    @8:52 So if I have the 01 JAPAN version and I just want to transform it into a 02 USA, I should remove D423, D420 and add one of those two 0 ohm resistors to D413. I'm not interested in MARS mod. Let me know if I understood this correctly when you have time please. 73

    • @n5yiz
      @n5yiz  Před 10 měsíci +1

      That should give you default english(remove D4323) and default US band plan(install D413). Remove Japan EMER from emergency menu(remove D420).
      For those wanting MARS and default english. Just remove D422(MARS) and remove D423(english). With MARS, you get one band edge that covers the entire frequency range. You can then add your particular region limits by manually setting band edges. Save those settings to the SD card and then you have a base setting you can restore if you ever have to reset the radio.

      @@n5yiz I just got a new 7300 from Japan and it came with Version 1.42. I removed D422 and D423 and did a reset and it didnt give the one wide open user bandplan like you show, it still shows the Japan User bandplan. If I set it to On (Default), the whole .1 to 74.8 shows as TX, but if I select the On (User) it follows the User Bandplan that is in the radio which is the Japanese bandplan. So they must have changed something in the firmware. Either way it still works, just a slight change.

    Thanks for the nice video, how is the diode matrix occupied at the end? Which diodes are in it? and which ones are removed? In the Japanese version (the 406 was in it - this was removed again)
    and 422 out and 416 out. Result: US band plan? The 423 and 420 remained there. I don't have anything open - so does the 413 have to be added?

    • @n5yiz
      @n5yiz  Před 5 měsíci

      Sorry for the late reply. Just remove 420 and 423. That's get you default English and default US band plan.

    Thank yoi for this video. Very informative. I have heard a lot of back and forth om whether or nkt the Japanese version was any good here in the us. If you intend to do the MARS mod, is there any downside to the japan model? Is there hardware missing compared to us model? Thanks

    • @n5yiz
      @n5yiz  Před 7 měsíci

      No difference at all. Just make sure you don't buy the IC-7300S or IC-7300M models. Those are the reduced power variants. 73

    Does anyone know What D416 does ? I removed it as well as D422 from the USA version and wonder if it is necessary to instruct the unit for RX filtering ? It seems that people only remove it from the Japanese version .The unit still seems to work the same .

    • @n5yiz
      @n5yiz  Před rokem

      That's a good question. I was thinking that if any of the other configs or regions restrict RX, removing D416 would override those restrictions. The 7610 service manual (and others) have a diode labeled "gen RX". I assume that's what D416 is for in the 7300.
      I'd also like to know what diodes D406 and D409 do. They are clearly marked in the manual, but no versions have them installed. I'm thinking about finding out.

      @@n5yiz Based on your knowledge do you think each diode changes a setting independently?

    I have one Japan Version of IC-7300 and one IC-7300M
    I have two questions.
    1. How to make IC-7300M transmit 100W?
    2. How to make IC-7300 Mars Mod?

    • @n5yiz
      @n5yiz  Před 9 měsíci +1

      Coverting the 7300M(or 7300S) to 100W can be done by Icom for $75. There are details on the Icom Japan website.
      MARS mod for the Japan version is the same as the U.S. version.

      @@n5yiz I still want to do the 100W mod by myself. Please guide me through this.
      I have noticed one thing. D406 was there in the Japanese IC-7300M. The only difference between JAPANESE IC-7300 and JAPANESE IC-7300M is the diode (D406). Hopefully that will do the work.
      Even after removing the Kana and Emer Diode, in the language section Japanese is still there but ENG is default.

    • @yoon388
      @yoon388 Před 9 měsíci

      @@n5yiz I have figured this out. I told you I had a JAP Version and that too was 7300M, so when I was looking into the diode matrix, I saw D406 was there where it is not supposed to be there. Removed it and calibrated the power in maintenance mode and boom! it is done.
      I assume D409, D406 and D403 is the diode for power settings. D403 is there only, for 100W; D403 and D406 for 50W and all three for 10W (IC-7300S version). Removing those diodes respectively and calibrating power in Maintenance Mode will do the necessary work.
