I love that Wriothesley said to Neuvillette that he is indeed loved by the people of fontaine and should stop consider himself an outsider. He tried to keep people away but he still formed connections with many people over the years.
It’s not like he tried to push people away it’s just that he felt no one would talk to him him so he didn’t even try.

i was recording the entire quest for memento purposes but I laughed so hard when the video went silent for a minute (because i was stunned while recording) because the traveler spoke - that's when i know how in depth the story is T_T eg: traveler rescuing nahida

Arguably one of the best story quests and cutscenes, it's so sad and gorgeous at the same time, they really gave Neuvillette such a dark past when it came to Carole and Vaudrin, but in the end where the kid said "Hydro Dragon Hydro Dragon Don't cry!" and seeing Neuvillette just noticing it just teared me up!

We're shown his past little by little and it breaks my heart every. single. time. I've never felt such empathy for a character before. It's just his sincerity and kindness, as well as his lack of understanding of himself and the emotions of others that makes you feel for him. Istg, from the first few seconds he appeared in the trailer, I knew right away Neuvillette was going to be sweet and kind to others, despite all the seriousness in his voice
never before have I heard the Traveler actually speak in any other non-archon quest

story quests in the past have made me cry at the end but Neuvillette's had me SOBBING literally every. 5. minutes. I was a shell of a person at the end, ive never cried for 2 hours straight before. As a mixed race immigrant myself living in france, everything about the quest hit me like a truck (i am so sorry for my neighbors when i rewatch the cutscene at the end)

The way Neuvillette treats all Melusines is so wholesome, I love this🥺
It makes me so sad to think that when Neuvillette found out Carole died he cried so much, because he knew her for 5 years and she was very close to him. And he also had to send Vautrin to the Fortress of Meropide, it upset him a lot, too. During the trial in the opera house you could hear that he was about to cry, probably because of both, Carole and Vautrin..
Now I understand why he tries not to get close to people, especially from Fontaine.
To add on the reasons he doesn't get close to others, it's also because he's a judge. Imagine making friends with a lot of people and now one of those people is on trial and you're the only judge in Fontaine. Aside from potential grief, conflicts of interest are in play too.
@claustofobia6086 Hopefully they manage to let him strike a balance. We know he doesn't preside over all cases because of one Melusine NPC dialogue (she asks us to guess if Furina will be there or if Neuvillette will be the one to judge the case), which means there are other judges. If there is a conflict of interest, then someone else can be the judge.
I'll be honest, when I went through the flashback bit with the fountain and first saw the trio of Neuvillette, Carole and Vautrin, I was like "Awwww what a cute trio".... And then I remembered Nuevillette saying about their outcomes and I've never had my mood changed so fast from happy to sad
This is the only story quest that i didn't notice "there is no combat the whole time" after i finished the quest~

I know very well that rain didn't cause by Hydro dragon's sadness, but the rain contains the emotions that Neuvillette could feel and causing him to be stirred. But the scene with the kid shouting hydro dragon don't cry made me in tears myself. And the vision of Carole and Vautrin smiling at the fountain? I ended up full blown crying😂
This quest was an all-star Fontainian cast! It's kinda fun to think about even if it was quite an emotional trip.

I really liked that his story quest wasn't about some NPC's life and we actually saw the character backstory

it still heavily involved NPC's tho, Kiara, Carole and Vautrin were all at the core of the story. I still say that a quest can be good even with an NPC focus. If we literally never focused on NPC, the world would feel hollow, here are 80 playable characters, the whole world literally revolves around them, and everyone else is a flat 2d cutout because god forbid we spend an hour to get to know an NPC.

I now understand that this was Focalors all along, setting Neuvillette on the path to empathy and compassion. He would ultimately be the one to forgive the sins of Fontainians because of it, thereby fulfilling Egeria's original justice.

