         I've used the fertility awareness method for over five years. This year, I started using ovulation test strips (OPKs and Proov's progesterone test kit) to get even more information about my cycle.
    In this video, I'm going to share with you my favorite LH test kit, my thoughts on the Proov test, apps I've tried, and what I'm currently using to chart my cycle.
    While I'm not a fertility awareness educator, I do use cycle tracking with my nutrition and yoga clients to get a good feel for how their menstrual cycles are going. I hope this video encourages you to explore fertility awareness for yourself.
    Plus, I’ve got a very special giveaway for you! Two winners will receive a Proov Predict and Confirm Kit.
    Want to enter? Comment below with a new video suggestion or question. You must be 18 years old or older and a US resident. Giveaway closes on December 21, 2020 at 11:59 pm.

    Woah! Stress lengthens my cycles. Specifically, I will ovulate at a normal time but then have longer luteal phases by an entire week sometimes. It has been discouraging because many FAM educators preach that if your period is late, it means you ovulated late. But that is just how stress manifests in my body and I have had to trust my intuition and my FAM tools on that one. I think the most important part, which you articulate and embody well, is that every body is unique and our most effective family planning is our own body knowledge! Love you sister ♄

    • @LiveFertile
      @LiveFertile  Pƙed 2 lety +3

      Hi there! I love that you trust your own experience. I'm super curious about the mechanism behind a longer luteal phase under stress. I'm going to do some digging and see what I come up with. Thank you for your comment!

    • @thesoundsofearth4454
      @thesoundsofearth4454 Pƙed 2 lety +1

      @@LiveFertile hello! Thank you for your reply. Just for more specifics, the few times that I have had a late cycle, it usually happens when I get ill or take a trip after ovulation. Like I had a 38 day cycle where I ovulated normally, but then got food poisoning a few days later and this prolonged my luteal phase. I'm also very curious about the mechanisms because the only things that I find are PCOS (which I have no other symptoms of) or short luteal phases (which I have never had).

    Do you have any recommendations for someone not wanting to use condoms during ovulation? Any thoughts on spermicide or something similar? Also is there a waiting period to start tracking after stopping birthcontrol for your cycle to become more regular? Do you have any tips for switching off of birthcontrol to this method?

    If you have pcos, and you have cervical mucus does that mean you have ovulated?

    • @LiveFertile
      @LiveFertile  Pƙed 3 lety +1

      Hi Kelsey. Good question. The short answer is, no. Typically, the presence of cervical mucus is a sign that your body is preparing to ovulate, not that it has already ovulated. Post ovulation, cervical mucus begins to dry up.
      Did you have a chance to watch this video? czcams.com/video/pvUd9mPCsl0/video.html
      Caitlin does a great job explaining cervical mucus and what it reveals about where you are in your cycle if you have PCOS. I also recommend looking into Clara Bailey’s and Lisa Hendrickson-Jack’s work.
      Hope that helps!
