Used to bunk the shed on a monthly basis in the 1970,s. You never had any problems getting to the entrance of the shed, but regularly got kicked out once you walked around inside the shed. Great days.
Great video! It's brought back happy memories of when my dad used go take me, we never had the guts to go inside mind! Imagine just wandering around a depot today like we used to then!
Very fond memories of this place I worked there as an apprentice 1974-75 and as a Supervisor 1985-88. I noticed 08747 and 08888 which were specially treated for working through the wash plant at Heaton.

I used to watch the trains near the Gateshead depot as a child. It's sad the depot is just about all gone!
l went past GD some months back just a few buildins left
