    Did the same job on my 2001 Firebird last year and finally got the lowering brackets installed recently. Its a must when you lower your car. The suspension angle will change
    at the lower control arms and you will lose traction when you launch . I used BMR springs and KYB shocks.

      I still got the fronts to do. I can't use the brackets for the springs cause they rusted. I need to get new hardware. Car ls in the garage in peices. I drove it with the rears and felt the difference. Can't wait to have it all done

    Have you ever thought about doing the heater hose mod on the spring? It gets rid of the rubber piece that goes on top of the spring and lowers it about another inch

    • @chemicalspore

    u think getting this kit for my v6 be suitable? the oem stock spring rates are different in the front from the ss/z28 , idk how much it would change the feel of the car , only asking to see how quality ride it is

    • @chemicalspore
      @chemicalspore  Před 3 lety

      The ride is going to be much stiffer. Hard bumps will not be as smooth. It is great on smooth roads and in the turns. The SS and Z28's comes with a tighter supsension than the V6 since they are higher end models. Be sure you use rubber bump stops.

    What do you think of the koni yellows on lower perch with heater hose mod on rear without lowering springs?

    • @chemicalspore
      @chemicalspore  Před 3 lety

      It might stress the shocks out. The socks were made for lowering springs.

    • @s2k442
      @s2k442 Před 3 lety

      I was thinking of getting a slight drop in the front with the lower perch along with the heater hose mod in the rear. Would like a better stance with my 2002 vert without lowering springs? Ive heard good and bad with lowering springs. I would think the koni yellows would be an upgrade over stock shocks no matter what springs?

    How's the ride quality?

    • @chemicalspore
      @chemicalspore  Před 3 lety +1

      Its not bad. Car sticks in turns better than stock. I recommend getting rear coil overs for a better over all ride

  • @s2k442
    @s2k442 Před 4 lety +1

    So how is the ride now that car is lowered? Any scraping or bottoming out?

    • @chemicalspore
      @chemicalspore  Před 4 lety +1

      It rides pretty damn rough on bumpy roads at high speed. Barely anything on smooth roads. Have to be cautious om speed bumps. I put polyurethane bump stops to prevent bottoming out

      @@chemicalspore its this that is making me NOT want to even try the Strano springs and shocks honestly. I have heard people say keep the stock springs and add stranos thicker sway bars front and rear with upgraded shocks instead. I may just go this route. Thanks for the honest evaluation. My 2002 vert is spongy at the moment even with only 5,000 miles on stock suspension. Just want to tighten it up some.
