Different class gentlemen,
Another excellent video guys! This series is really enjoyable.
Absolutely a pleasure to watch true professionals at work showing real pride in what they do. I hope the customer appreciates the value they are getting, whatever the cost.
Thanks G L, we all take great care and pride in every detail of our jobs, and hopefully that shows.
Thanks for watching.
All the best, John 👷🏼♂️
love your channel. really useful and well paced: quality!
Nice to see the progress going well guys 🙌🏼🙌🏼
Awesome job guys loving the videos 🏴
Pure class. Fridays wouldn't be the same without another one of your quality videos
I’m glad the footage turned out well for you lads it was a quality delivery if I don’t say so myself 👍
I remember the building inspector asking for 1m3 hole to be dug out and filled with water for a percolation test....he could clearly see the ground was solid clay makeup yet still asked for it.
Thanks for the video. The silt trap did u buy it ready-made?
New subscriber. NReally enjoyed watching you develop this project Nice job
Looking good fellas.🤩 The brickie's will soon have those walls up once the floor is down.👊
Cheers mate. It didn't take long to get the shell up after this 😁
All the best, John 👷🏼♂️
Oh wow you guys even fill the holes up for the brickies ! We hate that job especially when the brick have 10 holes 🕳 takes forever 😩 . Really looking good now chaps 👌🏼🧱👍🏼
It's all about making the job easier for the next trade 😁
Take care guys.
All the best, John 👷🏼♂️
@@BuildWithAE That John is brilliant. 👌🏼
Poles apart from site work where nobody gives a second thought to any other trade , very sad 🧱👍🏽
This is true. Hopefully one day sites could change from a numbers game, to a lower volume, higher quality situation. If trades had more time to do their jobs, then I'm sure that wouldn't be the case 👷🏼♂️
@@BuildWithAE Amen to that . Me and Al were too fussy which meant too slow so we were pushed aside for the slashers who’s work is awful 😞 🧱👍🏽
That pea gravel looked like gold nuggets
It'd be nice if they were! I certainly wouldn't of been burying them though 😁
All the best, John 👷🏼♂️
Another great video. I'm finding they don't last long enough and I'm gutted they're ending. Also, I just realised Joe looks like a British Post Malone! 😄
@@BuildWithAE excellent! I’ve learned so much from you guys and your book recommendations (you probably won’t remember that, but I asked for them on one of your early vids) and glad to have been here since the beginning 😁
@@MarcusT86 The main construction writer that Tony tends to recommend people is George Ellis, who wrote Modern Practical Joinery. Tony said this was an essential book when he was overseeing his apprenticeships. Have an awesome weekend Marcus - next video will be dropping today. Take care 👍
@@BuildWithAE I already had some great recommendations back in the day, but thanks for another one.
And I just saw the video pop up, so I’m going to get that one on the big screen and get comfy! 😆
Nice video lads. I thought you had a fox on beam cam, turns out with my glasses on it was a cat.
Great work chaps. Loved how clean and organised the site was.
Does the customer not fancy changing that lead incomer whilst this is all going on?
Great video, loving the series!
How come you have installed lintels in the sub structure, what are they for?
Hi Mike,
The lintels are to carry the brickwork up to damp. There will then be a large bi-fold door above that.
Hope this helps.
All the best, John 👷🏼♂️
Not enough cups of tea lads.
Is filling the holes just to increase strength for the block and beam to sit on?
Nice job, one question though. Why filling the bottom layer of the brick? This isn't adding to its strength, while reducing insulation quite a bit.
Hi Paul,
Filling the perforated engineers ensures they are solid. These bricks are the base for the block and beam floor, so insulation properties at that level are irrelevant, as they are not part of the insulated envelope.
Hope this helps.
All the best, John 👷🏼♂️
Random question: All these great videos you put out have you seen a big increase in enquiries due to the content? Cheers M
Hi Matthew, yes! We've seen our enquiries go up much more than usual. Funnily enough though we didn't start CZcams to seek more work. We've always been in good stead in that area, we just wanted to share how we go about our work. Glad you're enjoying the videos buddy, have an awesome week! 👍
Can Someone Help, Why Is The Pipes That Colour? Surely Makes It Harder To See When Digging Over Them, I'm New To Building
@@goodcat1982 thank you mate, most property renovations i see with them pipes are around clay like city homes so I've always wondered why that colour, I'm from the valleys in Wales so the ground is a lot different but nobody does videos from up here lol
I think it was to mimic the old unglazed terracotta clay pipes which were the same colour.
How come you didn’t just lay 4” blocks flat instead of filling the perforated bricks?
Why not use a 7n block instead of the perf engineers ?
It's all about getting our levels right for each stage of the build. Using the engineers gave us a bit more breathing room for finished floor levels. It's better to put in a bit more screed, than having to put less in 👷🏼♂️
Hope this helps.
All the best, John 😊
A block flat is 100mm and an engineer is 65mm, which gives us an extra 35mm of clearance when calculating the finished levels.
Hope this helps.
All the best, John
More rain more moving dirt
You should just start making pots with all that clay. 🪴🏺⚱️
John - could you explain more on why using solid engineering bricks is less cost effective that using perf's then having to go over them again with cement fill? It seems counter-intuitive to me.
Hi Matt,
The perfs were available at a much better price than solids, and after factoring in two men for half an hour and one mix, it was a more cost effective option.
Hope this helps.
All the best, John
@@BuildWithAE Gotcha - thanks for taking the time to explain. Appreciated.
Use a shovel not your trowel
Instead of solid engineering why not us solid concrete bricketts? Saves the filling
Hi Mike,
That's a good shout, these engineers where a quicker option at the time though, as we would of had to order them in.
Definitely worth a go in the future though.
All the best, John 👷🏼♂️
This is great series of vids.... but why does everyone feel the need to put bloody music on everything !
@@BuildWithAE No, don't think so. People would not complain about lack of music. Only music they find irritating. Really professional build , from an ex builder.
Complete amateurs
Frost cover?
everyone of these lads could be a tv presenter.they are professional in the job and presenting.brilliant.
Thank you Mark, glad you're enjoying the channel.
