Lake Erie Walleye - Shootout 2023

Boat #6 in the 2023 Colchester Shootout, we gave it our best shot! We caught a couple quality Lake Erie Walleye but it wasn't enough to place in the top ten. We finished in the middle of the pack with just over 100" with our top four Walleye. A couple bycatch Smallmouth Bass and Channel Catfish helped keep us entertained. Our best fish were all caught while trolling Bandit crankbaits.

As far as trolling Bandits and worm harnesses, we run 20lb monofilament line. Usually Berkely or Suffix. From there we tie on snap swivels to make lure changes easy. (Compared to retying every time we change something, snap swivels also help reduce the amount of line wasted.) If we intend on trolling in shallow waters over structure such as rocks and boulders, we use steel/ wire leaders as well.
