How could one ever adequately praise such violin playing, it's impossible! This gusto, color, swift unerring precision, confident strength, poignant delicacy--all expressive of a firm and lofty soulfulness--Amazing!
This is not only the most perfect performance of one of the greatest concertos ever written, it is the best violin performance I have ever seen or heard. When I first saw a video of this performance almost 5 years ago, i knew that Anne Sophie-Mutter had almost single handedly ruined one of my all timed beloved pieces of music, because I can no longer listen to any other violinist play this song. I fell in love with this woman during this performance. Absolutely unreal.
God I love Anne-Sophie! How can you not? She has the most mature, gorgeous sound I've ever heard. Her dynamic range is amazing, so dramatic; her pianos give me goose bumps they are so stunning, esp. the ones without vibrato. I love the way she starts the ricochet in the cadenza, too. Always have. She doesn't do it as cleanly here as in her old recording, but it's still amazing. Her interpretation of the Mendy is my favorite (at least for mvt.1). When I was learning mvt.1 I tried to begin the ricochet that way and my private teacher laughed at me and said I wouldn't be able to pull it off, haha. So, I didn't do it, but I hope I'll be able to when I go back to it someday.
¡Claro gracias a MENDELSSOHN!
Anyone who can't befriend themselves with this interpretation needs to seriously review their own interpretation. Personally, I can never tire of listening to this.
His intro is a bit shy ... but eventually it the expression of the soul of the movement very quickly and not loose more the whole orchestra! Fabulous emotionally because each instrument is expressed with clarity without the soloist or other set are muted ... harmonization and rhythm in tune with the whole make expressive movement ... the work is so touching it is not necessary to customize as many are interpreted. I prefer AS Mutter as more faithful to what the mvt1 the vehicle or another want to showcase their violins ... thank you Ms. Mutter because I appreciate the mendelssohn mvt1 and not the interpretation of mendelssohn mvt1.
Excelente Violinista , es una interpretación con un rigor y un elevado nivel expresivo, su sonido tierno y su maravilloso timbre hacen del Concierto una interpretación Magistral.
I understand you. We can compare Mutter with Ibragimova: Mutter's perfect technique moves the challenge on time and pitch, she guides us in lights and shades of the Mendelssohn's concert.Black and white are sublimely expressed such as forte and piano. Ibragimova don't want to take our hand, she makes us part of her interpretation and shares with us the creative instant. Her music is shy, fragile, amazingly touching. An"absolute"interpretation has given from Mutter,a "relative" one from Ibragimova.
9:55 to 10:03 is the most unbelievable piece if violin repertoire I've ever heard. Not one human alive does it like her. I've rewatched this a thousand times and I've compared with every performance out there. This is God tier talent.
Well, where shall I begin? I hear a very smooth transfer from sadness to happiness; from the serious to the not so serious etc. I certainly don't hear your interpretation. However, if you can give us a better interpretation then I'd love to hear it.
Way too fast for my liking but i sure do love the sound she manages to create even without a shoulder rest. Still it's so rushy i had to check the speed of this video because i refused to belive they really went this tempo and they did.
Open two youtube windows. Have Anne Sophie Mutter in one playing and the other have Hilary Hahn interpreting. It is rare we can see two inspirational violinist, one playing technically excellence and the other playing a world above.
5:16 why did she play the last note like nothing? i want longer or i mean the transition between the next theme is awkard i find that most of performances. they suddenly chaange temmpo faast

This music feels like a gloomy rainy day from the start.

I have loved the way Ann-Sophie plays from the first time I heard her play. What virtuosity! Brava!
Do you mean bravo?
Bravo is an Italian word, and in Italian “bravo” is masculine; “brava” is feminine word

I agree -- she absolutely owns this piece.

Was für eine wunderschöne Musik! Bravo, Anne Sophie Mutter, das geht mitten ins Herz...
I could be listening to this woman play all day and all night. Absolutely marvellous.

"mature sound"? what's that ? LOL
Sam: Good luck with it! 🎶🎶 It’s not as easy as she makes it appear, is it?
A gorgeous and oh-so-talented woman. I never tire of listening to her.
The most amazing violinist! There are many, but only one Anne!
i'd die for that bowing arm....ah well.....keep practicing i suppose
Fantastic. Her chamber music recordings on this same album are stunning. Her breadth of bow is fab, so strong and confident.
A great musical piece and brilliant performances!
It can't get any better than

Deutschlands ganzer Stolz! Brava, Maestra!!!

It is RICOCHET!!!! Learn before assuming you understand more than she does.
Uauh, Wonderful!
Meraviglia!!!!!!!
the sound recorded at the very start is too low, can't hear it ?!
9:55 to 10:03 is the most unbelievable piece if violin repertoire I've ever heard. Not one human alive does it like her. I've rewatched this a thousand times and I've compared with every performance out there. This is God tier talent.
She is also my fathers favourite violinist and he is a very experienced german violinist as well.
Sublime
Fantastici
WOW,maybe this is the best version ! bravo!
This is just the first movement..wish I could see the rest too!
The same recording (full) has been uploaded multiple times on YT now. 7 years ago, of course, it was different.
Mendelssohn was straight up showing off here
Like the way she plays the ad libitum.

I can see why you like Alina Ibragimova's . It's a very classy interpretation - faultless really.
Really wish the camera was faced towards her at 5:32 so we can see the bow work 😢

When I try to listen to the end I get cut off ???
我的音樂女神Anne Sophie Mutter
The vibrato!!! ♥️♥️😭. I’m torn be between hers and Hillary Hahns. Both are masterpieces in their own right
fucking crazy technique @9:40
Too fast.
1:18
cad 9:44
Everything is perfect, except for 9:40
Massive crash on that spiccato
It is NOT spiccato!!!! Itis RICOCHET!!!! Perfectly executed ricochet. What a pity you have no knowledge but enough arrogance to judge this genius.
