Short lightsaber duel Two Beat Productions made for the Lightsaber Choreography Competition over at Theforce.net. We finished at third place out of thirteen contenders.
It seems CZcams messed the video up so that the sound is out of synch. I'll upload better version later (I promise) - Krátké a kreslené filmy
I love the feel, even the sound. This is like an old western, only with awesome lightsabers!
Damn, even after 14 long years and this still stands out among some of the best lightsaber duels of all time. Love the Chinese and Japanese influence of the character outfits, the combat styles you used, the music, almost everything is perfect. The combat seems like of mix of Zatoichi and Lone Wolf and Cub elements.
Remember all the lightsaber videos back then?
this is truly one of my favorite fan made duals. love coming back and watching it again.
Still one of my favorites. I love the mixture of universes touch and how the brevity doesn't cut out the intensity.
The thing that makes this one of the best ive seen is the fact that there is a balance between choreography and practical movements, with the proper amount of energy that make's me as a viewer feel like they are actually trying to kill each other and not just dancing around. Great performance!
As many others have pointed out, the brevity and lack of fancy twirling really make this one stand out from MANY other fights I've seen. The moves are fast, and the Sergio Leone/martial arts stylings are just gravy!
Excellent work!
That was one of the best fights I have ever seen, simply because of the ferocity of it. It actually looked like you were fighting, no hint of choreography was evident.
Great Job!
I'm a big fan of star wars, old westerns, and old kung fu movies this is the best blend of things i have ever scene. Genius! This is also my most favorite star wars fan film and I have seen most of them, great job guys.
Some of the best Choreography that I've seen, just as well as Ryan vs. Dorkman! Excellent job, keep it up guys!
Hot damn. This is some of the best choreography and saber clash effects I've seen in any independent lightsaber vid.
ONE OF THE BEST SABER BATTLES I'VE SEEN YET!!! And I've seen alot. Great job guys. (two thumbs up)
Thank you SO much, comments like these makes all the work worthwhile!
Glad to hear that, we wanted to capture the feel of the old Star Wars movies.
man that was sweet. Great production value. I was very entertained.
What makes this so good is that they are actually trying to hit each other. So many times the actors just try to hit their swords.
Appearently it does - that makes me as happy as can be.
Glad you enjoy it!
Woot! It plays again! My fave. Thanks for the good job!
If only this was longer! This is brilliant
Great job, guys. That was actually fun to watch.
best lightsaber duel ive seen on youtube, you guys rock :)
freaking awesome...bravo...needs a sequel
Beautifully done
I really love crackly, gritty sound effects. The fighting style seemed like an homage to 70s kung fu movies. Good stuff.
Thanks a bunch man, comments like that are a really confidence-booster :) We're working on our follow up now (finished choreographing today), and this time we'll have cooler costumes, and work with lighting (duel will be indoor) as well as adding a little story to it.
Thanks again!
Considering Art of the Saber is my favourite fan duel, that makes me very happy to hear :)
I'm glad to hear people like the camera work. We got a lot of negative feedback on that when it was first released. Never really got why though, I like it.
Thank you!
Wow, this was quick. And so are the two fighters.
that was a fast, intense battle. Awesome choreography!
That was awsome!! I loved the whole instant western opening and how the lightsaber duel is created around a western duel typed theme. This really does remind me of the Eastwood flicks with Once Upon A Time In The West. And the fast pace of the duel? Great! Awesome choreography. Loved it from start to finish.
nice, the fight is good and looks like a real one. it's one of the best jedis' video fight i've seen on youtube
Nice job, love the location and large engine in the background
That was awesome bro, no lie.
Cheers,
Joe
loved the choreography, and the lightsaber effects! who cares if the sound was off! the fight was awesome!
I loved how you guys made blood splatter at the end:)
Really well done. I was often frustrated at how showy they made most of the fan movies here. If Lightsabers DID exist, this is how I would imagine a fight with them.
Coolness. The moves were really great and at a good speed.
Very nice! Short but sweet. Love the soundtrack too! As Ryan and Matt showed (twice) you don't need a plot really just good visual/lightsaber effects, sound effects, a secluded location and some practiced choreography. You guys got the formula down pat. Would love to see another one someday. Great stuff!
that had an awesome old school japanese action movie feel to it great job!
Okay, I like it a LOT, short and sweet, unlike the plenty of other 10 minute drown out ridiculous battles. Also, I am reminded of old school Bruce Lee movies and the original trilogy with the somewhat choppy sound effects and with the music. Costumes also were a good choice. Keep it up guys, more for the future hopefully.
the thing that u guys had that is sadly lacking in most other duels, is that u guys make it look like u were actually trying to kill each other. Gr8 choreography
Best fan fight I ever saw :).
