Personally I think the fact that they all trained together for 5 years makes a big difference. Some companies switch and swap their trainees every month or two for years until they find a line-up they like, which works out sometimes of course, but if this is what happens when you have the same trainees train together for years, then I want more

yes but swap members is not that usual as we think, what happens the most is that they get like 10 trainees to put in a group and eliminate one every month until get the "perfect" team so in a way every group work together for a long time before debut

That is the big difference because even when kpop groups has been formed they still be competing internally on who gets the most lines and if there’s talks of a new member being added they still battling just to keep their positions.
Harvey said she believes in the bond the members have with each other cuz they all have been in the same place gone through the same experiences for every second, every minute of the day every day for the 5 yrs they’ve spent training. These girls has a different mindset, it’s something that’s natural in their personality and its something that only parents could teach them while they were still really young like being respectful and good mannerisms
XG is the DREAM TEAM. XG’s rap line has versions where there are cc’s which will display the English, Japanese and Korean words. The four will be dressed in street clothes. Maya and COCONA are 17 years old so they are the youngest…I do not know the Japanese proper term for that. There are several recent interviews of them saying who they admired and listen to. I became a fan after I watched their first Dance PERFORMANCE which is labeled MOVE 2#. These girls are ALL ROUNDERS. Thanks for sharing your support and positive comments with your REACTION.
I know they did a lot of training and practice but they just truly born with legit talents and skills and born to perform. I feel like they genuinely live and breath hiphop and rnb its not just a concept or a formula for them, it doesnt feel manufactured at all

It's amazing how obsessed I am with this group, I've never become a fan of a group as quickly as I did with XG. They really are the future, none of them are bad at anything, they really are the dream team.

Samedt. Been obsessed when I discovered them on ads for the left right dance practice performance just last friday..haha
I only discovered them on Monday afternoon when I saw comments on the CZcams shorts arguing about who Harvey looks more like between Becky G, Camila, Cardi B, Sofia Carson, Selena Gomez, Emilia Clark and an actress from Turkey and that she sounds like Becky G when she raps.
Then I went to tiktok to see on the search bar and Harvey's name popped up and the first song I ever heard from them was Shooting Star and then now we are here and I am obsessed.

Yeah, XG is not a kpop group, they're a Global Hip hop and R&B group. Some of them were trained by Avex (in Japan) before the XG project, then Avex created XGALX as a company to manage XG, which was formed by selecting the best girls from a large number of candidates who auditioned to be a part of the project. I don't know if you know Hikaru from Kepler, but she was also a part of this project at some point, but she didn't make it, so she joined GP999.
The group first trained in Japan, then traveled between Japan and korea before moving to korea the last few years before their debut.

Yep. Maya was my fav in the cypher. Her bars and flow was great. But I loved Cocona’s and Jurin’s swag. And Harvey is so versatile.

Ah.. to be able to react to these for the first time again. Enjoying the react. The girls picked their own beats for Tape #2, as far as who wrote the lines I think that's up for debate and hasn't been confirmed in any interviews. I find it hard to believe Cocona dropping a Khaleesi bar (Game of Thrones reference) at 16yo on her own lol but hey maybe she did! To me it's irrelevant as the delivery and attitude is still on point. Have to remember these girls were 16-20 y/o at the time of recording Tape #2. Sky is the limit for XG. Welcome to ALPHAZ!
@SHELE I feel the same that they def took part at some capacity with their lyrics. But I know people that are critical of XG want to question it and dismiss them if they didn't. But to me it's a non issue. They've worked too hard to get to this point to nit pick over trivial things.
What I love the most about XG (besides the excellent music and outrageous talent) is that they genuinely look like they're having fun, from their IG to their stage performances, they just look like they're enjoying finally being in front of audiences and that they actually like one another... and if not, they are some seriously fantastic actresses! lol
Check out some of their live stages too... the stage presence for this rookie group is insane!
Which is doubly impressive when you learn for some of them, xenophobic anti's scooped up the majority of the tickets so they could either not show up or go and not cheer. 😤 The girls seriously do such a good job in the face of this and truly seem like they have a mindset that they're just gonna kill them with kindness and turn them into fans.

XG’s producer simonjakobs he explained carefully XG main direction in what about the development of their music but he wrote it in korean but basically their main is R&B hiphop despite their music is free to adopt many styles like jpop kpop XG music is not attaching to a certain specific music. It is free open music 🎉

SIMON (known as JAKOPS) is the executive producer of XG. He is a former member of DALMATIAN (then became DMTN few years after their debut), a KPOP boygroup that debuted in 2010. Simon was actually only added in the group later when one member left. You can check out the group’s music because they’re also good. One of the most underrated KPOP groups, imho. One of my favorite songs from them is ‘Real Eyes’, even up to this day, still one of my faves that I listen to quite often.. the vocals are just… so good!

