Yeah, I can relate to this, I don't really like this track and the possible outcome as a WC race. I might watch but I don't like when there are so many injuries in a season.
unpopular opinion but I'm really looking forward to watching the racing on this track! I'm not sure why people are saying it looks flat...some parts look steeper than most other tracks! I'm a huge fan of simply cutting a rough path off piste and letting things figure themselves out. It's the opposite to tracks like Fort William which I could fall asleep watching. Get hundreds of riders down this one and I guarantee the track will evolve and keep everyone on their toes.
This (and Andorra to a lesser extent) are what I think about when people complain about having the same tracks every year. (Leogang, Lenzerheide, FT Bill, VDS, Snowshoe, St Anne) Thing is, those tracks are really good! They're at the right difficulty and have a lot of variation. Are there really not that many places that have the terrain and can afford to put on a WC? Fees too high? Who knows.
hmmm.....is this an Enduro stage? There doesn't seem to be any defining feature or wow factor to this new course. Brand new location - clean slate, and this is all they could come up with - a single line elephant train?
Off camber looks fun, could you guys build the first road crossing to be a proper road gap? Thinking of those photos of people back flipping over the Tour de France pack.
Thanks Loic! Can’t wait to see you smash it on race day! That track will be far more interesting when it’s wet! Gonna be fast. Weird as fuck little finish gate!
Lourdes is much more sensitive to rain mid-race (completely changes the track) and doesnt have enough uplift capacity which is one of the reasons UCI asked for a change of venue. That plus the fact that they want to run more disciplines at the same venue. Lourdes doesnt really have trails suitable for enduro --- the new UCI format is leading to more compromises
@@benrobinson1841 There are sections that look pretty fresh, and as it gets ridden in will probably blow out some of that dust thus exposing whatever rocks are underneath. Thanks for sharing Loic. Was hoping for better track from France though. Guessing Lourdes was struck off due to the mile long queue for the uplift last year! Good luck in Fort Bill this weekend!
Top section is way too dull for a WC. Not sure what could be done to improve it, maybe some really big jumps. Gets better in the woods, might be interesting if it’s wet.
