I'm getting extremely frustrated with my painting. My last resort is to try different canvases. I currently use the cheapest ones I can find at Hobby Lobby or Michael's and I paint 1 coat of gesso on it. What kind of canvases do you use?
I use basically the same for my CZcams channel. Michael’s, Amazon, Jerry’s Artarama, ect… I apply 2 coats of gesso with a cheap foam brush with the blue handles at Michael’s. Can I ask what’s frustrating you?
Highlights are the toughest, pine trees for me to this day are still the worst. If you can hang in there and figure it out, then you’re golden. I’ll try to be more detailed, hopefully that will help a bit.
@@PaintingwithMike your the best. I love your channel. I try to put in the dark near the bottom for the foreground and it mixes with the liquid white and gets lighter so I add more dark then by the time I start adding the highlights it's a sloppy mess and I get so angry!!! Ugh

Understand you completely, what helped me was black gesso and Bob Ross clear medium.
