    Thanks. I was trying to figure if there was trick to those speed nuts. Ended up breaking off the plastic studs (guess I pried too hard). Put small tapered screw into the ends of the plastic stud to hold the timer on. So far so good.

      Yes. The previous models had screws to hold it in place. These speed nuts stink.

    Thanks. Know I know how to get those (not so speedy) speed nuts off. I prefer the screw mounts on the previous models.

    The Defrost Timer is Not located there on our (year 2000) 36 inch Whirlpool French Door.

    I have this same fridge. Where is the temp gauge for shutoff? Is it the little spring under the defrost timer housing?

    I'm having a hard time releasing that locking tab from top of the housing there. I don't know how you did your so effortlessly so I'll just replace my timer when the housing is hanging
