  • Finally, we had a chance to drive new Hyundai Azera. I guess we have to call it Hyundai Azera 2020. Our tester had 3.3L V6 mated to 8 speed automatic. It has such a nice interior and improved exterior, some of thought it was better than Genesis G80. (In some areas). So, let’s do drive the new Hyundai Azera.

I have a 2012 Azera that is also like brand new. The appearance, inside and out, under the hood, and even under the car is not even 1% less than new... maybe .2%. This is an amazing car.
I thought that if I could afford a new Azera it would be nice to have one shipped from S. Korea - but I can't. Other than the the very cool dash/instrument cluster and the other screens, the interior of the 2nd generation is as cool as the new 3rd gen.
My 2012 is rated at 29 highway and I get 30-31 at around 70 mph. At 55-60 I get 34+ mpg -- compared to the one in this review at 37 mpg which is impressive.
The 2012 is at 293 hp and, I believe, 255 lb ft of torque and does 0-60 in 6 seconds and 94-96 in the quarter mile at around 15 seconds. These numbers, to me, are impressive considering this isn't a sports car. The new one reviewed here is close in performance to the 2012 to 2017.
Great cars! Are you in the U.S., CI?

Then I saw the 2010 Sonata, WOW!! I moved to Pugi Hyundai and sold Hyundai’s for the next 5 years. I’m retired from car sales now but still miss all the guys at Pugi. Still visit them regularly for service and on going friendship. I purchased my wife a Elantra Limited in 2015 and we have been very happy with it. @@AsianPetrolhead The problem in the US is that there is really no market for full sized mainstream FWD sedans. The domestic market has completely pulled out with the discontinuation of the current remodeled Chevy Impala after only one generation and the Ford Taurus. Even the Buick LaCrosse has been canceled in the US despite being considered entry level luxury with available AWD. Only the Toyota Avalon remains and the very slow selling Kia Cadenza.
The Nissan Maxima is just mid-sized and smaller than the Altima despite being the flagship. The Dodge Charger and Chrysler 300 are RWD and are almost 10 years old. That leaves the VW Arteon which like the LaCrosse is trying to be entry level luxury with available AWD as well as fastback design. Unless Hyundai/Kia add AWD to these vehicles, i don't see them gaining any traction, no pun intended, in the US market...

What are the differences between Kia and Hyundai cars in terms of nvh, comfort, driving dynamics and performance?

    • @BCO216
      @BCO216 Před 4 lety +1

@@Michael-kz5nc kia is nice, but fall behind in tech, if you're a tech head. Kia doesn't offer the bluelink type system that's easy to fall in love with. The companies do this on purpose to promote Hyundai as an upper end luxury brand to kia more sporty brand.
Ride quality is about the same, but Hyundai upper class Genesis line ride quality is best over all because its luxury.
Performance in the V6, V6tt and V8 are same motors and transmission. I've read Hyundai maybe tuned a little higher by not much at all, can't recall the number.
I've always leaned more toward Hyundai because of the tech side, but the K5 and sorento in person are very beautiful cars with far more tech then previous. They've kept the price low by not adding some features and removing some plastics in certain area's like trunk henge covers.

I have an '08 Azera with nearly 250,000 miles on it. It still drives, rides and runs like new. Best car I've ever owned and I've owned BMW's and Cadillac's in addition to my share of Chevy's, including one Corvette. if I buy another sedan it will be either Hyundai Azera or Genesis. Hyundai is so far out in front of ALL the American car makers as well as the other Asian car makers that it is no longer a contest. As for the European makers, that BMW pretty much cured me from wanting another one. The only vehicle I've ever owned that cost me more, per mile, to own and operate was my Harley-Davidson Sportster.

Oh that one world of married, had Grandeur IG, the one before this one. Yes, i mean if this new Azera or Grandeur had a bit less futuristic front end, then i would call it 105/100. Thanks James.

Hyundai going towards Toyota with huge grill inserts. Matter of choice but I don’t like it and prefer Cadenza to this just like new K5/Optima to Sonata for exterior. Hyundai seems more luxurious inside. Btw, my 2017 Cadenza has the 3.3 motor and can get 33 mpg on highway at 75 mph.

Yes, Ivan. The front look of this Azera will take sometime to get adjusted. Wow, your Cadenza is rocking. Thank you for tuning in. Please do support us by subscribing. And Happy Holidays~!

I really love the front grill. Yes it stands out and that is what you want in a market full of competitors. It will be cool if they can put it across all their model's.
Keep up the great job. And happy holidays

I wish Hyundai would bring back the Azera. This car would easily compete and probably beat cars in the Genesis line up. In the North American markets especially the United States I'm sure people that want the Genesis badge will still buy a Genesis

Hyundai USA should know that Americans like flahship cars, phones etc. It's easy to sell Americans on the flagship and top tier product.
For loyal Hyundai customers in America to get the same experience as their fellow Hyundai brothers and sisters in Korea the company should consider bringing it back to the North American market. If their reasoning for not bringing the Azera back is due to the lack of sales it had in 2015 Hyundai must realize that the Hyundai of 2015 and the Hyundai of today are two different companies.
Hyundai has worked hard to not only improve their brand image in North America but they are putting their stamp on the global market and customer that were loyal to German or Japanese brands are turning their heads and taking notice. So much so that Hyundai is making other car manufacturers step up their game in terms of features and design just so Hyundai won't pass them in the race. I don't think it's a coincidence that Lexus SUV have redisigned their infotainment system and even got rid of the LEXUS logo badge to just spell out
L-E-X-U-S which is similar to what Genesis has been doing.
Hyundai and Genesis are making luxury features standard and I know the Germans and Japanese and hopefully American car manufacturers take notice. Hyundai is a brand that is constantly improving on design, performance, and customer experience. With this concistency and quality and their diligence it's easy for new customers that weren't initially a fan of Hyundai or Genesis to take notice and become loyal brand patrons.

I would LOOOOOOOVE for Hyundai to bring the Azera back to the USA. I owned a 2007 (that I kept for 10 years) and I currently own a 2016. I was disappointed when Hyundai decided not to bring the Azera back after MY 2017 and they essentially have lost a (former) loyal customer.
Though the Genesis brand is nice - the Azera offered the practicality of a family sedan (folding rear seats ALWAYS SELLS ME) while offering some of the amenities that luxury cars enjoy (such as a power rear window shade).