that’s furina. despite amber lee conners voicing both furina and focalors, they sound very different and she does a wonderful job at portraying that and the differences between the two. at 1:27:17, especially when the voice starts talking, you can hear the chirpy, hopeful, curious and almost girlish kind of tone of voice that furina possesses (especially after act five) while focalors tone is a lot more graceful, elegant and maturer. imo, this voiceline sounds incredibly raw and human, which makes perfect sense because as we know furina is and has always been purely human. despite the fact focalors was indeed the one to invite neuvillette to the court of fontaine to serve as iudex, he would have never met her before act five, and she definitely would not have said this to him, i believe this was instead furina telling him this on their first day as colleagues together. had this voice gave off a different kind of tone and energy, i would have totally agreed with you. but this tone of voice can just only belong to furina
@@kittycatzapocalyse That would imply Furina knew of Neuvillette's ultimate role in the plan to save Fontaine from the prophecy, which is expressly not the case. There's no reason for Furina to say this to Neuvillette. Furthermore, there is also nothing that confirms that the speaker is even saying this _to_ Neuvillette at all.
While Neuvillette may not have met Focalors, Focalors would have known of the reborn Hydro Dragon during her contemplation in the sea. Notice the tense she uses: "will" - future tense. All part of her plan. The plan that Furina was kept in the dark about.
Focalors is the only one who has a reason to say the entire monologue. Furina doesn't. She couldn't.
This is the best kind of story quest. We really need to spend more time with the characters, see their backstory, their views, etc.
This is the first story quest that really made my heart heavy especially around the end. They really had to do one last double dip when Carole spiritually connected to Kiara in her dream
Wriothesley as a character is just amazing. He was goofy and all during the whole thing and then suddenly (1:16:36) he's the one who dropped the fact bomb to Neuvillette to clear his doubt, like it's just so satisfying I cant even explain lmao. He has similar vibe to Cyno and I'm loving it.
Legit, I was gonna pull Neuvillette but when Wriothesley appeared on the archon quest, I just stopped and decided to pull for Wriothesley 🤣
I just got Neuvillette and now thinking of his signature weapon and then Wriothesley and Furina. I'll get whomever I get haha.

I don't get why people are always so "oh no npcs are a part of someone story quest." Isn't it more natural that we see how characters interact with normal people? And we get a lot of characterization through these interactions. For example Ayatos Quest. It was a really fitting quest for his character.
I think Wriothesley story quest will have a lot to do with NPCs too because we met so many in the fortress but i think that is not a bad thing if we learn through them more of the playable character. it doesn't always need action but i will be really suprised if Wriothesley doesn't throw a few punches in his quest :D
Nah, the bad rap comes from how they're written and how much spotlight they take compared to who the story is supposed to be about. I'd give examples, but I don't remember most story quests anymore.
I just remember hating Yelan's story quest cuz it wasn't as cool or interesting as I thought going in.

I think character interactons are much more interesting than just getting told "yeah that is my sad backstory." in the interactions between different characters you can see a lot what makes a person. How they solve different problems, how they see themself and others around them.
thats why i like Alhaithams so much. We don't talk a lot about his background but the way he interacted with other people was really interesting to me.

Definitely one of the best story quests. You know it's serious when Zach gets paid. His and Baizhu's SQs are great, dark, and gut wrenching.
I Personally did not like Baizhu quest. But that's might be because I was not invested into any character in it. It was a good quality into introducing the character and his backstory. But it didn't Hit the Mark for me.
I love that we were not only told how badly melusines were perceived at first, but also shown the real events with real characters, nice
Besides, there was no Paimon to interrupt the unfolding drama and redirect our attention to something less shocking like what they did when Shenhe told her story to YunJin

The new story quests are getting better and better. This and Baizhu's Story Quests are my favorite, along with Alhaitham (only because of Kaveh and Haitham's bickering at the end).
Alhaitham's quest is really good by itself but the bickering is cute.

I think they are finally learning from players that we don't want NPC impact - at least in the story quests. Baizhu, Dehya, Yoimiya, Lyney ,and now Neuvillette has amazing story quests that more or less focuses on them, their ideals or what's important to them.

Facts you missed out on this video:
1. If you speak to Clorinde when she's in front of Chiori's clothes shop with Kiara, you'll find out she's a huge simp for Kiara. How Clorinde is always busy all the time, but never missed an opportunity to have a beach vacation with Kiara (can't blame her tho, Kiara is so cute)
2. The secret basement under Wriothesley's office stayed open for us to find out that the gigantic ship is now no longer there after the archon quest, which is a cool lore.
3. This story quest shows you how Neuvillette can observe the memory through the rain, and this means that whenever you see the rain pouring down during any of the quests in Fontaine, Neuvillette is practically there observing everything. Much like Zhongli can see the memory through a rock, Neuvillette can see through the rain water. Hoyo didn't just make it rain randomly during any of the Fontaine quest, it was meant all along that Neuvillette would be there standing next to you with his judgement gaze (talk about some crazy Eren plot)
4. At the begin of the story quest, right after the conversation where Neuvillette said he would leave a note for Furina. If you do not read that specific note, then there will be an alternative ending conversation with Neuvilette at the end of the story quest which there will be no reply note from Furina on the table. In this scenario, instead of talking about Furina, Neuvillette will have a longer conversation with you about his final verdict on the purpose of his life/existence.
Chat joking abt how Zach finally gets a paycheck was so funny
But legit, this is one of the best story quests ever, cried like four times, beautifully written and performed
Seeing Neuvillette smile at the end of the cutscene nearly made me cry. This is definitely my favourite story quest (along with Yoimiya’s second one). Like I love Neuvillette so much as a character :)

