- We all want a $1000 guitar, but we don't want to let go of that kind of money. We have been around guitars and are willing to do a little work to customize the right guitar.
Which is better? To buy a used guitar that has seen better days, or buy a new guitar that is an off-shore knock off of the guitar we really want?
Here, I take a twin humbucker, reverse headstock LTD, similar to a Kirk Hammet and an off-shore reverse headstock George Lynch Kamikaze. I am going to do the exact same work to both guitars and find out which one is a better investment.
I bought each guitar for $250 and shipping charges
I purchased the same pickups for each guitar
I purchased the same Floyd Rose upgrades
I purchased the same frets
I will install the same 14-16 conical radius
I will custom paint them both
I spend the time and money so you don't have to.
This is going to be fun to follow- as an aspiring modder I already learned a lot just from the parts choices you talked about. Mod those suckers Mr. Buzzz, I'll be watching!

What you put in the cheap one could a bought a better one
Cheap guitar = $250
Pickups = $65
Super Jumbo stainless frets = $28
Quality pots/wiring = $18
Exotic wood top = $35
Aftermarket block = $30
Carbon fiber arrows/Tungsten rods = $30
A guitar that will look better and play as good or better than an ESP Kirk Hammett or a Lynch?
ESP Kamikaze today = $5899.00
ESP/LTD Hammett = $1499.00
I guess you will need to watch the final video and see for yourself. Maybe it isn't worth it. I dunno.
