432 hertz ASMR: Is this frequency really MORE RELAXING than 440Hz?

  • Can you hear any difference? One of my subscribers, Xorak_91, asked me if I could make a 432Hz ASMR video, because it sounds more relaxing than the usual frequency. I remembered when I was playing the guitar and the famous A440 on was always appearing on my tuner. I also used to play with my tuner and to tune my guitar totally different than what one should expect. Anyway, I've decided to search about this 432 magic frequency "that makes sounds more relaxing" and foudn a few interesting videos. In one of those video, the guy tuned his guitar both at 440hz and then at 432hz and play the same song. While it sounds a bit strange at first, it sounded actually nice to the ears. So I decided to find a way to convert my regular recording to 432Hz (as I can't obviously tune the objects I use to 432hz :D). It was quite an easy process. But now the real question is: "Is this 432hz frequency Really more relaxing than the usual 440Hz?" You tell me! :)
    This video contains whispering and triggers like tapping, mouth sounds, water sounds, mic scratching and much much more.

    honestly I feel like 432 hz makes the sounds in general a lot "sweeter", like if it was covered by honey or something. It's hard to explain, but to put it short, this feeling makes the sounds a lot more relaxing and ear-friendly, not mentioning that the background noises are totally blackened and the sound isn't neither loud nor acute. I would reccomend using this set-up for future videos!

    • @bassist789
      @bassist789 Před 3 lety +30

      The sound wave is quite literally oscillating at a slower rate, and so the honey analogy is perfect, because just like honey; 432 is sweet and slooow. 440 is much brighter and good for a whole lot of music for sure, but there is a lot of soul-satisfying joy one can find in experimenting with some good ol' flatness.

    • @abinothere2413
      @abinothere2413 Před 3 lety +13

      432hz is a bit more bass-heavy than 440hz, making for a more rumbly sound. In the audio word, bass is sometimes referred to as the "sugar" of the song, nice in moderation, but sickly if there's too much. 432hz is high-bass so it's not as boomy as, say, trap beats but it's perfect for this video and your analogy makes complete sense!

    All it probably does is make the tone of your voice and the noise a little more flat. As a musician, I know that an A note is 440 hz. Some people claim that 432 is the better because it’s more spiritual (I won’t get into that), but I know that it makes the tone of an A slightly flat. Anyway, a great vid as always 👍🏻👍🏻

    • @rudylangin2370
      @rudylangin2370 Před 3 lety +5

      Yeah, it flattens the A, so one must lower the other notes in separate octaves by a degree to make it sound in tune. The thing is, the higher frequencies require much larger changes, so it’s very uncommon to leave common tuning. I personally don’t believe there is anything spiritual behind the tuning change, but the brain may take it a certain way. Although, there seems to be no purpose behind such an effect, so I think it just flattens the overall sound and you get used to it within a second.

    This video is NOT in "432 hz"
    Bit of misinformation on this one pierre. 432 hz is literally just 1 frequency. Every sound we hear in real life contains different frequencies for example, a person with a low voice when speaking might be producing 40 hz, 100 hz, 200hz, etc. all at the same time. Basically it's a LOT of frequencies, and 432 might even be one of them.
    In music, we tune only the note A to 440hz which would serve as a reference for every other note. It's a tuning system. So for example, in an A=440hz tuning system, the note C would be 261 hz.
    The sounds we hear in real life are not tuned to anything. It's a wide spectrum of frequencies. We most probably hear 432 hz everyday in our lives. The only place you won't hear it that often is in music since most of it uses a 440 hz tuning system. Therefore there is no way an asmr video is in 440 hz. The only thing that has been done here, was tune everything down by 8 hz. So if in the original file of this video, you tapped something and it produced a 550 hz frequency, it would now be 542 hz. That's it. Basically this video is just pitched down a tiny bit and that's it. But this video is NOT in "432 hz" because real life sounds aren't tuned to anything

      @lostrobotmusic Před 2 lety +2

      Well, to be fair, the video is still in A4 = 432 Hz in a 12-tone equal temperament system, while 440 Hz obviously is not. So, if there truly is any difference between the two, it would certainly be audible within this video.
      To be even more fair however, it has been scientifically proven many thousands of times by both musicians and scientists over hundreds of years that there is *not* any impactful difference between the two. This has been proven statistically with blind tests, scientifically with psychoacoustics, and even mathematically in countless ways.
      Any difference that can possibly be heard between the two is simply due to the direct comparison. Within a vaccum, well over 95% of listeners of here would not be able to tell the difference. What truly matters is relative pitch, and anything involving 432 Hz being a special frequency has no involvement with that.
