May be it would be of interest to know that just few months ago, India has started an Technical university (Indian Institute of Technology) in Zanzibar, Tanzania. Drank pyramid shaped milk given for free to kids in schools, loved the mkate bread and not to forget the worlds sweetest potatoes. Even heavens dont have them thats what i say today to my kids in 🌏 Australia. Kenya is my Motherland, india my fatherland and Australia my Godfather land. 🎉❤

Lived in Nairobi, Kenya for almost 2 decades. Miss the Elliot’s mkate, Blue Band margarine,Ketepa chai and can never forget the School Milk (supplied in 200 ml. pyramid shaped packets) from KCC 😋. Looks like a shortened version of Kenya’s National Anthem; wished they had played the full version. Wish Dr. Ruto and the people of Kenya, the very best in all future endeavours.
The Indian subcontinent and East Africa have had relations before the colonial period. During the British period these relationships were renewed again and continue to date. East Africans were present in India before Mughal era, Mallik Amber and Siddis were from East Africa and have thousands of Afro-Indian descendants still flourishing in regions from Sindh to Canara. This Afro-Indian community is a peaceful one and well respected by their Hindu neighbours in those villages.
There is a big and successful Indian diaspora in East Africa for a long period. Mombasa and Zanzibar have long attracted Indian businessmen for a very long time.
Mombasa and Zanzibar were predominantly Arab population who lived peaceful with all races until the divide and rule politics in the sixties.

I was taken to Tanganyika when I was five and basically grew up there, also Uganda so always interested to see how these East African countries are fairing. I almost went to Kenya for my schooling, always wished I had as so much closer to home in Dar, but instead my parents sent me back to boarding school in England, I think my Grandfather helped out with the costs. Great to see Kenya leader being so well respected in India, even back in the 60’s there were so many Indians in Dar. Just the other day looking at how one of these female round the world motorcyclists was coping in Nigeria and seeing, despite its oil wealth, the country away from the capital is sadly neglected. Corruption is still rife.
It is the time for the Global South to unite.. We all are one.. love and respect to our African brothers from India❤
