The August 1993 prototype of Sonic Spinball was originally found on a Chinese website.
The game is mostly complete and can be played all the way through, but there are several minor (and not-so-minor) differences here and there and a large amount of bugs, particularly in the latter half of the game and in the bonus stages.

If I had a nickel for every time a Sonic prototype was found on a sketchy Chinese website I’d have two nickels. Which isn’t a lot, but it’s still weird that it happened twice.
I was just thinking about nickels now-
Say nickels one more time...and im gonna bring out the long pennies
@@cookieceoofcook-e if I had a nickel for every each time I could say nickel it would be infinite.
I understood that reference!
Which was the other one?
That boss scream sounds genuinely in pain; bloody hell.
Nah, it's R2D2's scream, but distorted.
5:31 OOPS OOPS OOPS!!!!!!
I love this prototype because half of the sound design is completely different in addition to the audio mixing being totally messed up. It's fascinating how so much of the later development of the game seemingly went specifically into fixing the sound.
I love the anticlimactic BOMPABOMPABOMPA that Tails' plane makes.
The fact that they made new animal friends but didn't use them
We should use them
Prototype Sonic Spinball Theme is used activating a lever. This lacks the falling animation in space as well
dear god how is eggman's screeching even worse in this version
Okey... So the game used to have a tempo thing with the OST? Man i'm glad it was removed.
When I was little I thought this game was a pinball version of the Sonic Saturday morning cartoon
i mean it is
I'm sorry but that Sonic theme with the broken Tesla Coil hurts
Sketchy chinese website be like: "let's preserve sonic history."
i KNEW someone put the rom of the prototype on the net! Awesome piece of history.
Boss scream sounds like a pokemon than the ear piercing EEEEEWWEEEEEEEEEEE
*Oh my god it literally does sound like A Pokemon*
23:27 Huh?! Why isn't he taking damage?
Probably not coded at that time.
The third level soundtrack sounds like a Front 242 song from 1986.
cool
Farting plane be like
Floats on much better than the real cable. Seems flashier with all blinks and junks up too. I love it. We got the worse verzione. :c
...how long ago was this prototype found
It was dumped by PREMIERE sometime in 1993 and distributed over BBS before the game was released, as the ROM contains data for a scene intro by the group. Since its release, the ROM continued to be distributed by the Chinese through ROM sites and bootleg CDs, cartridges, and Super Magic Drive floppies. It was eventually rediscovered and made available by Elliotro on August 1, 2000, allowing it to be properly identified and archived.
Very Cool, Groovie
Ya I played it and I know how to do debug too
You gotta press pause to do debug
Anyone else find the Roboiler creepy AF? It always freaked me out as a kid.
Me! (Aprovando protótipo), Aprovado!
Parabéns! Seu protótipo foi aprovado :D
Sonic Spinball (Release Candidate) (Aug 1993 Prototype).
Is that cyber city???
I think they reused some stuff from cyber city onto spinball
How is this 60fps? the game that came out has big framedrops
I thought the beta had 5 levels?
Reeeeee
I wonder why Sega made this game. It’s so bad.
Expect, it ain't.
Oh it’s because of casino night zone from Sonic 2
Sonic 3 wasn't going to be ready for release by Christmas so they had another development team rush this out to have something on shelves that Christmas.
I need somebody to make a sequel to this masterpiece
Very Cool, Groovie
