Moab is the town right outside of Arches National Park and Canyonlands National Park. It's an incredibly beautiful setting and also an area that offers a lot of adventure. From hiking, jeep tours, ATVs, New Zealand Style Speedboats, river tours, you name it, Moab has it.

Have only stayed at a motel when we rafted the Colorado. But we want to go back and really explore!

I appreciate a camp pad and saddle blanket next to my motorcycle; I can sleep virtually anywhere. The Milky Way overhead is the best roof of all.
We've been to Moab twice, both times during the pandemic. The first time was in mid-October of 2020 and the second was the last week of April in 2021. The first time we stayed at The Red Cliffs Lodge (in a River King) for 3 nights and it was totally worth the price (300+ a night). The restaurant is outstanding and ranks up there with any place on Restaurant Row in NYC. It gets very dark and they use minimal lighting for safety. Also, There were no clouds the entire trip so the sky really lit up at night. The second trip we stayed at the Best Western Canyonlands (Presidential Suite - because I stumbled on a ridiculously inexpensive price). It's in the middle of the strip, more or less and walking distance to the Food Truck Park and many other places.
Both places were nice. The drive out to Red Cliffs (and Sorrel River Ranch which a bit further on) is long but scenic and if you'd never been there before (which we hadn't), visually breathtaking. At 14 (+/-) miles, I can see it getting old pretty quick at today's fuel prices, though. The reason we didn't stay there the 2nd visit was that there wasn't a river front room like we had the first time available. All that said, Moab in general is just expensive. It's a tourist town. Shop around and book early is all I can recommend.
Glamping in/near Moab: Not our thing, especially at what they charge for a tent with an ensuite at Under Canvas Moab.
Stargazing: An absolute must do! There are some really good places away from town to get a really dark sky. On Hwy 128 out past Sorrel River Ranch, when you're well out of the valley is a good area. Just be sure to scout it out in the day time and find a safe place to pull off first. Both Canyonlands and Arches are good places, though the light dome from Moab is clearly visible from Delicate Arch and many places a long the trail. Hwy 313 near Dead Horse Point is another good area, too. It's up on the butte and there are off-highway parking areas.
The whole Grand Staircase-Escalante/Four Corners region is so different from where we live that it was like visiting another planet. Planning on going back for a third time in April '23.

I've come to Moab twice with a group of 10 guys on a Christian spiritual retreat and I'm currently planning a third trip for April 2024. We stay in a beautiful VRBO in the Spanish Valley. We make all of our own meals and save tons of money and time doing so. I order a whole week's worth of groceries from the City Market and pick them up on the way to the VRBO rom the airport.

I was in Moab in 2021. I found many of the Hotels to be very expensive in Moab. I did however find one in town, But off the Beaten path and it was Charming and Affordable. It was the Apache Hotel. It was built in 1954 for Hollywood stars that were filming Western movies in the area. I stayed in the John Wayne sweet. I believe it is the biggest room they have, And yes, It has a Bed that John Wayne actually slept in!! He stayed there many times. I highly recommend it if you are on a budget.

Oh man, thank for sharing. We were at page, AZ for horseshoe bend, but didn't go up north to moab. That was one one of option for us, but instead went to grand canyon north rim
Utah parks are pretty awesome, but the Grand Canyon never disappoints! We haven't made it to Horseshoe Bend yet, but its definitely on the list!!
Heading out after I get off work on Sunday and heading from Nevada to Moab on our motorcycles. I can't wait to ride through the parks and rent ATVs

We stayed at campgrounds in Moab they were very friendly and nice .My wife and I and our friends used to spend a lot of time down there .We loved it.

Thanks for the advice guys. Sine I am going in early August when it will be like 115 like Adam said, and I have kids, I decided to say at a hotel. I got a great deal on the Hyatt Place Moab. I will let everyone know how it is after my trip!

