Dear Lad. I remember all the commercials and I remember this movie. I am in my late 90s. I sure miss those years. Thank you for leaving the commercials in. 👵🙏
You lived in some seriously cool times! I just learned about this movie today! I'm 23, and a lot of this stuff tends to interest my generation
89 years young here. I can relate
Hi! Yes, those were great times indeed. God bless you. You've lived a long life. Not many make it to that age!
Wait a minute here,, you in your late 90s??
@@FernRoses my goodness that's unreal even 89 yrs old to me is a major accomplishment.. Just to go through everyday life BS is enough to drive a person nuts, let a lone make it to 89... you're basically 90 yrs old.. When I was born you was already 39 yrs old.. unreal
After all these years I still miss analog TV movie nights.
Same, and I was born long after
Me too, family was close then.
Me too!!! It gave so much more meaning to movies.
I do too!!!
Nothing like a “cheery” news teaser about 2 day old baby found in a dumpster to kick off the movie. Now sit back and enjoy the show....My God.
That's Detroit in a nutshell.
Omg lmao
That what I was saying a minute ago. Incredible! We never had such in France.

Thank you for keeping the commercials in. I remember all of them.
I recognize the woman in the Anacin commercial. She went on to be famous.
Me too!
I’m LOVING the old school commercials!!!!
Loni was fantastic in this role.
People give Arnold alot of crap for his acting but I say look at his TV work in the 70s. He has charm
He does have a lot of charm.
He was a very handsome man and his accent charming
Still bad acting.
He has charm and the charisma to boot. The accent might be seen as the sticking point.
And an excellent governor- the only good one we Californians have had this century!
These shows kind of feel like a time machine. The commercials, interstitials, and imperfections put you in the zeitgeist.
I saw this about 30 years ago and have never forgotten it! I especially like the adagio dancing, it was my favorite part!
Jayne's daughter Markiska Hargitay told a story on Conan where Arnold came to her house to talk to her dad about playing him in the movie. She was 13 and very awkward with braces and felt very insecure. The movie TEN came out with Bo Derek and when Mariska answered the door Arnold said "Ten! Your an Eleven!" And that made Mariska feel good.
That math isn't adding up. Mariska was born in 1964. This was released in 1980. So Mariska had to have been about 15 or 16.

Ah, the good old days, when CBS was on Channel 2, where it belonged!
CBS should always be on 2, everywhere!
@@ChristopherSobieniak CBS got as many affiliates as possible on Channel 2, as the signal had the strongest reach possible...although when advertisers began looking at demographics, they realized those stations were gathering viewers older, poorer and less urban than desirable. That is the foundation of the "Rural Purge" by CBS of those shows watched by such audiences.
(although in Boston, the educational/public station has always been 2)
In South Bend, the CBS affiliate is on 22. Close enough for government work and horseshoes.

All what Markita went through as a child and all the drama she went through with her parents, it made her a strong woman in the long run. Jayne did love her children too in spite of her flaws. She was very vulnerable as well.

I loved being a child of the 70s and a teen in the 80s. Pure cheesy all around and I wouldn't change if for anything.
Wish CBS NY would use the full open on their Sunday Night Movie.
Man and thought I knew Arnold's entire filmography
Mickey Hargitay was such a good genuine guy. Jane was so lucky to have him in her life. Jayne Mansfield didn’t want to be good she wanted to be famous and more sexy, pink and funnier than Marilyn Monroe that she was stuck on her than her own career and life.
1:03:07 this really got me when I think about Arnold’s life.
They say nothing about her relationship with Anton Levey or his church.
Wasn't Arnie just fantastic in this?
Loni was the perfect person to play the late Jayne Mansfield I own this
movie on DVD.
Granola clusters were good!! What happened to them!??

Thank you for sharing this wonderful movie 🎥❤
This was before Arnold got an acting coach, I imagine. Your contact from Boston is serving up some GREAT selections. The commercial breaks make them perfect.
How about the ads for Linda Hamilton and Mickey Rourke's film? What an interesting coincidence.
thanksso much!!!!!!!!!!
Good, but they really got the facts wrong about the crash.
Yeah and they said she was 36. They mixed her and Marilyn up. She was 34.
Weird to see commercials from when i was 7 but not on the same continent.
@55:55 That looks like the male actor who played "Dr. Rick Webber" on "General Hospital".
OMGOODNESS... DID SHE REALLY MAKE THOSE GOOFY NOISES?? 🤔🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
No. You can look up old interviews of Jayne Mansfield here and hear how she really sounded. She actually had a very beautiful speaking voice.
@@missmerbellaAccording to The New York Times, she had a fitful career hampered by her flamboyant image, distinctive voice ("a soft-voiced coo punctuated with squeals"), voluptuous figure and limited acting range.
Yes, but not all the time, it was contrived.
She only when she was buttering up the producers, directors, and the media.
Otherwise she had a regular, normal, softer speaking voice.
The real Jayne Mansfield didn't sound like this.
She may have had to use those noises in order to convince studio creeps that she was "dumb" enough (i.e. sexy) to get the roles, pay the bills, and then hopefully move on to a better version of herself. Unfortunately, that never panned out. Like Marilyn, she was forever typecast as the sexy, "dumb" blonde. No one ever gave her the chance to show what she might have been able to actually do. That's the real tragedy behind all this. In the end, it cost her, her life. If she hadn't had to resort to nightclubs at the end of her life, if Hollywood had treated her better, she'd not have been in that car wreck. It's a tragedy among many actresses, especially back then. You had to be giggly, a push over, and sexy or no studio would even look at you. They weren't interested in women for any acting talents. Women were trophies in the 50's, as far as the film industry was concerned. Something pretty to pair alongside a handsome actor.
Yes, she did but not all the time. It was contrived.
According to The New York Times, she had a fitful career hampered by her flamboyant image, distinctive voice ("a soft-voiced coo punctuated with squeals"), voluptuous figure and limited acting range.
@@MystiKal_Raven And those squeals were so annoying.

