Gillian Perkins I love your ideas and love your speech I have my channel need to grow as only couple of week I started but I am still learning
You are so amazing...đ
You are very pretty! I do not remember describing that for many girls/women. :)
great video
Your a good n beautiful speaker
OKAY but honestly this is now one of my new favorite vids... Who else agrees?
~ A small youtuber
I do
Me toođ„°
I do.
It was unnecessary to put âA small CZcamsrâ
Yea for the small peeps!!! I got you
Hi, i started my channel on Sept 1, 2019. Iâ m the Oldest CZcamsr in Puerto Rico đ”đ·. Thanks to Your tips and experience and sharing with us. I have gotten to work on my channel at 63. Hope to keep growing. I will be watching you . đđœââïž
Yes, recording is really tough, and you can easily get annoyed with yourself for messing up and having to repeat things. Biggest tip I give for people is to stay patient, and expect that recording say a 10 minute video may take you 1 hour or it could be 15 minutes. Just be patient, get it done, and you'll be glad you followed through. Great insights and tips here, Gillian!
so true, you have to be extra patient.
You're brilliant! Love the editing in this vid.
Gillian, I'm absolutely binge-watching your videos. Your are making the daunting and intimidating process of starting a CZcams Channel more achievable for the "ordinary" people and newbies like me. Thank you so much for all your advice. It is short and sweet and so to the point. Perfect.
Way to go. Thank you for being so transparent. This will surely help me write scripts faster.
Youâre changing my life for the better!đâ€ïž
Holy shit, Gillian! Everything youâre posting is exactly what I needed as Iâve been needing it lmao! Thank you!
I LOVE that you included outtakes! I've been doing that on my videos now for a couple months too, and it gets a really good response. It's been great watching your filming journey and how you've improved so much. Makes me feel like there's hope for my awkward self lol.
The way you filmed you editing and panning out is honestly one of the coolest things I've seen on CZcams! Even your mistakes look polished!
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this video. Thank you so much for being honest, real and raw. This is exactly what I needed to see to give me a little more confidence when shooting my own videos.
This is really useful, Gillian, for someone who just started a few months ago. Thanks for being so open, warts and all...
That was THE most generous CZcams video I've ever viewed. Thank you.
I'm heading over to your workshop soon.
You have inspired, enthused and excited me about bringing my valuable message to student Paramedics.
I look forward to the workshop.
Joe
This is exactly the topic Iâd been wondering so much about! Scripting my videos is what Iâm most self conscious about at this stage. This helps me stay reasonable and focused on whatâs important. đ
This was such a great video! I love your channel Gillian! You have helped me so much!
Thank you so much for including some of your redos! I tried to make a video and got discouraged because I thought that I sounded so awkward compared to youtubers I watch but itâs refreshing to know that youtubers donât say things perfectly the first time đđŒ
Struggling but Trying I once saw Video Creators go live WHILE recording their next video. The redos were constant and epic. It was hilarious because it was so familiar! đ Might be worth it to see if itâs still live!
Ooh, that's a great idea! I might have to do that!
Gillian, such useful information on scripting. Thanks for sharing. đ
Truth, for literally years I did not script my videos whatsoever, and while this led to me eventually feeling fairly confident talking to a camera and speaking naturally, it also led to some pretty rambling and probably boring videos at times.
Then I tried scripting the whole thing like you talk about. I like this since it gives the chance to say everything as I wish to say it, one issue is that writing I consider to be one of my strengths, probably much more than public speaking. Therefore I might write this great script but it does lead to all the awkwardness filming it, looking at my notes on camera (yikes) and so on.
I donât know why I never tried bullet points before, but Iâm definitely giving this a go for my next video! đxo
Gillian great video! Thanks for all the info. I canât wait to try this. Thanks đ
I give you props. Speaking from the hip on the outline is how the best professional speakers do it.
Fantastic. Not only did you provide an excellent example of a well-scripted video, but you gave me exactly what I was looking for, bam... bam... bam... I liked your closure too, and took some notes on that to use in my videos as well. Well done, Gillian!
I signed up for your workshop!!đ I really loved this video!! Thank you so much Gillian!!
This video was so good and exactly what I needed (as I was just trying to figure out the best way to script yesterday)! Thanks Gillan! đ
I'm finally starting to transition to the bullet point method. Thanks for the clarity Gillian and for being "real". Great stuff.
That was useful. Thank you for making this for us. Seeing the Outtakes made the ideas you shared resonate. It made me see the flow and the editing you talked about. Great work!
