I'm a former city dweller turned organic farmer and I've had chickens for ten years with every coop design imaginable. I think I've finally designed the perfect chicken coop for my needs- it's a SELF CLEANING, mobile chicken coop, predator-proof coop design. It's super efficient, it keeps my chickens safe, makes egg collection easy, and, bonus, it's a tiny version of my existing barn here on the farm! This chicken fortress keeps pests and predators away, is well ventilated, and, best of all, it can be pulled around the farm with my golf cart! Keeping chickens mobile is the best way to take advantage of their "chicken-ness" and use it for the good of the farm. With a mobile coop, chicken food costs stay low because they forage for greens, and bugs on their own. Free range chickens are the happiest, healthiest birds. They turn all those greens and protein into rich, delicious eggs with deep orange yolks. They aerate the soil with their scratching and dusting, keep fly and bug populations down, and fertilize the grass while automatically mowing it! Stationary coops are popular, but they concentrate the chickens in a single area making disease, bad smells, bugs and scorched earth from concentrated manure a lot more prevalent. Rotating the chickens makes our grass healthier, keeps our fly population down, and helps keep our livestock from having parasite problems. Stay tuned for the next portion of the build as I complete the exterior, create a rain collection/automatic watering system, and add side access doors for the egg collection!

😂 when you started to sing like a rock then where is my hairbrush, I thought, "I do that when I am working on projects, too! There's hope for me yet! Maybe this will be me in the next 5 years." Just starting our big, little 15 acre homestead. Thanks for giving me idea's for making the journey easier!
Love it. Genius idea to trailer mount the whole thing and the self cleaning aspect? 💡 double genius. Build on sister!
My favorite shot...@ 5:12 with the chicken looking down on you as if to say, "Good job there!"
We bought our last trailer from Tractor Supply. It was significantly cheaper than Lowes/HomeDepot/NorthernTool/etc for the same identical trailer (they all are made by Carry-On) by a few hundred bucks.
Yeah I was really pleased with it, it was exactly what I was looking for at a fraction of the cost I expected.
I really liked the 'building the nest box' shot ,,, where a chicken is sitting just above your head ... supervising everything you're doing.
There are a lot of animal supervisors always looking over my shoulder, disapproving of everything I do ;)
Sorry I didn’t catch when you left Seattle for Tennessee. Smart Move. Excellent Build and Mobile.
Bummer we missed each other! Thanks for the kind words! It’s been a wild year since the move to say the least.
Anne Your farm animals are so friendly & involved with your project. Never thought farm animals could be so friendly & cozy to human. Remind me of the being the Farm Animal Whisperer.
I noticed the pro move of using the drill as a hammer when you were doing the gable sheating :)
Every tool is a hammer ;)
@@AnneofAllTrades unless it's a screwdriver, then it's a chisel
@@jeremydooley7620 Still a hammer too.
I just love the out-takes at the end, you're just so damned adorable. Great little mobile coop, good job. Glad you remembered to go back and install the z-flashing.
Thank you! The bloopers are always my favorite part. Poor Jackie having to edit these videos hahaha
I had over 200 chickens and this coop looks amazing so far, where were you, oh yeah seattle. Loved the bloopers, who doesn't talk and sing to themselves when working. : ) peace
Thanks so much! Excited to finish it up!
Your enthusiasm is wonderful.
So happy to share some smiles whenever possible!
Another amazing video! Thanks for sharing your knowledge, Anne.
So glad you liked it!
I used a TSC Trailer to build an enclosed trailer for our road trips. After five years it is still going strong. Great idea for the chickens, I wish you all the best for your farm.
That's a great idea! Thank you!
That’s so cool I’m sure my chickens would love one of these if only I had somewhere else to drive them 🤔 I also love the outtakes they are hilarious 😂
The outtakes are always my favorite too
Great idea. Loved the help you had from all the animals. Bloopers are the best! Lol
Thanks so much!
Rock on Miss Anne.
Ummm. This is the greatest video I’ve ever watched on CZcams. Absolutely fantastic idea!
Wow, thanks! That's quite a compliment!
You never cease to amaze me with your knowledge!!!!!!!!!!!!! Keep it up your incredible and inspiring to me!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks so much!
Excelente Anne , good and easy chicken coop , Thanks 👍
Thank you!
🌞Great video!! Thank you for sharing!🌞
Thank you! Cheers!
Very nice. Now I just need to figure out how to insulate it for winter use in the north. Straw on the floor, during the cold months, perhaps. And sandwich walls. And ventilation with heat exchange.
Straw on the floor and a removable solid panel for the front gate is how I plan to do it!
@15guinea as mentioned in the video, painting and other finishing touches are coming in the next video ;)
You made Larry the cucumber proud. Lol.
The farm is looking very nice.
Blessings to you and your family
haha! Thank you!
