    That's exactly how I've been changing my Acura TLX 9 speed transmission fluid. I have 110 K miles on the car with no issues. Change the fluid every year.

    Honda recommends using the fill plug in the middle of transmission case not the top one to fill and check for fluid level, and tighten plugs only 26 lb-ft not 36.

      That's exactly what I was saying 😂

    Torque on those plugs is 26 foot pounds.

      Same. I've see 27 foot pounds. Thought 36 was high as well.

    Fr and rr diff are due every 15k 9 speed zf trans are due every 60k. This trans does not have a torque converter like the 6 speeds.

    No overflow valve?
    I think it's 26 ft pounds

    Near the end where you reference replacing the fill plug you are actually saying drain plug instead. Just FYI for clarity. Thanks.

    Needs to be drained, filled, and level checked while the vehicle is sitting level, not front wheels way up on ramps.

      We replaced what we took out. Measured the amount.

    Is the process the same for a 2017 Honda Pilot Touring which has a 9 speed tranny? I’m guessing the Pilot and Passport are the same for this, right?

    Good Job! And thanks for sharing. The 9 speed transmission has no dip stick to check the level or condition of transmission fluid. Do you have a recommendation after how many miles we supposed to change the fluid?

      Roughly every 40k miles or less if you really want to take care of your vehicle

      We were at 39k miles and had not yet got the alert to service it. Since we were heading where it’s hot figured it wouldn’t hurt and would enhance longevity. Thanks for watching

      It has the fill plug uses to fill and check for level as the same on rear differential.

    You don't need to put this in VSA maintenance mode to perform this service?

  • @figaro409
    @figaro409 Před 10 měsíci

    Do you actually need to replace the drain plug? It does have some sort of permanent seal already on it.

    Dealer is quoting my wife $345 for a drain and fill on her 2019 Pilot Touring. I just can't justify that price for this 😂😂 I mean do you think the dealer would be completely draining the transmission, torque converter etc. causing the price to be so high? The service procedure from Honda is WAY more in depth than just a drain and fill according to the PDF I have for it. What I'm trying to get to is if it would be worth it to have the dealer do it and if theres an issue it be on them rather than myself? Not feeling the vibe of potentially having to replace a transmission if something goes wrong lol

      @eddiesspeedgarage  Před 11 měsíci +2

      The fluid is expensive per quart. My son in the video is a Honda tech. I’m not sure what the pdf says but I’m sure there is no complete drain and fill performed.

      @@eddiesspeedgarage Pretty sure the dealer drives the car around back and lets it sit for a couple hours.. Then pulls it up front and collects their $350..

    I am curious as to why Honda charges $300 plus for the 9 speed if anyone knows?

    • @eddiesspeedgarage
      @eddiesspeedgarage  Před 3 měsíci

      The fluid is expensive was close to $40 a quart at the dealer

    • @johnathandunn7398
      @johnathandunn7398 Před 4 dny

      Shop labor!!!!! material is pricy also but not 3 to 4 hundred local shops are charging about the same as the dealer the only thing I'm seeing is the dealer does a level check which is a pain due to the steps and it has to be in a certain temperature range to do it which you cant tell the temp without an obd reader.

  • @kishetamara2851
    @kishetamara2851 Před měsícem

    That’s not how you do it you have to run through all the gears to check the fluid level