Great video Gillian, you're very methodical, as always đ I signed up to your Free Workshop đ
I've watched 0:57 min of your video and i want to say THANK YOU!!!! I have been looking for a video that helps explain how to write/get a good youtube video script going. Also you just vulnerably admitted that the entire process isn't this single cut process. The fact that you're honest and real makes me trust what you're about to speak about in the rest of this video. Looking forward to taking notes. Thanks so much!!!
This was so useful. I am starting out with my channel so this has been perfect timing. Im all signed up to the workshop
Thank you Gillian! It was helpful to hear examples of the two extremes and discover what worked for you between them. I've also found the bullet points work well for me, otherwise I'll sound robotic. Hats off to editors -- it takes me quite a bit of time editing all of my "ums" out. Appreciate your videos and insights!
Appreciate the tips!! Loved how you gave both pros and cons for each approach, cheers!
đđđI totally agree Gillian that both, fully scripting or just winging it, are not the most effective ways to connect with our audiences.
Plus, like you mentioned, it can get really hard to get our minds to be creative and flowing if we're too busy just desperately trying to quickly memorize and speak those words into the camera.
It's so much more natural and authentic when we can just relax and speak to our audience individually. More enjoyable to film and watch.
You're brain storming idea is a really great one. It really helps to get everything out and then organize into specific bullet points.
I found that really helpful especially when I was doing my coma series. So much happened during my coma and I wanted to make sure I made it all relevant and interesting/inspiring to my audience.
Using the mind dump method helped me get it all out and then I was able to organize the different themes into specific videos and scripts that followed a much better pace.
* What it was like to be in a coma
*what the coma nightmares were like
*what it's like to wake up from a coma
*and what it's like to keep on living after a coma and accepting new physical hurdles/disabilities
Gillian, you are a constant inspiration. You always deliver immediately useable insights that we can all model after.
Thank-youđ€đ„°
I script my videos from start to finish and honestly i must say it looks and feels like I'm reading or memorized it to just dump and move ahead and usually i feel a little tense filming because i don't want to miss a word. Thank You for these tips, bulleting to elaborate during the video will probably make me feel more relaxed.
I am giving you a thumbs up just on the little editing blooper reel you showed right before the 2 min mark. I may have been naive cause I thought something was wrong with me cause my first attempts at making videos seemed like I was making lots and lots of mistakes and required lots of editing and so that little bit of cute honesty from you made me feel less bad about myself and my first attempts. Thank You!!!!
I have learned so much from you! Thank you.
Loved the honesty in this, thank you!!
Oh wow, I really love step 2. That is such a nice way of thinking about the content.
Bullet points are the best way to go! I also do this on my channel and has improved my content a lot and my confidence too. Great tips!
I mirror-flip Powerpoint slides with bullet points using ppt mirror App and use them in a teleprompter to keep my conversation on target without reading a script to keep my eyes directly into the camera lens.
Gillian I wish I could give you a big hug! I have just started a business this year (Happy Healthy Kids Australia) and although I have had people already complete my workshops, I was at such a loss when it comes to marketing and filming online courses etc. and I was starting to feel a little down and overwhelmed about the whole thing. I have literally just binge-watched a handful of your videos and I'm excited and motivated to put them into action. Your videos are so clear and well explained. Thank you for helping me get out of a rut :) Thank you for sharing your incredible knowledge with the world!
Been slowly trying to cut down on the scripting to have more bullet-point type of script and I can already feel the difference just as you explained it. Definitely gonna keep shortenig it. Thanks for the awesome tips.
Thank you so much for putting this out. I loved how you put in bloopers and editing clips. Thanks for the tips. Keep filming!
Thank you, Gillian, for sharing these great tips! I'm guilty of many of the mistakes you've mentioned, and listening to you talk about them, has given me ideas and new ways of recording and editing videos. Keep up the good work.
Have a nice day.
Thank you, Gillian. That was brilliant: you covered some really crucial aspects that I'd been puzzling over for some time. My objective is not to create CZcams videos (not for mass consumption) but rather to make videos for my nearest and dearest, videos that don't totally suck (which mine do, I'll admit it). The bullet-point suggestion is gold. That, and how to actually do a shoot (keep the camera rolling). Superb video - thank you ever so much for it!!
When it comes to speaking to the camera vs tutorials, I am going to save so much time not stopping and re-starting taping. my videos. Thank you! Great tip!
I learned a lot from the topics at hand, but I now feel comfortable with the information from watching your outtakes. You opened up to us and now I do not feel like I am the only person who messes up like that and have to redo... Thank you for sharing that! I got this!!!!!