Built one when I had chickens, 8' x 12' X 24 high, covered in chicken wire, light enough to pull around with a chicken waterer on a shelf. Kind of minimalist style.
That's great!
Fantastic build- love it!
Outtakes = gold
haha glad to hear it!
The Outtakes! 😂😂😂😂👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
Yep- building this.
Glad to hear it!
I love cupolas and eggs.
as do I!
Okay. I'm hooked on this project even though I live in an overcrowded Los Angeles neighborhood with a landlord who won't allow us to have chickens. I'll have to live the country life vicariously through you. Please post next video ASAP. This afternoon would be good.😎👍 (I guess your chicken foreman drives you pretty hard.) I do have one concern. I saw rabbits who had their feet & nails ripped apart when coyotes got under a hutch with a wire floor. It was awful. Maybe fold down panels in outside for when it's stationary to keep predators from getting underneath
P Taylor she has an electrified-fence around their perimeter to keep them out. That plastic white netting stuff she climbed over. They’ll be good and safe.
Adorable
Love it. I just got some meat birds at TSC. Thanks TSC, for your sponsorship.
I'm thankful too!
great job Anne
Thank you!
👍👍👍👍love the mobile, revitalizing the pasture coop!!
Thanks Gib! Greener pastures will be growing around here before we know it!
Definitely the best Coop ever! Great work
Thanks so much! Just wait till it's totally finished!!
Ahhhh, always a pleasure seeing you wielding power tools ! Great way to start a day :)
Right?!
Awesome and like how the chickens show up to inspect their new digs Anne
hahaha so many building inspectors everywhere I look!
@@AnneofAllTrades 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Great build, Anne! Outtakes are awesome!! Tell the truth you practiced some of them, Lol!
Haha 100% unscripted. Poor Jackie
You make me feel old. I was 19 and working at a Christian bookstore when that VeggieTales episode came out. They played that "Where is my Hairbrush" several times a day for months straight, that I memorized it. But I didn't mind. It's a really fun song. 😂
ha! It's so weird what sticks with us for decades on end.
Nice build! If you mount a rain barrel to the tongue of the trailer you can collect straight off the roof of that coop and not have to worry about hauling water to them (as much).
Oh just you wait... something really fun is coming in the next video 🤪
Good job as usual kid. Keep up the good work! I'm also a Milwaukee Electric fan for life! Best tools and their batteries seem to last for ever. Well at least the ones I use do.
Thank you! I'm a big fan as well. The thing I'm a biggest fan of is the diversity of tools on a single battery platform. I hate buying different batteries that don't fit in all my tools

Love it, if you find another one of those you can turn it into a mini chuck wagon that you can use when your out & about your fram .
That would be cool! I need a wagon for my golf cart.
That's cool; you're awesome; love the out-takes!
Thanks so much!
Thank you for the outtakes 🙏 without them I would be hating how perfect you are. As it is I still see you as an inspiration. 😅✌️
You are so welcome! The outtakes are always my favorite part :)
Tractor Supply! Nice.
Great Idea! Enjoy your videos.
Glad you like them!
Hello Anne, great idea for the chicken trailer.
No body likes to be I told you so , when I see people put things to hold in their mouth it reminds of a old habit I used to have until I put my keys in my mouth one day and they twisted and took a large corner of my front out.
Be careful I love all you show.
Oh NO
How horrible
My favorite Veggie tales song is the "cheeseburger song " my wife hates it when I sing it lol.
hahaha! So good
Glad to know there are others of my tribe out there. LOL
Yes I am a big kid for a 40 year old. LOL.
@@alaskanken2132 I know it's not a contest but I've got you beat by 10 years or so and I've made sure my kids know them to.
@@ericjohnson1008 hey man that's great 👍
Awesome mobile chicken coop. I enjoy watching you build stuff.
Makes me want to make something hihi..
Thank you! You should!
Great job Anne!
Thank you!
Great video I was waiting for this for so long
Thanks for your patience!
Bought the plans and calculated rough cost of materials off the list, materials run approximately $1500 excluding the trailer as of July 2024 lumber prices at Lowe’s
Thank you for doing that! Lots of folks have been asking and prices have changed so much I wasn’t sure what to tell them.
Awesome work Anne, looking forward to the rest of the build! 😃👍🏻👊🏻 ..... When you blocked the trailer so it wouldn't catapult, I immediately thought about a chicken being launched and landing on Lucy, I guess I've played too much Angry Birds over the years! 😁🐔🐷
hahahaha well.... guess how I knew it needed to be blocked ? 😜
@@AnneofAllTrades 😁
The outtakes are great!
they're my favorite part!
I like the you use Milwaukee tools👍
Fantastic build
I'm glad you like it!
Watching you build this coop makes me feel like I want to get out there too and build something for myself.
That's definitely the goal, so happy to hear that!
