Great review Tim. I had not paid any attention to Asus phones but got to say this one is impressive. Asus may be one of a few phone manufacturers that makes phones with headphone jack, home button and touch id. This could play in their favor.
Guy Davis Touch ID is for iPhone. On Android is just called a fingerprint sensor. I know it's not really a big deal just wanted to point that out. ☺

ankur tripathi Yes they are this year it is more about Google planning to remove the headphone jack from the new Pixel 2 and 2 XL. Last year Google made fun of Apple for removing the headphone jack. Now Google looks like complete hypocrites.
Guy Davis wireless is the future so, we can't do anything. It will get some backlash at first but ya know in the end people with accept it.
ankur tripathi you are right this is the direction and the headphone jack is gone. I will say Apple has incredible brand loyalty combined with a product that lasts a good long time. People love Apple and will buy their phones or hold onto their current iPhone until one comes along that they love. Samsung probably has the most brand loyalty among android phone makers. As a Pixel XL owner I can say Google is a newbie and has little to no brand loyalty. They have lost most of the Nexus crowd and the more they design the Pixel just like the other phones, people like me will look for other options.

I was going to get the Iphone X but I then saw the ASUS ZenFone Ar and immediately bought it. This phone is amazing and is my favorite phone.
I bought one last month for $250 USD. I love this phone. It's way ahead of any phone currently on the market for AR & VR. It's disappointing that Google abandoned Project Tango. The 3D scanning/mapping features are why I purchased.
I also love The Asus Zenfone AR it's my number one most favorite phone of all time even though it's 2019 and there's now new high end phone's i still love the Asus Zenfone AR. I will love it forever
I had an Asus phone and was in my pocket while I was in the sea for five minutes. It still functioned well, i couldn't believe it up to now. What a solid phone!

The phone comes with XS, S, and L earphone pads because the Medium ones come on the earphones by default.
The specs in this phone is pretty impressive. I hope we get more Tango built-in devices in the future.

I was a Samsung user, bought an Asus as a secondary phone. Now, samsung is my secondary and using Asus as my main phone. You can never go wrong! Asus creates really good phones thats affordable! This AR is awesome!

tango uses inferred sinsor to see where the phone is not just the accelerometer. the camera can also since depth. it is very similar to the kineckt.

I think Asus is a decent phone. I'm using a Zenfone 2, which I bought 2yrs ago and I think it's still running okay but it has degraded a lot from when I first used it. So..I upgraded to an s8 (will arrive tomorrow).
This phone is extremely suitable for me. firstly i'm a gamer, the 128GB and 8GB Ram allows me to last long with this phone. secondly, my hobby is photography, the 23MP TRIcam with depth and distance sensor makes my shots beutiful
hi Tim, i'm new to your channel... i had a zenfone 3 before but had to ditch it and go with an s7 edge because the GPS wasn't very good on the Asus. Now, the VR/AR on this thing really interests me so can you please do more videos on it and please include GPS performance? thanks so much, your new subscriber...
oh in case you're wondering if i'm happy with the s7 edge, yes i am but i must say that getting a good screen protector for the edge screen that doesn't degrade the touch performance is quite difficult and despite the tests, gorilla glass 4 does get scratched. so, getting back to a flat panel screen is a big plus for me for evaluating my next phone choice.
Bernie Gregorio gps performance is excellent on my zenfone 2. It's one of the reasons I still use it. Also, it's compass is snappy and accurate, good for navigation.

The headphones remind me of the 1more triple drivers.
Edit: I had the triple driver headphones for a while. They sounded great, but 1more's build quality is *shit*. Had the first pair for a week, audio jack started to get fuzzy. No worries, right? Emailed customer support and I got a new pair within 3 days. New pair? Well that barely lasted a week. Mic and controls wouldn't work.
Returned them, got a refund. 1000/10 would not recommend getting these headphones.

Strange that it comes with 7.0. The update you got then should have brought you 7.1.1 because all Zenfone 3 phones have 7.1.1 by now.

Umm....mine is Zenfone 3 Max ZC520TL, it's just 7.0....

I saw the selling point for me 16mp at 16:9 aspect ratio at 16mp not 23mp but that's what my note 4 makes so I think #ASUS here I come

So I recently bought an Asus Zenfone AR and it was absolutely terrible. What was terrible about it? It kept crashing every 5 Seconds. And plus it was just an ordinary generic Android phone. And I barely even dropped the phone and I had to get the Moto Z2 Force because it was the only one available. (And thank God for that.) A black hole appeared on my screen when I dropped it and it took over my whole screen. And that's why I am never getting another Asus phone. (No wonder they quit making the model.)
