  • Syride have teamed up with French electronics company Active Look to offer a Head-Up display option for the Sys’Nav XL flight instrument.
    The instrument can be paired with compatible Active Look sunglasses via the Syride app, and the HUD used as a second screen to complement data displayed on the instrument. We tried out the Engo glasses that Syride are distributors for for the free-flight market

    Congratulation to the developers. It's beginning of a new era.

      The ActiveLook BLE interface is well documented, and I was able to add support for those glasses in my own Garmin watch vario app without trouble. I hope others take advantage of it (Skydrop, etc.)

    37 years ago I fixed my vario LCD display on a ali HG batten fixed to my helmet. I got my vario display in front of my face while flying. I loved it. So finally something to beat that. ;)

    Works also on the AIR3 with XC Track by the way with these glasses but in colour!

    Looks great. I'm looking forward for it to be integrated into contact lenses, with augmented reality for Airspaces and visible thermals ;-)

    Can you tell me how it behaviours in case of oversight/hyperopia? Are numbers still visible and sharp? I have a slight one - like +1

    Not sure what exactly the orange hardware does and if it’s serving a function not possible on the phone. The glasses can connect directly to the phone and the phone can have app to track speed and altitude etc…..

    Can you wear them over prescription glasses?

    Very nice. Can they work purely from a phone app? In other words without the Syride instrument?

      Yes, XCTrack has an interface to ActiveLook. I also added an interface to my own Garmin watch vario app.

    A bit of topic but could you also use them for skiing? Do the datefields show you the speed and everything?

    • @xcmag
      @xcmag  Před 4 měsíci

      As I understand it yes there are apps for skiing that will give you relevant data to the glasses

    • @CuivTheLazyGeek
      @CuivTheLazyGeek Před rokem +1

      Actually useful. I have altitude, groundspeed, vertical speed, glide ratio, and heading as an HUD and it's very convenient not having to look down at a vario