Also, this story quest is one of a kind of amazing and sad at the same time. I suddenly remember Tighnari's story quest and I thought that was the saddest one for me but Neuvillette's story makes me teared up even more 😭😭😭
59:22 I really appreciate that Bran didn't directly teleport to the Palais and talked to the npcs by the fountain first, especially with these 2 gardes, its an important story detail that many content creators I've watched skipped/forgot

To understand this story you must do world quest about Elynas the nice dragon who didn't realize that her self makes a pollution in fountain, Elynas has been killed by fountaininan Army about 500 years ago there and the melusine it self been born from the blood of Elynas

A masterclass of a story quest imo. A mix of lore, character exploration and development.
i also didn't realize the quest didn't have a single battle until someone complained on a tiktok video 😂. i was crying the entire time doing his quest 😭
As a note on the trial thing. There is always a trial event when a characters banner is up which means you are always able to test them out no matter what. So not having a trial in their story quest isnt exactly a negative. You cant get the character when the event trial isnt up anyways so i dont see how it would ever be a problem.
My point being you cant test a chatacter when their banner ISNT up to know if youd wanna save for them, example, i knew i wanted Eula at the start because of her story quest trial so i had time

Non bias, i give this quest 20/10 so peaceful, yet so sad and beautiful. I actually cried one time 😅 and choked on my tea when Paimon finally shut up snd let Aether speak. Neuv smile was beautiful though, especially considering who he is
What would’ve made Neuvillette’s “Wriothesley” scolding even better is if Wriothesley turned to the him and winked with a smirk.
Y'know, seeing story where a innocent Melusine having to game end herself all due to a misunderstanding, Carole didn't deserve this much pain and has broken Neuvillette's heart, Hoyoverse that is so dark.
This was one of if not the best story quest so far.
The reaction of the Fontainians being hostile towards the Melusines was very realistic, however, the actions of the "Cowards" were completely wrong. Our opinion on the Melusines was definitely biased because we got to know them in a good light and found them adorable, however for the Fontainians what they saw was Neuvilette was a newly appointed Chief Justice who started new major reforms and introduced a new race by also giving them official important jobs/positions, the rumors of coming from calamity didn't help either. It's like if we had a new President who introduced new laws and changed important ones as well while giving jobs and positions like law enforcement only to new specific individuals, there will be a lot of doubt and questions about corruption.
this was one of the few story quests that actually made me so emotional. others were yoimiya’s (act 2), tighnari’s, lyney’s, and scara’s (interlude). genshin really knows how to pull at the heartstrings of genshin players and i’m one of their victims 😭.
This story quest is extremely lively, honestly i love the fact that Story Quest are now involving a lot of playable characters interacting with each other, but still focused on the main subject of the character. I love it soo much

This hit my soul in a way that can only be described as riveting but heartbreaking.
I thought this quest would lead us to a dungeon with a boss fight while getting to trial Neuvellette but it went deep into his backstory, which is something alot of genshin character stories unfortunately lack. It was a warm welcome. This quest also dealt with realistic matters like suicide, racism and revenge and seeing the way the characters tackled the situation was very interesting. It made them feel more real. The ending to this quest almost made me cry... almost. Ironic how I havent cried in yrs but was close to crying on the quest about a man who pretty much created water 😅
Neuvillets, Baizhus and Tighnaris story quest are the only ones making me cry, they're also my top three story quest.... maybe I like to cry? lmao

There is one other thing that came to me during this quest, nothing serious rather a bit amusing. Imagine Fontaine had a weather forecast. Whoever that poor person would be must apologise probably daily for saying the wrong things 😂
"Today the sky is clear and blue, not a single cloud anywhere. This will be a fine and sunny day...."
And a second later it starts raining just for it to end again another 5 mins later 😂
If Arlecchino grew up in Fontaine and Neuvillette had been the chief justice for at least 400 years. Why'd it sound like Lyney was describing Neuvillette to her as if she doesn't know anything about him 🤔
My theory is that she’s not from Fontaine and is just putting on an act honestly…it’ll fit very well with her ‘wolf in sheep’s clothing’ description by donning the role of a fontanian

I don't think she grew up in Fontaine, she might be the one of the stolen children in the House of the Hearth. She is from Fontaine, but probably grew up in Snezhnaya and only recently went back and recruted Lyney, Lynette and Freminet.

