- Liverpool FC captain Virgil van Dijk speaks about the news that manager Jürgen Klopp has made the decision to step down at the end of the season. Van Dijk described his emotions when he and the team were informed at the AXA Training Centre - but went on to reiterate the boss' insistence that all focus should remain on the pursuit for honours in 2023-24, continuing with Sunday's Emirates FA Cup tie with Norwich City.

Nah come on. We expected him to leave in two years. The shock is it came early.
Would be great, right? But he is an absolute high-intense manager/coach and that he did not suffer until this point is crazy... So it is a really wise and healthy decision to take a break for 1-2 years and i think the perfect fit would be the manager/coach for the german nationalteam after that. Not such an HUGE amount of work, everybody in this country wants to see him as the nationalcoach and we could be succesful again a WIN-WIN-WIN so to speak. Even though i am german, my premier league heart was always with Liverpool since Michael Owen back in 1995-1996? A big loss for the league, but Klopp is honest and transparent, if he says it is time you can be 100% sure it is the right decision.

Youre not wrong ofc but I think to say he is just a man is downplaying who he is. We've had many managers since the start of the club but only 4 really stick out. Shankly Paisley Dalglish and now Klopp. He embodied everything that the club is about and he took us from a very low point in Liverpools history back to the top. He will be a huge miss but life does go on and I really hope we dont end up like Arsenal after Wenger and United after SaF.@@HessenUK
I guess it took Klopp an enormous amount of energy to overcome last season's downfall, that would have put a shadow over his legacy. He turned it around in a magnificent way, to endorse his great legacy. The price him to pay was an enormous amount of energy. The moment is so much right to stop. I hope Liverpool will finish first in the Premier League this season. Keep my fingers crossed for him. The King of coaches.

I was very sad when we lost the Europa League to Sevilla... when we lost two finals in the Champions League to Madrid... when we lost the Premier League by one point on two occasions... Bobby Firmino, Henderson, Milner Mane and others left our stars. When I heard the news that Jurgen Klopp will be leaving at the end of the year, I was shocked and saddened. It is the hardest news I have ever heard as a Liverpool fan. It is as shocking as the loss of a close friend.
Trophy aren't everything. Klopp gives the best matches, great comeback, real football this years.

Now that I've had some time to process the news I can understand Klopps decision to step down more. It must be tiering to do what he's done and compete with a limited funds compared to some teams. He even said that his type of football requires intensity and emotion and that takes energy. I remember him not being able to go to his mothers funeral and focusing on helping the club in 20/21 season. It just hurts because he's managed to create such a family atmosphere among the players and fans.
It is the same thing Greg Lemond felt the year he came back...his rivals are 5kph faster than everyone else. He knew there and then something has arrived on the scene.

He does mean a lot to the EPL. He has made it a better league. I'm a Gooner, but have had mad respect for Klopp since I first saw him and his teams in Germany. I thought he was a perfect fit for Liverpool. He's an all or nothing kind of guy with huge integrity. I understand why he's leaving, but it is still very sad for anyone who loves the beautiful game.
He's my favorite active manager and I wish him all the best!

Klopp has been for this generation what people like Kenny and Shanks were to Liverpool. Not just a great manager or player but a heart beat of the club and city. I'm so done with my life. This is unbearable :'( But I'm Happy For These People. My Grandpa&Pet Went To A Better Place And Jürgen Will Have The Time off to re enter his fuel and if he is happy, we will always be happy. Let's make this season a special one from here.
