This is brilliant. I saw them over 50 times.....if you think they were loud in recent times, you should have experienced them in the late 70's/early 80's!! They were unbelievable....the volume was through the roof...they fucked with your mind and ears....
That was the year (2005) when I have finally managed to see Motorhead live for the first time, in Cardiff ( it's not easy when you've lived on the wrong of the iron curtain). I was stood there like a kid in candy store with tears in my eyes, still could believe what was happening. My guts were trembling, heart was pounding I couldn't move... It was a most incredible 90 min of my life... And Overkill at the end was something out of this world.
HOW.... can 27 ppl dislike this? Motorhead is LEGENDARY in every way... this band... one of the best greatest.... God Bless Lemmy, Phil and Mikkey. True Legends is EVERY WAY... PERIOD.
The most fabulous three man band ever. I was at this concert and it was totally amazing. I am so glad I got to see Motorhead live but only three times in my life. RIP Lemmy,. Happy that Mikki joined Scorpions and have seen them too. Aint seen Phil because he dont tour down under. These guys were and still are magic.

That's not so uncommon actually. They actually work much better than sm58's when in a loud environment as they only pick up sound through the front of the Mike, unlike 58's which are more omni directional. Tom petty also used 57's. Motorhead were a very loud band so it probably prevented unwanted extra noise from the stage, bleeding into the Mike's.
This has nothing to do with the band but I think Motorhead is the only act I've seen thats managed to make the 120k par can lighting rig look cool. Metal as fuck one might say.

Gary Unsworth The Campbell Dee era was much better. Dee is a better drummer than Philthy and Campbell moves around stage like a lunatic! Eddie was more statue like. Hardly moved at all? Just danced on his pedals.

Did anyone else notice Lemy singing on on a SM57 mic used for instruments/drums. Never used for vocals
too many vocal mics burst into flames, got tired of replacing them, not to mention all the fire distinguishers.