Thanks for the Upload 👍 !! XD
I love this channel and enjoy watching the uploads - thankyou. Just one question though about this particular movie .... surely Jayne Mansfield didn't keep making those high pitch squealing noises! Honestly its hurting my ears!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It does get annoying after a while.
I hate those high tone gigles. It is had to believe she was such a phony and sooo self centered and all that alcohol did not serve her well. This is a sad story. Her husband seemed like a decent guy. Thank you for running this movie.
@@sherrybudreau7100 She put on the phony act to make money and be famous...most people would giggle and act dumb if they got well paid for it...I'd do that to make big money if I could. She was though self-centered as she's portrayed in this movie, and like most vivacious women in Hollywood she wasn't treated very well by Hollywood...they saw her as a gimmick to make money and cared less about her emotions...this made Jayne upset as it would anybody. She did allow the alcohol to become a bad thing in her life...alcoholics lose control and often have nobody to help them, plus they're hard people to help. Her husband tried as best he could, but she rejected the help it appears. Yes...sad and tragic.
The real Jayne Mansfield didn't sound like that at all. If you look up old interviews of her you can hear how she sounds.
GD Spradlin was a truly great character actor. RIP
can you get any full broadcast movies from the 90s from cbs, abc or nbc with the commercials?
Mariska (3-1/2 yrs. old) and her brothers were in the car in the back seat. . . .
At 34 Minutes .. G D Spratlin.... I am more familiar with his role as Senator Pat Geary in Godfather II....

The commercials are fine, but take that news updste off the video.
I turned this off twice due to that offensive opener…..and It is great to watch Loni Anderson in tnis….just edit that !
Who did the music/ film score for this movie ?
It's ironic and sad. Marilyn had all the good parts but wanted children and she couldn't have them.Jane wanted the good parts in movies but she couldn't have them. Either way if they had just been happy for what they had. They might have lived longer.
WONDER HOW OLD IS THIS MOVIE
1980.
Jayne Mansfield's youngest daughter is the star of Law & Order SVU, Mariska Hargitay! She was the baby that was in the backseat when Jayne had the infamous car crash that took her life!!
Er . . . Ms. Mansfield wasn't decapitated; her wig fell off on the impact, her body was intact.
@@wmbrown6 um, really. I always heard she was decapitated. Well, almost decapitated. I mean, the head wasn't completely detached from the body.
@@TheNameisPlissken1981 - No, but as I said, her wig sure was.
@@wmbrown6 gotcha. I changed my comment. Hopefully, I don't find out later Mickey lost her head in a poker game.
After Jayne's death, Mariska and her siblings lived with Mickey and his new wife, a TWA flight attendant. In August 1973, the aircraft Mrs. Hargitay was on had a freak incident where it violently climbed and dove until it could be brought under control. She and several other people were injured--one man ultimately died. That was even more traumatic to Mariska, as she was older and more comprehending of what the situation was.
Weird to hear Danny Dark voicing a CBS movie trailer. Wasn’t he usually doing that for NBC?
He also voiced Superman in the Superfriends cartoons.
"Ring Around The Collar!" Wow, I totally forgot that one! Too bad, I thought it would be followed by Juan Valdez and then the Doublemint Twins :)
The big surprise was Mickey Rourke and Linda Hamilton in a TV movie! P.S. Look up Oregon vs. Rideout and see what happened long after the court case :(
Who uses an entire bar of soap in one shower? Old commercials are bizarre and funny.
And what kid cares so much about soap
The agent looks like Juan Martinez
Talk about perfect casting. Both Lonnie and Arnold could be their twins. Mansfield’s struggles in life, dismissal as just a dumb blonde with large “endowments”, and her grisly, early death while in the same car as her children is all so sad. Utterly, terribly sad. But not as sad as the continuous news reminder of a dead baby in a dumpster, more at 11. 😫 On the bright side, SIZZLEAN 😂
That's a famous case, a teen girl gave birth during prom and put the baby in a dumpster
@@juliannehannes11 *She was the one who portrayed herself as a dumb blonde with large endowments* a persona that was not as popular anymore once Marilyn was gone and the Mid 60s rolled around when Slim & Skinny was in. Real talent would've made her a success with longevity in Hollywood but *she was so obsessed with trying to be like Marilyn and so desperate for Publicity* that she has deemed a Clown due to her constant Publicity Stunts & provocative Magazine cover photos. *_This ruined her chances of being taken seriously for big Movie Roles. She did 12 Movies MOST except 2 were Crappy_* and NOT seen by a majority of people. She could've been way more. Her personal life which she allowed Cameras into, even into her home, did not make things better. She was Married & Divorced 3 times with 5 kids from those marriages; kept her 1st husband's Last Name. *Fooled around with other Men while married* to each Husband.
2 while married to Mickey Hargitay, *were highly-publicized Affairs.* She *married & divorced one of the lovers* _(3rd husband),_ they had a Son. After that, she was with the lawyer she fooled around with while still with her 3rd husband. The lawyer died along with Jayne & the Driver the night of the accident. All this was left out of the Movie.
It was said *_"her personal life out-rivaled any roles she played."_*

