  • Burnout by the pandemic. Disillusioned with life. Exhausted to the core. Eleanor went on a spiritual search to reclaim her sense of humanity; to experience life in all its grim and glorious guises.
Accompanied by Lester, her ever trusty travelling teddy bear and faithful friend since birth, this summer she embarked on an ancient pilgrimage starting in the foothills of the Pyrenees to the shrine of St James in Santiago de Compostella in north-west Spain. With her 35-litre backpack, she spent 38 days on the road, covering almost 900km by foot.
Grueling and uplifting, exhausting and empowering, filled with freedom and friendship; wisdom on the road declares that our 'true' Camino begins at the end of our journey to Santiago. Eleanor Duce is a writer and travel enthusiast. Especially dedicated to advocating for girls’ access to quality secondary education, she aspires to inspire others in their pursuit to unlock their potential! With an intellectual curiosity, love for languages and passion for engaging in intercultural dialogue, she believe that-through empathetic discourse, cultural awareness, and local knowledge-we can develop pragmatic solutions to nurture and empower truly compassionate, sustainable, and globally connected communities. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx
