I'm glad this term exists. I've always hated calling any living creature their "owner", instead I've always called myself their momma 🥰 I don't own them, I choose to love them and they love me back. It's a most beautiful relationship 🤗
Your Kahu is a part of your own body and soul..like a child..a gift from God entrusted to you, an Angel, for their safekeeping forever! Thank you Lord for my past Kahu. I had him for 28 years from a baby to his death.. We loved each other so dearly. I hope to see him again in paradise..a part of my heart went with him.😢❤.
So very true. No measure of time can ever be enough. Each member of our family was our Sprite’s Kahu. Unavoidable tragedy took our priceless Sprite colored grey winged parakeet to Heaven in the 1970’s. None of us has ever recovered that loss.
My budgie was my sister since she bonded with my mum more, so my mum is her mum too..❤❤❤❤❤ I miss her. She was really the missing piece between us mum and daughter.❤❤❤

The others a budgie and cockatiel which I brought to help him happy, are the ones that came to my sofa when I am sick and gave me company. I pet them in from of Jade, and I notice he desperately wants to copy them... He eats from my hand daily and shows he is happy, but when I ask him to step in my hand he is too afraid, maybe because he can't fly and is afraid of falling. They have cages but they leave happy outside in their room. ❤

I LOVE that! I have always said that pets DON'T belong to us, we belong to our pets. In return they do so much more for us than we do for them! This is a different bird. Beaker and Tink still have their baby girl (named Ducky) with them. Ricco was never with Beaker or Tink, he is 5 years old