I was crying from the moment Vautrin decided to take revenge for Carole until the end of the quest (I'm normally not that emotional but here I am, bawling my eyes out).
This story is without a doubt one of my fav with a incredible cutscene, it just raw emotion and a message that not seen a lot in stories, not a lot happens but that the point of it, it sweet story as we seen before how time can damage things, how all we lose all that fade away with time and change but this story reminds us that good thing can come with time and things can change for the better
This story quest makes me want to hug Neuvillette. ❤
One of the best story quest for me. It is bitter sweet and it show what kind of person Neuvillette really is.
I also like Wriothesley, he is smart and kind. His dynamic with Neuvillete are like siblings 😆
It was such a good quest. I enjoyed how we could see Neuvillette's past and how the society changed its opinion about Melusines. Although, to be honest, if Carol jumped in front of me like that, I'd scream in terror and kick her; I read too many horror books to not be terrified if an alien appeared in front of me. You can not force yourself onto other people; whoever told Melusines to pester people like Carol did in that quest, should re-think their decision.

When it comes to this story quest in terms of the theme of prejudice and hate, it really hits home for me since I can relate to their situation where I had trouble fitting in. And also this story quest, can be a box office movie in itself cause the storytelling is ABSOLUTELY TOP NOTCH as always. With that said, I absolutely loved this story quest a lot and ngl it really got me emotional too 😢
His quest is really one of my favorites right now and it really increased my interest in him as a character and made me love him more, since I wasn't really that interested in him before as a character before (as a character NOT lore and background, I mean he is sovereign, you would normally be interested in his background😗), but now I am really growing fonder of his character as a person (or dragon🙂). This story guest swiftly takes a position between my top 5 favorite story quests, just its hard to rank. And the ending cutscene was just the greatest

40:32 These events are happening in the past, when Neuvilette brought melusines to Fontaine. Elynas attacked around 500 years ago during cataclysm. This scene being placed is from around 400 years ago. Meaning there is a gap of 100 years only.
While 100 year seems long, its not that much considering how big(literally) of a threat Elynas was. The people in the memory, most probably their grandparents would have been present during that battle and passsed down horrific details of Elynas, and a beast that giant with abyssal blood, spewing monsters would have taken a long time to deal with, specially since the hydro archon of that time went and died in sumeru. So i m assuming grandparents and parents of these people from memory suffered due to Elynas. So it makes sense that people would be vary of melusines/creatures born from that calamity.
I am not trying to justify their behaviour, and in personal capacity Vautrin's actions somewhat satisfied me(even though i know that was wrong), but just saying that its not unreasonable for people to be almost violently vary and distrustful towards anything borne from Elynas.
The thing is that no one knew that the melusine was born because of elynas the only one that knew this are the guillotin siblings and the ordo narssinkreuz due to their research meanwhile currently the only one who know this are few melusine of the village and paimon and the traveller
@@massimilianoreali4398 i mean i guess it wont be too hard to guess no? That island either IS elynas or elynas died on it. Either way people never saw monsters like that before. And then some strange creatures, pop out of the land where the beast died. Infact they were born as you said due to the damage caused to elynas's flesh due to mining/battling etc. Basically giving birth to creatures that the world had never seen before. And they came from Elynas. So i guess people kinda associating them with elynas isnt that improbable
@@apoorvjoshi2383 i am pretty sure that the island is the body of elynas distorted by the passage of time because than the isle would have maintained the original name kannazuka/yashiori maintaned his name even when orobashi died on the island and i think exactly because of the rumors the normal people decided to not investigate about the origin of the melusine overly after the incident of carole imagine if some day you discover that your loyal and cute watch dog is a rifthound in disguise
I am sooooo happy that I won my 50/50 on his banner. Wasn't sure at first to pull or not but after all it was the best decision I have made in that game by pulling for a character. I love all of him. If you still don't know if you want to pull for him or not... let me help you: DO IT! 😁

i think since sumeru (3.0), characters story quest and hangout (surprisingly) keep getting better. just sometime this community dont want to learn characters from npc pov, they just want the character stay on screen 24/7 lmao
