I have a thrice weekly commitment to sit for four hours, and listening to RG recorded live shows makes the time whiz by. Even second listenings create the same level of appreciation, even more sometimes, for this man's artistry on, and mastery of, the piano. Awesome!!!

Saw him in the Blue Note in NYC last week (Oct 2019) and was blown away. It was the most perfect last night to our trip. I have NEVER been so thrilled by a drummer as I was with Justin Tyson. We came out of the club reeling.

There are tons of great pianists in the world, but none can do what Robert Glasper does... his innovation and approach to music has never been seen in my opinion... in today's modern area.
So envious of all the people who saw this live. Kennedy Center is one of my favorite venues in the US. And to host Robert Glasper?!?! Incredible night.

Speaking as a video guy they should have lit better if they were going to shoot this for streaming. Seeing what they were shooting it with I was wondering how it was going to look. Nice simple edits/switches but the lighting is not helping them. But good inaugural effort nonetheless! I will be back to the REACH for more artistry!

Why does the description say above at the end that it has elements of rock.. Where?! Jazz elements mixed with neo soul/hiphop, r&b. But i don't hear rock. Or roll.

Rock influence goes deeper than flashy power chords and electric guitar. Before fusion of jazz and rock, the majority of jazz drummers kept time on the cymbals. Rock drummers would use snare, kick, etc., and the two genres fused some of their ideas later on. You can hear some of that influence throughout the performance, with Tyson keeping time on the snare while the cymbal sorta rides on top. Speaking of drums, drum solos in classic jazz were relatively rare, and more common in rock. The presence of not one but multiple drum solos in this performance definitely feels rock influenced.
