    The final track from my collection of old goa trance tracks made in Impulse Tracker. This one was finished on May 18, 1999 and it continues the gritty aesthetic from the previous track. The Hallucinogen album The Lone Deranger is still the main inspiration here, and this track is literally my take on Snakey Shaker from that album, although I'm not sure if it was my actual intention when writing this. Sometimes things just go the way they do. The 7/4 time signature in the middle part was definitely influenced by the first Shpongle album (which in itself was quite the revelation to me back then).

      I guess you mean the 7/4 time signature? It's quite rare in psy/goa trance, but more often used in downtempo and such (and prog/space rock of course for example). Thanks for listening :)

    • @hendrixplek
      @hendrixplek Před měsícem +1

      @@pauleye.official yeah, it's 7/4, right. you dont hear that so often even in prog and space and psych. 7/8 or 5/4 are far more common, this is why this caught me so off guard. Certainly not common in trance. A guy I used to party with was a psycore producer (he passed away, sadly...) and he once made a track in 7/8 and called it intelligence trance music lol.

      @@pauleye.official can you do automation in trackers? I always wondered how exactly bedroom producers worked back in the day.

    • @pauleye.official
      @pauleye.official  Před měsícem

      The concept of "automation" doesn't relly apply to classic trackers, since there isn't really anything to automate in the first place. More modern trackers like Jeskola Buzz or Renoise (which I'm not actually that familiar with) do feature automation since they can host plugins, which have parameters you can automate. As for how I worked back then, 25 years later I can't remember the exact process I went through to finish the tracks, and every artist of course has their own way of working so I couldn't give you a universal reply anyway :) I do remember that I worked quite linearly through the arrangements, and also as a little ancedote I do remember writing down melodies and ideas in my school notebooks, often in the middle of class :D

      Yep, completely sober. And interesting that Koxbox connection, I haven't heard the track in quite some time, need to take a listen to freshen my memory. I do have the Forever After album (but I didn't have it back in 1999, that I'm sure of).

      Hmm, it's been years since I've last needed to find samples of any kind so I'm probably not the best person to answer this. Freesound.org might be a good place to start, as long as you know what you're looking for. I've seen some positive comments/mentions of the Adventure Kid waveforms (but I've never used them myself). As for my own Impulse Tracker sample library, I won't be sharing it :)