how sad she wanted to be maralyn but couldnt if only she had tried to be herself
*EXACTLY! There was only 1 Marilyn* and she took the Cake. Jayne should've just tried to be Jayne even with the new look. MOST people never knew about her until a Movie was done about her. Also, *MOST people never saw her few Movies.* She did Nightclub Acts, was a Publicity queen who did all types of Photo-ops, Grand-openings, Naked photos & playboy and very attention-seeking for the Cameras to remain relevant, but never made it big. Too bad because she had a lot of Potential. Also had a nice shape but as for her Boobs: *_She had a huge 'Rib-Cage' that made her breast look bigger than they really were_* this was very apparent. She had so much to offer but became more of a joke later on due to her doing _(was unhappy & an alcoholic)_ and resorted to doing mostly Night Club acts. Yet her Bio on Wikipedia speaks of her like she was actually this big influential actress when *_the World knows it was Marilyn to this day and no one was a threat to Marilyn ever._*
It wasn't until TV Movies started coming out about Jayne Mansfield *years after her Death* that she was appreciated and added as one of the blonde bombshells in her days. She was forgotten.
Sadly, *her Death is the most publicity, notoriety, & fan-fare she received her entire existence,* other than when she married Mickey Hargitay the Hungarian Body-Builder who was linked to the famous Mae West.

I PLAYED A HUSBAND!!!
I have a couple of minor quibbles: was it really that hard to get a 1950s or 1960s fur coat? The scene in which her daughter is giving her a hard time about leaving, Jayne is wearing a fur coat (looks like fox or raccoon). The style of that coat is wrong for the time period of the movie. Next, in her final scene she is wearing an animal print fur or faux fur. It is summer in Mississippi. Yeah it is supposed to be night time, but late June in Mississippi is hot and humid even at night. That coat is an odd wardrobe choice.
But Jayne would be the type to wear one even if it was hot. That was one of her trademarks.
I noticed that about the fur coat too. It’s an 80s style fur…would be perfect for Dynasty.
Cj love for the pink lady
Thanks for the upload, I'm English and never saw this on TV here. Jayne had a very pretty, soft face - Loni Anderson looks nothing like her, and that's so obvious in the beginning when she wears black wigs.
She only got the role because she was a bottle blonde like Jayne, but there the similarity. ends! The dark hair reveals how plain Loni's face is actually - and the various cosmetic surgeries are all too obvious.
I've always said you have to be very pretty to be stunning with dark hair, but any plain girl can dye her hair blonde and be passably attractive. Loni proves it!
No, not anyone can look good with blonde hair. You can only look better with it, lmao. It can take average to stunning, but if you’re simply just not attractive hair can only do so much...
Blonde's ass. Blonde is vanilla.
Loni Anderson has never been attractive. I don't even know how she made it in Hollywood?!
There are very few drop dead gorgeous women in Hollywood. Most are simply the 'girl next door' with someone able to keep up their hair, makeup and wardrobe, imo 😉🤭
Loni may not look anything like her but I think her acting is very good.
I tried going blonde for a minute but you're right, it just doesn't suit some people. Now I'm happy to be auburn. My hair is brown underneath, auburn all over with bits of light highlights of blonde from the sun. Glad I'm not 15, trying to fit in anymore.
This is an excellent movie and it's very well cast...not only looks but talent, but it's very hard to watch these characters live like they did - condescending dirtbag msnagers snd lying studio execs treating Mansfield like she was a special needs student in search of a participation medal.
It is scummy. But Hollywood was a system back then and if you didn't play by their rules, you weren't invited to play anymore. I think that's what happened to Jayne. She did a lot of things the studio didn't like, such as marrying Mickey, having many children and her tawdry publicity antics. She became a liability to Fox's image at the time so they dropped her. Very sad.