Awesome!! very well made. Awesome coreography
Honestly it looked perfect to me, one of the only fan films where the guys actually LOOK like they know what their doing.
awesome i luved the way it finished
I really enjoyed this video, it had great style and flash, and the combat was pretty well choreographed. I especially liked the costumes and the location, the natural wind (I'm assuming it was natural) gave it a nice vibe.
i love this video. good job, boys.
Wow. That was great! If that only won third place, the first and second place vids must have been inserted into the Star Wars movie. Nice work dudes!
Not bad, Not bad at all, I'm very impressed with the choreography. probably the best I've seen thus far.
Man that was really good :D
dude that was totally freaking badass!!!
great choreography, great location
AMAZING!
Good job!!! That was epic!! :D
You know, watching this again, I'd say the off-sync audio could be a blessing in disguise. It give it a very retro, low-budget style kung-fu movie atmosphere without turning the movie into a half-assed cheese fest.
Wow that was great!
That was very nicely done!
I love the finishing move y taking the Sith's saber ha ha
Wow! That's really fucking awesome! So intense and very convincing. The sound quality may not be the best, but wow! Great job!
Thanks a bunch, that's exactly what we were going for :)
Great video.
Some of my friends and I are planning a short youtube video for the summer that will involve LS choreography and this was inspiring to say the least
Glad you liked it.
I'm happy to hear you liked it. Thanks.
great, amazing corefragf
great choreography. great location.
well done. Fast and exciting.
Great duel!
Hm, looks fine at 50 seconds for me. Yeah, the sound's all youtube's doing I'm afraid. Thanks for the comment! And yeah, we just recently finished another lightsaber duel - will be youtubed in a week or so!
I know I'm replying to a comment from 12 years ago, but the sound is finally fixed! I remember watching this many years back and the sound was out of sync, and it's cool to see it for the first time where it's synced properly!
How come this video has got 215 dislikes??? There have been 215 George Lucas that watched this video or martial arts choreographers, thinking they could have done better?! I don't understand!..Amazing job guys, keep it up!
Well, I think it was overshadowed by duels like RVD2 or Ryan V Brandon which had higher production values and all the little Mandos were pissed that they couldn't make peoples lives difficult on Galaxies anymore so they had to go somewhere.... Where do you think Trolls came from? That's RIGHT! They were created by SOE and set loose upon the internet in the Dark Time after Star Wars Galaxies shut down.... and, on the chance you're Mandoa, Nuhoy pirusti, Burc'ya. Haat o'r an nuhune, jor'lekir? Nayc? Bantov... if you were on Starsider... Way'ii ku'ur, chakaaryc!
THIS IS AWESOME!!!!
Makes me very happy to hear, thank you.
The music is by Ennio Morricone, from the movie The Big Gundown.
This was actually pretty good. Exchange that kungfu top & make-up the sound FX & you guys could really nail a good sequence. Keep it up, your cheoreography was really good & you we're actually into what you were doing. It showed in your fight.
That's about as good a review one can get - thanks!
well done, I have to say. Looks pretty good.
HELL YEAH! that was awesome!
awesome lightsaber duel
Glad to hear that!
Wow, great job.
that was friggin' awsome!!!!
Best "Clash" music video I've ever seen! ....wait, it's a Star Wars video? lol
Wow, nice and smooth actions
Thanks!
Yeah, it's an awesome location. We just happened to stumble upon on a few weeks before shooting and just thought "This is the place!" :)
I liked how it started out like an old western draw type of thing, like with the music and everything. Good choreography.
Wow good job guys!
Badass well done the force is clearly strong with you
awesome fight and background
Yeah really nice, fast and clean choreography. Insanely good, surprised it came third with choreography like that, it's the smoothest, fastest I've seen so far. I think you get the picture, I LIKE your choreography lol
Great Video! Very good!
@pj21564 - yes, that finishing move, along with the way he calmly walks away... is awesome.
Glad you liked it :)
Yup, exactly what we were going for actually. Thanks!
That makes me glad to hear!
Yeah the way the sound effects sound also keep with that old style feel. I don't whether it was intentional, or just a lot of compression, but i like it.
Good pace, and a unique "feel" that's different from the others. I like the music and the setting too. 4/5 gj!
nice, i liked the speed on the fight. looked like you guys were really going for each other trying to get the kill, instead of just hitting your lightsaber together over and over again until someone dies like most of this fights. good job.
I have to admit that was pretty good :)
One of the best
great stuff.
Thank you, mr. Jedi Traitor. ;)
intense! good job!
Thank you vey much!
Very nicely done. Music was different but worked. Well done.
One of the best duels I've seen for sure. Music isn't appropriate though. In my humble opinion it takes away the epic feel of the duel, but it doesn't diminish its the quality. Very well choreographed, congratulations.