All of the raps are rehearsed, even if Jurin says 'It's a freestyle' since these are all filmed performances in set locations. Like all music videos, the actual vocal tracks are recorded in studio with the music. Then the performances are filmed while they sing along to the recorded track (ear monitors) to get an authentic looking vocal performance. There are no microphones on set since all of the vocals and back tracks have been pre-recorded. Hence all of the camera angles and cuts. Although, Kill Bill looks like a one shot with the girls moving up a staircase in dim lighting, camera operator filming while moving up the stairs, backwards. This was rehearsed multiple times, to ensure no mistakes but the XG girls are so well trained I can't see them needing that many takes to get the direction and performances right. But even if it is rehearsed, the fact that they can perform the rap with distinctive flow, authentic flow, each with identifiable voices, not typical KPOP voices and flow, shows just how good these girls are. Cocona just turned 17, yet in comparison to most KPOP Idols her age, she has a maturity and swagger of someone far older and experienced who personifies hip hop. Maya's 'Hey' at the end! Harvey's Betty Boop 'Ooh!' Jurin's flow is crazy good. Umami (the fifth taste, along with sweet, sour salty, bitter, meaning savory, meaty) pack a punch on a rap goddess!

You'll have to check out their 'Move' dance clips next. They also just appeared on It's Live Band concert channel performing Shooting Star.
The raps are not freestyle. They are given the lines and they practice them to make them their own (and they do a brilliant job of that). You’d have to be fluent in English to be able to write those lines and they are trilinguals but not fluent enough in English to do that. Either way we all have to agree the execution is great.
from Wikipedia (Japanese): 'In the XGALX project, out of about 13,000 applicants who participated in the audition, after going through various processes, a total of 15 people, including 7 members of XG and Hikaru Ezaki of Kep1er, were selected as the final trainees of XGALX . From there, they were trained together for five years until XG's debut in 2022 as a seven-member group.' So filtered 13,000 to around several hundreds to 15 to 7. The is a rumor saying Hikaru will join XG after Kep1er disbands.... FYI =)

Yeah they went through training just like in kpop but from what I understood their label wanted the group to go further than just the kpop industry so they call them a global group. I think Jurin and Chisa were models, Hinata was a trainee in Korea and Juria had been on a jpop kid's group before they all started training under XGALX. People thought they were under YG but I think there was only a slight connection between the 2 labels

You need to watch their interviews. In the last one I watched Maya said that she loves to speed rap. Her and Cocona grew up as friends, joined some dance group? Cocona stated she started rapping in 3rd grade.

Yes, this girls are from Japan that are trained in Korea to be marketed globally. Their training is hard and long by 2nd generation kpop idol (this is rumored though). Most of the members are trained as Japan idol before, models and even athletes. They are under Japanese company Avex entertainment, they really pick the best girls!!

afaik, there's actually 2 types of freestyle raps. The most common and probably what most people know is the one where you rap off the top of your head. The 2nd one is the old school freestyle where the rap doesn't really have a subject/theme or the lyrics don't really relate to each other and the lyrics are all over the place. In Jurin's case, it might be the 2nd one.
You need to know the starting part of their content. They begin their start without even revealing their face before their debut. Then their names are revealed, along with their dance styles, which are all different from one another. The #TAPE1 you see here is what you get. Shortly after that, #VOX1 will open. We knew we could RAP in #TAPE1 but we were worried about the vocals. But #VOX1 will surprise you.

so when this 7 young girls was already training in Avex Artist Academy for few years Avex desided to do XgalX project and had some applicant from several country. and they were auditioning but then COVID hits so they sticked to japanese only. so when this 7 girls was confirm they trained another 5 years. with Kpop style.
so in total they probably have like 7 to 8 years of training. thats why there so good.

but let's assume they wrote those themselves.
as for how those groups are formed. young girls audition to those talent companies and then train in their dungeons for several years.
at some point the company picks some of their best trainees and creates a new group out of them.
when they're done building a group structure and developing a concept, they're going to release them to the public.
some girls never get picked for a debut and will drop out of the agency at some point or they will stay as backup dancers or guide vocalists or assistants of some kind.
I'm pretty sure this isn't a freestyle but I wouldn't doubt if they could because these girls have been training since 2017. They really really talented. I saw a video where one of the girls said they listened to TLC,Lauryn Hill, Kehlani a lot, very much R&B influenced.
