This is a false equivalence: 17 hrs spent quietly sitting at my workstation for pay does not in any way equate to 17 hours spent sweating and working in the hot sun while breathing in exhaust and allergens. Good math, bad premise.

Of coarse your are correct that’s time spent in different ways are not the same experience. I am referring to time as the source for motivation buying one and claiming if the motivation is to free up time (Regardless of occupation or weather-conditions) the math says its not adding up.
And in many cases Sweating and working in the sun would be contributing to a better health compared to sitting quietly at a workstation.. So I agree that the value of time spent is very much about perspective.