Omgsh I have been searching for months looking for someone that I followed to show the editing process and how to get to that point. Thank you for this!
As always absolutely awesome content and delivery!
This video is so helpful! I just started trying to film videos, but being struggled with hesitating. I'm so glad to see your video before I jump into over-scripting. Your video will save tons of my time, thank you so much!
đđđ I love seeing the editing in the beginning! #reallife
Thanks for that funny ending, making us feel like we r all the same and nobody is that perfect, it helps feel more connected and that we can relate more! Have a great day lovely! Xo marce
Your content is really enjoyable! Thank you for the great tips! Looking forward to the workshop!
Gillian, I love you! Just a few videos I have watched of yours have helped me tremendously. I am now publishing books because of you! Thank you from the bottom of my heart for all that you do.
Very inspiring! Good tips indeed on Editing and lightings, speaking with bullet points.
THANK YOU so much for showing all your mistakes. I watch videos like yours and try to make my own and then feel like such a dork because I can't seem to get a whole sentence out without flubbing something. This is so helpful and encouraging! And soooo much good information was in your video - thank you!
You are so natural and transparent... Love it!
This video is gold. It answered all the questions I had. Thanks a lot.
Thank you for showing me how to script my videos properly. I have always been doing a lot of freestyling and wasted lots of time doing alot of editing to make it less messy. Thank you so much for this video :)
The most valuable step-by-step video I've seen yet. Thank you! I hope to bring this must value to my viewers in my future videos.
Thank you my dear Gillian.you are just so precious to me.yoy have so generous with this video information. I look forward to creating my own video channel very soon
Thanks for sharing this, Gillian. I have restarted my travel challenges + travel info youtube channel and these tips.are super helpful.
Amazing! Thank you for all of your transparency and education! I can't get enough.
This is super helpful! I'm trying to minimise the amount of editing I do but I get a little rambly so having some bullet points is a simple but great idea. Thanks Gillian
I was watching raw footage for a video I'm making and realized, I was very disorganized (and some undesirable things in my background). I knew I had to re-shoot a good portion of it and needed to focus. That's how I found your video. Great video! All I needed to hear was this is similar to giving presentations. I did a fair amount of presentations in college and sometimes at a previous job. I always prepared bullet points beforehand. I found myself rambling after pressing record for my YT channel. I'm going to work on "organizing" my thoughts more and making bullet points (like I used to do!)
Thank you for the steering!!!
Some great tips! I've always worked from a full script as it helps me control where the story and the video is going.
I love your videos. They're so packed with knowledge. Thank you so much.
Amazing, thanks, you're vids are amazing and polished, great to see the background behind the brilliance.
Gillian Perkins I love you so much, your an inspirational to me and your the reason why I want to make my own channel.
This was so helpful Gillian! Thanks so much for making the process so much simpler for us newbies đ
You're awesome, thank you for being so open about your mistakes so that we are also not afraid to make them!
Loved the editing portion!! So true!!
Great pointers Gillian - easy to understand and straight to the point
This video just changed my life. As someone just starting out and just recording my first videos, itâs been really helpful. Thank you for sharing your behind the scenes.
Thanks for being real and showing the process. Loved this video!
Just got to say Iâm learning so much from you. Youâve been making me such a great CZcams creator
âCase in pointâ had me literally LOLing! đ Love the outtakes Gillian!
Tara Wagner Coaching hahaha. she is really beautiful.
she talks fast.

Loved this! The bloopers at the end were perfect! Excited to be subscribed to your channel.
love this! I've been binge watching videos on how to script videos. thanks for showing us the behind the scenes!
Great content! Quick question: whatâs the most efficient way to share the video with a non local assistant for them to edit it?
Well hello! I wanted to give up on my youtube adventure because you sound sooo perfect, I would never be able to do it! Thank you so much for being so open. I feel that my videos are a mess still and it is even harder because english is not my native language but i just hope to be helpful to other struggling parents.
I am working on my perfectionism because it caused burnout. So even tough my videos are not perfect I am uploading anyway just to get experience and try to be better.
Lots of love ( and chaos) from The Netherlands, Lenny
Hey Gillian, really love your videos and this one is a special one. It really helped me and I found it answer my question. I have signed up for your online workshop that you talked about at the end of the video, really excited for that. Keep making such amazing content. CHEERSS !!!!!
These are extremely helpful instructions, thank you!
Thank you for sharing your words and been honest with your self and all persons seeing it..!!! love that!!
First video of yours that Iâve watched. This is super helpful, especially because I think we have similar styles of speaking and word processing.
This video is GOLDEN!!!! Thank you soooo much! You are awesome đ
