Times are changing for the major Kansas sports programs, Kansas is no longer the laughingstock of Power 5 football and Kansas State finally has a basketball team who can legitimately compete.

I'd say we've had a "legitimate team that can compete" since 06/07 in recent history. 11 20-win seasons, 9 NCAA tournament appearances, 2 Elite 8 appearances & highest ranking of #3 over the span of 16 seasons seems pretty "competetive" to me.

This was a really good game
Too many turnovers from KU, especially from DuJuan twice, one at the end of regulation and the other at the end of OT. KU could have easily lost to OU, OSU, and Iowa St. KU also missed a lot of free throws while K State was excellent from the line. KU also has a bad habit of shooting three’s early in the shot clock as well as just bad shot selection in general. Would like to see Grady put the ball on the ground more when he gets in slumps. Can’t win em all, good win KState, no excuses from us KU fans. KU had more than their fair share to win that game, just executed poorly.
Come on some of those calls against us were bs and also he was out of bounds at the end, kansas should of got the ball back with 1.5 sec left, but yes we did miss too many free throws and missed a lot of 3's, we will be a tough out come march

Saw K State have some pretty weak calls called on them as well. I am KU fan and thought the refs were bad, but they were equally bad for both teams. KU didn’t play well and still had a chance to win that game. But I’m excited for the stat line to come out. How many threes did KU shoot? The reason why KU has been so successful is he preaches high percentage shots. Specifically shot in the paint through a high low offense. Wilson and McClur are both shooting that much for NBA scouts IMO. We’re KU man, we won the title last year, basketball was invented here, we’ll be fine.
@@beantown4life the officiating was bad both ways. And I’m not sure they could have safely checked the monitor to overturn that. K-State fans have shown they have only slightly more class than Mizzou fans where Kansas is involved. The timeout killed Kansas. Would’ve been up 4 with 40 seconds left.

They were 6-27 from three. Hindsight is 20/20 and KU had gamepoint twice, and DuJuan had two turnovers both times. Free throws and foul trouble played a big role as well. My point being, one play doesn't decide the game. KU not even attempting a shot or getting one off twice is slightly embarrassing for a KU team.
Not gonna mention that if he didn't and it counted there was still 40 seconds to go.. they should have just taken one of their infamous half court layups as time expired.. oh wait that only works in Allen Fieldhouse... my bad..
@@goop3213 I know your taking a shot, but yes, they really should have not shot so many threes. That's why he called the timeout. 6-29 from three. At some point, you have to have the self awareness that you aren't that guy that is so good at shooting that you can "gun" your way out of a game slump.
Exactly. You don't call the TO until you see how the shot lands. Bad call on his part. And bias on ESPN's part to not include it! There's quite a bit of anti-KState bias in this series of clips. The vast majority of the clips skip K-State bumping up the lead. They're mostly just KU running a good play to chip away at that lead.

I think I know which play you’re talking about. Refs were bad both ways. If I’m thinking of the same play you are that attempted steel was going out of bounds so wouldn’t have made a difference
Man, that happens. The key is to not put your fate in the hands of the officials. They are supposed to only call what they see. A lot of calls were presumed. Both ways. It was pretty evenly bad. IMHO. A couple of those dumb fouls early in the game ended up being pretty important late. I agree that it wasn't a good call, though. But this loss was not on the refs.
Harris is a good point guard, but sometimes as a point guard, you've just got to shoot the rock and make it count.

8:10 KSU was out of bounds, right?? Hard to tell for sure with this camera angle, but it seems really hard to believe no part of his upper torso/shoulders were out of bounds with 1.8 seconds left.
These refs were absolutely atrocious. A lot of the most awful calls were in KU's favor, so I'm not complaining like the calls cost KU the game or anything. I'm just saying this honestly might have been the worst reffed game I've ever watched. It is ridiculous to see 67(!) free throws in one game.

I’ve had family members harassed and verbally abused by K-staters and they aren’t even KU fans or sports fans. It was all because they’re from Lawrence. Dollar Bill $elf is sure not getting his money's worth out of this current group of highly paid mercenaries. After scrambling to beat nearly every team they've played this season, KU still found itself number 2 in the rankings, no doubt thanks to some deep pocketed alumni. But after this abysmal loss to a terrible Wildcat team, KU should plummet straight out of the top 50. It's clear to all that KU needs to fire $elf, hire a less shady coach who hasn't committed multiple NCAA violations, and start over. Maybe in another decade or so, they might be respectable once again. Maybe.
