I’ve tracked ever bowl I’ve put through my country gentleman since 2018. Last night was bowl 436. I have a forever stem on it and I mortared the bottom around bowl 100. These are great pipes that last indefinitely if you take care of them.
What do you do when the pipe gets a funky taste you can't clean out? After a few months even if I clean it tar gets built up around the wood shank and I have to pour some alcohol and let it sit in the bowl. Doesn't have any effect on smoking but does darken the outside of the cob. I don't like doing this but it works and better than tossing the cob! Just curious
My favorite model from mm. My very first pipe actually. I’ve smoked thousands of bowls from it. Tip: sometimes the mm co. Has grab bags of less than perfect pipes for 7 pipes I think I paid 30. I got a couple country gents that way. All mine get a forever stem. The other cobs do not. Come to think if it I’m gonna go on and see if they have the grab bags available now. (Like I need more pipes🤣) cheers
If i have to have a plastic bit i prefer the danish amber MM bits. But i put a vulcanite stem in ny country gentleman. Smokes great! My naked missouri pride smokes even better. I have a Savinelli 616KS and Danish produced Stanwell 13 that i like but my cobs smoke better than those. Cooler and more dry smoke with better flavor. Really hard to beat cobs. I would like to try a meerschaum to compare.
Hi. New pipe smoker who just ordered this pipe. Could you explain what you did with the whiskey to alleviate the varnish taste in the bowl? Did you pour some whiskey in the bowl then light it and burn off the bad taste? Thanks
