There is a vibe of Harlequin from Genesis which is my favorite song ever.
This demo is gorgeous. The image is wonderful, the sound atmosphere around too, and both of you are performing incredibly well. Shoutout for this insane guitar part that you play all along singing.

The Bygones is in MHO the best of Josh's collaborations. Allison's vocal instrument is just so accomplished, the results are always stunning.

To play that guitar part and sing is top shelf. I haven't heard that tune before but the chords are ethereal, especially with the drop D tuning. And singing harmony that fits those chords is wonderful. If you messed up I couldn't tell from out here. Another winner from The Bygones.

Those lyrics about growing together combined with the beautiful open chords, that Josh is playing are so full of beauty and compassion for songwriting. That was the coloured highlight of my grey-day!
You both are incredible musicians and that's a fact, but I am always impressed by the lyrics in so many songs by Josh and his various collaborations. "Let it decompose and feed the roots of who we wanna be" is a truly inspired line here, it conveys so much in just a few words and truly gives the whole song its fundamental meaning, for me.

I’m a lot older now than when I used to ride the bus carrying an acoustic guitar and vinyls of my then favourite songs (Donovan, Dylan etc) to visit my girlfriend. Your videos take me back to how I used to feel so passionately about songs sung without artefact, without “production”, direct to the heart. So, from my memories of over 50 years ago, thank you - most sincerely, thank you both. Just keep doing what you do - you make the world a better place.
