In 5 hours we traveled from Bukavu to Goma. from South Kivu to North Kivu.
Congo is blessed with these two provinces near each other with these two strategic towns

J'ai fait la traversée Bukavu-Goma via le Emmanuel 4. Incroyable et mémorable croisière. Juste fantastique! La RDC est vraiment un pays spécial. Une culture incroyable et beaucoup de potentiel touristique malheureusement miné par un gouvernement oisif et peu soucieux du bien-être de son peuple. Les gens ont faim, c'est vrai. Et c'est triste. La réalité m'a frappé, durement. Mais j'en avais besoin. Besoin de le voir de mes propres yeux pour le croire. Et bien j'ai vu. Mais j'ai vu aussi une grande humanité, et de l'espoir. Le peuple congolais mérite de vivre en paix.

@@Perfectafrika Pour l'anecdote, à Bukavu, j'ai vécu une situation particulière: alors que mon guide me faisait visiter son quartier, situé dans les collines qui surplombaient la ville et le lac Kivu, je me fais interpeller par un étrange vieux monsieur qui m'amène (presque de force) dans une cabane en bois avec le titre ''Police'' peint assez grossièrement à l'improviste avec de la peinture. Un type étrange, qui me rappelait Eamon Walker à l'époque où il interprétait le rôle d'André Baptiste Senior (président fictif du Liberia - mais référence à Charles Taylor) dans Lord of War avec Nicolas Cage. Un charisme imposant, une dégaine à faire claquer les dents. Cet homme se présente d'abord comme policier. Il contrôle mes papiers, ma carte jaune. Puis, au bout d'une demie-heure, il s'assoit devant moi avec une machette et me dit ''C'est bon tout est en ordre, mais j'ai besoin d'eau potable''. Trouvant la situation loufoque, je tends un billet 50 USD au gars qui change soudainement d'attitude. Il me serre la main comme un vieux pote et on se fait une accolade. Mon guide me voyait déjà presque mort mais je suis sorti en riant de là ^^ :)

I traveled for the last time from BUKAVU to GOMA by boat in 1992 when the country was called ZAÏRE. By then I was a teenager. Can't wait to visit this region of my home country again.
