- In honor of National Farrier's Week, 'If horses were people' is back...with a twist! In this edition, Sarah and Sara tackle the trials and tribulations of farriers everywhere!
As much as we love our horses, some of their behavior is a little...weird. Imagine if your best friend or co-worker acted like that? That's exactly what we did, and we think you'll like what we came up with!

As a farrier, this amused me to no end because you guys absolutely NAILED it. That SIGH, was THE SIGH, we all know. And oh my gosh, the hoof polish was a nice touch for the end.
This must have been so awkward for that poor farrier 😂

I remember when Sarah used to follow the farrier around the barn and assist him as he worked. He was kind without condescending and was one of the important people who empowered her and helped her become the amazing person she is today. It is so great to see her play the horses that tormented one of her mentors all those years ago.
Ok, when is Sarah going to win an academy award? This is awesome! :-D

As my dad has to trim my Arab gelding's hooves (he thinks farriers are going to steal his feet) I can say this is completely accurite!

This series always makes my day! This is why I love horses so much, they can just be the silliest animals sometimes, but it just makes me laugh.

My father was a farrier. Then you have the owners who never trained their horses to lift their feet and rxpect you to do it. This brings back so many memories for me, his assistant.

We do our own horses and this was hilarious.....so true to what we deal with ....I will think of this video every time we do their hooves!

I was watching this, and my farrier walked up so I showed him, and he just nodded.
Post another one soon! I love these so much! You should do one about blanketing, like running away when trying to put it on, ripping it or always finding someway to get it off, also like small injuries scuffs bites ect... Found randomly, also padock troubles, everybody trying to come out at once, getting out, eating grass instead of going through the gate, not letting you put the halter on, or not being able to be caught. Just a few ideas! I'm a stable hand so I've seen it all and have plenty of ideas

I kacked myself watching this video! It is so funny and accurate.
But its all because we don't teach our needs in logical steps for the horse.
I haven't used a halter in years, my horses pick their own feet up, I yell "who wants to get their feet done" and all 3 horses come running from down the paddock and jostle for first position.
I sit on a milk crate and use a cordless grinder.
However they also get rewards of carrot rings after. While being taught they got rewards all during the feet trim as well.
Its all to do with taking the time it takes so it takes less time. Its up to the owners or handlers to train the horse properly so the farrier won't have a hard time. Farriers get such a hard time from badly trained horses.
Its not the horse's fault. It's always the person's fault.

My horse likes to untie himself. Lean on the farrier and then go to sleep whilst putting all his weight on my poor farrier at least he's only 15hh and slight!
My donkey likes to basically lie down and move about but getting much better as she's only a baby.
