brian Salk They're speaking English....but with very exaggerated West Midlands accents!
I'm from Wolverhampton just north west of Birmingham but a world apart in attitude etc but to Martians and Yanks alike, we sound the same. However, on a wonderful visit to the good ol' US of A a few years back, i had a store worker ask me if I was from Lithuania!! Never before or since did I so wish i knew the Lith Lingo! Thank you US, still love ya and would like to return one day! Maybe it's the Irish in me :P
@@benmarshall404 Ar doe no wot yam on abaht wen yo goo on abaht how thay spake! That sarnds loike the most bostin English Ar've ever erd, unlike that forrin bollox they spew aht dahn in Bermingum!!
Think Paul Whitehouse at 2.02 broke character
a person that talks in an accent local to Birmingham in the UK
What does Brummie Mean?
Accent of Birmingham
Gewglesux Birmingham used to be called Brummigham later changed to Birmingham......hence Brummy
@@itsmephil2255 erm...not quite tbf; Birmingham was naturally called that name but I vaguely understand that due to the city's dealings in the precious stone market (Diamond Quarter etc) a nickname was born ie "Brummy Gem" which I understand morphed into "Brummijum" and the fallout was the natural mix up of fact and fiction resulting in the abbreviation "Brum" from which the accent is derived. Just while I'm here, PLEASE for your own safety don't ever say to anybody north/west of Perry Barr and beyond "Ooh are you a Brummie?", the further north/west the question, the very much harder the slap on the face :O