That’s a damn good idea Anne. Only you Anne, only you!
Thanks Lee!
Very good Job on the Chicken Coop .on trailer .
Thank you!
Road Trip!
hahaha yes!
Another great build , I'm always amazed on how you get anything done with so many distractions around you , sheep , chickens , donkeys , camera lady 😁, anyway awesome work 👍
hahaha the distractions definitely abound!
Clever and quite good looking!
Thanks!
Goats and a donkey cameo. My Sunday is complete. #moregoats
I need to figure out how to get them in more of the videos. They really are the true stars
I could watch you and your videos all day. There’s something so relaxing about them. You make everything look so easy so I appreciate the bloopers! I’ve recently discovered that I love woodworking but I’m not very good at it. Practice makes perfect I guess. Question - will the bottom of the trailer be OK for the chickens feet? Their toes won’t get caught?
That makes me so happy! So glad you're dipping your toes in woodworking! Practice makes better for sure. The trailer bottom isn't an issue for the chicken's feet, they are pretty good "perchers." With the coop in use since March, I've yet to see them have any issues with it.
That is really cool. I like the idea and so do the chickens I presume.
They seem pretty happy, and that makes me happy :)
Très joli travail bravo à bientôt salut Jeannot 🛠😉
Thank you!
Add a Bestnest box to the coup for the best in egg collection.
I am partially disabled this is going to make my life so much easier..Thank you so much for such a great video... but for me I would have to add extra rodent protection underneath... I am a retired health inspector so I am always looking for holes or openings to cover..a Dime size hole is what a mouse can fit through and a quarter size hole is what a rat can fit through ... Thanks again
I guess becuz they move so often rodents aren’t a problem? They don’t find them in time to hop aboard? 🤷🏼♀️
Joel Salatin didn’t mention rodent protection either nor others’ plans I’ve looked at.
Dude you are hi-larious! Thanks for being awesome.
Thank you :)
This is amazing!
Thank you!
Brilliant! I love it 😍
Thank you! Cheers!
Haha... outtakes sections are the best.
I love bloopers the most too!
Anne, what an awesome idea
Thank you!!
I really like that idea...a lot.
Glad to hear it!
I love your coop I’m doing the same thing have you ever had weasels get in
I’m super EGGcited to see how it all turns out! Did April get to visit while she was there helping Greg with his porch?
Thank you! Unfortunately no, due to the pandemic I didn't think a visit would be wise.
When I talk to myself it is called having a staff meeting. What is it called when you sing to yourself.
A concert! haha
Contractual negotiations.
Good idea. You and that golfcart have hit it off!
We are in LOVE and we don't care who knows it!
I’ve been wanting a few acres for a while now, when I get them I will be building this coop.
Heck yeah! Farm life is the best life!
Iam in love
Anne keep up the great work and the cool projects make on my friend
Thanks so much 😊
Anne of All Trades ur very welcome my friend
Awesome idea and a great build as usual. Only thing I would look out for is snakes coming up through the floor. But who knows, maybe a small snake would just turn into chicken feed.
I did think about that, but I think snakes small enough to fit through the slats would become chicken food. I’ve seen my chickens eat smaller snakes several times. If they were to get in, if they had a full meal while in the coop, they’d probably get stuck.
Good morning from California 💗
Morning!
Great video and project. I probably missed it somewhere but I was curious how many chickens you run in this coop? Thank you.
Good video, great for small farm production. Joel Salatin has a great plan, but it is to BIG for small farms. I like the outside gathering of roll away boxes.
This coop is definitely my small version of Joel's concepts, I have learned a ton from his books and talks.
He has chicken TRACTORS
A 4 wheeler is all we gots here lol
So the small coop will have to do
We’re grateful for the 4 wheeler!
I enjoyed the build but the bloopers got a subscribe! Best part of the video! 😂
hehehe the bloopers are the best part of every video
"Oh where oh where oh wheeeeeeeere.....is my hairbrush?" That's a great idea to make it mobile. I don't have chickens (nor do I intend to), but a cool build either way.
Just came across this build and its amazing. What is that roofing material and can you share a link? Thanks again!
I almost thought this was sponsored by Milwaukee.
Where is my hair brush is my favorite! It's really funny when I sing it because I'm bald.
🤣🤣🤣
NIce tools.
Thanks 👍
Nice
That coop is built better than my house..
hahaha thank you I think?
Well, like any good home owners the chickens were making sure that their contractor was up-to-par!🐔🐔🐔
My job sites always have plenty of inspectors!
Greetings from Argentina
Thanks for being here!
Plenty of inspectors with this job..LOL. 🐏🐓❤️🙏
You got that right!
Three words: You’re awesome, Anne.
Awww thank you!
I almost bought a hay wagon then realized it was way too big. Thinking smaller. This looks perfect. How many hens do you have in it?
