    @Olie23231 I agree with you. Although I go to the bands for two completely different things. For must to completely lose yourself in, to relax, to study to, Elbow are unsurpassed. For music to play along to, to get excited and loud to, and to delve into the darker parts of your mind, Muse are the boys. But I enjoy both bands in equal parts :)

    Just so your small mind knows Muse are acclaimed for putting on some of the most intense and energetic live shows that have ever been produced. Their music is some of the most passionate and brilliant ever made (not "soulful" the only people who can get away with "soul" are soul singers). They've produced the greatest event ever seen at Wembley Stadium (officially) and are widely seen as the greatest prog and alternative band of this generation. The only insignificant dot here is you.

    Alternative was a genre Radiohead grasped and changed completely, they produced some incredible work and changed with each album, as they are always praised for. Muse are classed as being in the same brackets as Radiohead, but do nothing. They are stale and they just try to mimick what others are doing in that all important search for self importance. They do not deserve the hype they get, a band like Elbow who's members worked incredibly hard for 15 years before getting signed get less, why?

  • @LeniTV

    @BrettSmith92 Exactly, im not taking anything away from muse as a band I think matt bellamy is a great guitarist and lyricist but there music is nothing compared to elbow's. Elbow are one of the simplest and hard working band's I've ever come across and they are one of the best british bands around, and more so they deserve to be after how long it took them to get where they are. Elbow ooze soul, they're songs are just so damn beautiful

    If you like critics so much you should go read what Pitchfork critics have to think about Muse's records. I don't think critics are blinded by pretty lights, I think the idiotic fans are who have never been to a real gig without all the showmanship bullshit. Also 90% of the British media are blinded by the pretty lights because they're so far up Muse's arse it hurts. They're a big British band like Coldplay etc, they're obviously going to get good attention from the media.

  • @Olie23231
    @Olie23231 Před 11 lety +2

    You can be incredibly talented at something and still be utterly boring and not appealing, look at Oasis. None of them were particularly talented at anything, they now have over 75 million albums sold and two of the most highly praised albums since The Beatles, but on those two albums, they had a fuck load of soul. Without soul talent is meaningless, without soul anything produced by an artist sounds dead and cold

    • @Arrwmkr
      @Arrwmkr Před 5 lety

      You're spot on. I saw interpol at Brixton academy around 2004, note prefect but no soul, they just turned up, played axons left without a word and it sucked, worst performance ever. Elbow on the other hand always bring it, I've seen them about five times, small and large venues, they are like going to a good church service ;)

    @Abadoeba15 Před 12 lety

  • @Olie23231
    @Olie23231 Před 13 lety

    @vinneyism They bloody are, the people that like muse are generally shitty little scene kids who think that muse are really different and cool, elbow are a manly band, guy garvey's just brilliant and they can put on an amazing show with none of the shit muse use, bands like mumford and sons and elbow are climbing to the top of the ladder especially at festivals because of how simple their shows are, and how they blow the audience out of the water at the same time

  • @Olie23231
    @Olie23231 Před 12 lety

    Mumford and Sons and Elbow are actually doing something different, they have so much appeal because they sound slightly different to everyone else in a distinct way. Muse may as well be a Radiohead cover band who've now adopted dubstep, and if you do listen to Muse, you may as well just listen to Radiohead. Muse are currently being slaughtered for their new material, but the little kids who listen to them still think they're oh so brilliant, let them carry on being delusional, I say.

    @Olie23231 Před 12 lety

    Mumford and Sons sold like 4 million copies of their debut FOLK album and achieved massive mainstream success with it, still no idea how they did it, but it's very different. Elbow are quite different too, if you listen to a lot of their early stuff you'll see why (Plus Guy Garvey's voice is so unique). You could argue the same for Muse, but they've just gone downhill. And if you haven't seen any comparisons between Radiohead and Muse you must have been living under a rock haha

  • @emilyanderton7099

    sorry son soul doesn't make up for talent. I think Elbow are fantastic and they really impressed me at this gig; completely blew me away but the fact of the matter is Muse are still better in just about every single way. Muse's live shows are the best on the planet and all three of them are just incredible musicians. The spectacle they produce is fantastic and even more so when you remember there's only three of them plus a backing keyboard. Elbow had loads of backup and didn't come close

  • @Olie23231

    The same magazine's that place Oasis albums top of their "greatest albums of all time" lists. The same magazines that would give anything to give great reviews to overrated British bands. The same magazines who though little of Radiohead when they released their debut, and ever since have been embarrasingly trying to kiss their arses to make up for how badly wrong they were. Add to the fact Matt Bellamy is with Kate Hudson, and well, there's your media goldenboy right there.

  • @alternativebassist
    @alternativebassist Před 11 lety

    no I just know what energy means. And again you lose: Muse have officially been rated the greatest event at Wembley. And again you're wrong; its an objective fact that Muse have the best atmosphere and power at their concerts. They have no self importance, that would be you. Their new album is merely experimentation; point to one place where they big themselves up, they don't; they're incredibly deferential. Considering how little you know about music I wouldn't make such a stupid statement

  • @Olie23231
    @Olie23231 Před 12 lety

    Wow one song got commercial success, you're going to begrudge a band who worked hard for years before getting signed, of getting radio play? The last time Muse brought out an album, The Resistance and Undisclosed Desires (two appalingly average songs) were on the radio all the time, and I didn't complain, because it's still better than half the shit thats on the radio the rest of the time. Also you think Elbow's last album was below par BECAUSE it wasn't talked about as much

  • @socksy

  • @Olie23231
    @Olie23231 Před 11 lety

    No, I respect the views of pitchfork because they're not reviewers who climb inside bands arses whenever they release new material. Led Zeppelin are now one of the most acclaimed bands to have ever existed, you know what Muse will be in 20 years? A little insignificant dot. They do nothing special or different yet their music stinks of self importance, which is why all the fans proclaim they're the best thing since, well, whatever band they were listening to last week.

    Oh dear? Most energetic? Your mind must have been melted by the pretty lights. The greatest event ever seen at wembley? The greatest event ever seen at Wembley would hands down be Queen in 1986, new Wembley? Foo Fighters, better atmosphere, more energy, more simplistic but elegant stage style. Muse are hollow, they try to cover up their flaws with the self importance, clearly evident with the new album. If they didn't try to be something special they might actually make decent music.

  • @alternativebassist
    @alternativebassist Před 11 lety

    and you've seen them live when? I wouldn't talk about three boring fellas coming from an elbow fan. The only vaguely interesting one out there is the singer. Muse fucking own their stage. The kids don't like them; actual musicians like them. Which is why they're one of the most critically acclaimed bands out there. They're also incredibly technically brilliant musicians but being a pretentious hipster that wouldn't matter to you now would it?

  • @Drummerjay16
    @Drummerjay16 Před 11 lety

    Well i don't think muse went 'Hey guys our music aint they great lets just whack some lights and pretty stuff up ay?' No. Thats there thing, they are performers. You say these have depth but so do muse? Just in a different style. You can prefer this band but at the end of the day saying muse is weak is just so stupid.

  • @Drummerjay16
    @Drummerjay16 Před 11 lety

    No, they are just crative enough to come up with something new. If your listening to a review for what you think of a band i feel sorry for you. Led Zeppelin never got a good review and they were one of the best bands in history. I couldn't give a shit what people say their genre is. I listen to the music for what it is. Don't start about 'different music' bro. I listen to music from all corners of the earth from the mentally insane to the african tribal music so really, just don't go there.

  • @alternativebassist
    @alternativebassist Před 11 lety

    you keep using that word, I don't think you actually have any idea what it means. First off those are three of the most talented musicians out there, they may have "soul" but its their talent that makes them so good. Lots of rubbish musicians have "soul" and they're still absolutely rubbish, you can be soulful as you like but if you don't have talent you're killing music. But what's even funnier is that Muse DO have soul; they're one of the most passionate and talented bands out there.

  • @Olie23231
    @Olie23231 Před 11 lety

    Muse have to use a shit load of lights, effects and other theatrical bollocks to make their live shows watchable. Without, they are simply three boring looking guys making awful noises for an hour and a half. Of course the kids like them because the kids think they're "cool", and they believe they're amazing musicians, when the the fact of the matter is they just haven't looked far enough into music to find out what brilliant is. They should all pick up Kid A sometime.

  • @Olie23231
    @Olie23231 Před 11 lety

    Muse aren't good enough as performers to entertain a crowd without a lightshow and other technical features. Look at Muse's album reviews (particularly Pitchforks), look at the constant comparisons between them and Radiohead and actually listen to some "different" music and you will see Muse barely scratch the surface in the genre's that their fans claim they rule over.

  • @Olie23231

    Oasis are a great band, but is Definitely Maybe the best album of the past 50, 25 years? Even all time? Hell no (Also they haven't sold over 100 million albums). Radiohead are an excellent band, but I wouldn't class any of their albums in my top ten either. You think that Muse played a better Wembley show than Queen did, one of the greatest most defining moments in music history, and you slate me?