We stayed in Monticello, UT at the Rodeway INN. For budget minded folks it works just fine. Yes, it's an hour south of Moab. BUT, we don't mind the drive. S/T
Steve and Tracy, that's a great tip! When we visited Bryce Canyon we stayed about 30 minutes away in Panguitch, Utah, and it probably saved us $150 dollars! Not to mention the drive was beautiful anyway!
Hi guys my name is Bridger and I love Moab so very much we go there every year and it is my favorite place in The Whole world me and my whole entire family stay in a condo and it is very nice and it even has a community pool so we go swimming there everyday when we are in Moab this year we are going in June and I can’t wait to go to my favorite place in the whole world

Great question, depends on the time of year and how active you are…it’s insanely hot in the summer, which limits hiking to an extent. If you were simply going to drive through you could see both national parks in a day, but if you want to hike around, then you’d definitely want a full day dedicated to Arches. Canyonlands there are some hikes but definitely more of a look and see park. There’s also some other great state parks and things to do in the area and Moab is a fun town. It’s definitely more than a day trip. Hope that helps!

@@morni1999Definitely add a stop to Dead Horse Point state park on your way to Canyonlands. We have been here in Moab many times I would do 4 days
WE will be there from May 11-13. Right now we have reservations at Slickrock Rv park but I just got an email that there was going to be a lot of construction before and entering their campground and also in the campground. they said there was a sister campground nearby to use the pool. I emailed them back to see if there was a spot in that campground. If not we will survive.

Nice again! We are booked at the Moab Rustic Inn for 4 nights in June... What are the water park resort pool places? If they have a separate room for the kids, we might change it up, lol.
The Fairfield Inn and Springhill Suites share the resort style pool area pictured in this video. The Hoodoo is higher end and has a nice pool, and the Hyatt Place looks like it has a nice pool area as well.
Going in July and staying at the Holiday Inn Express.

For me, a hotel is a huge waste of money because I am out on the trail at first light and not back to town until dinner time. So I always stay at Up the Creek Campground, which is a tent only campground in town one block off the main drag. It has nice showers and is within easy walking distance of many restaurants. I set up a large tent with a cot and am quite comfortable. Of course I avoid the summer heat by only going to Moab in the spring and fall.
That sounds like great advice bartonre! We’d like to go back in the spring or fall as well…
Acadia and Zion are just a couple of the national parks that are now requiring a "day" pass just to get in. I think I will wait until next year before visiting the national parks. At Yosemite, they closed half of the camping sites due to COVID. They also closed all the showers at Yosemite for 2021. This is not a good year for the national parks.
Brian, we understand where you are coming from. With international travel pretty much non-existent (or very difficult to say the least) a lot of Americans will be looking to visit National Parks this summer. If you plan right, a day pass could work to your advantage as it might limit crowds. As a pivot, consider looking at some of the lesser visited National Parks, National Forests, or State Parks if you want to get outside. We have seen some crazy hotel prices for this summer in the small towns outside national parks!
Where's the most economical place to stay with clean rooms. Will visit arches that are closest to parking spots only.

Go to TripAdvisor, type in your dates, and sort by price lowest to highest. Prices change all the time so we can’t answer that question
how far away Is the airport from the hotel that you stayed at, my wife and I are considering going in august of this year
Trevor the Canyonlands airport is north of Moab by about 20 minutes. We stayed on the south side of Moab. From the north side of Moab to the south side of town I think it would take about 10 minutes to drive through. Hotels on the north side of town would give you slightly quicker access to the parks/airport. Hope that helps!
going for the first time next week, never been as far west as OKC so everything beyond that will be a new experience, would you suggest making reservations for hotels in April ? I assumed I shouldn't have a problem since it's not the main time for tourist yet.
So there are a couple reasons why you should book early. 1. If the specific place/or places you want to stay you think could potentially have no reservations left. 2. If you think the price of hotels is only going to increase before you get there. One thing you could do is look at a booking website that would allow you to cancel your reservation as long as you cancel by a certain date. That’s a good way to hold your spot but it doesn’t cost you anything as long as you follow the rules! Have a great trip!
@@AdamandMadalyn Ended up taking the camper, it had been in the shop from being in a tornado and got it in time to take it. Was blown away by the beauty of Moab, the photos I had seen and the ones I took myself doesn't do that place any justice. God willing I'll be visiting that place again.

I started going to Moab in the early 90’s last time I was there was in 2019 . The changes , a much different place. Can’t afford Moab , the parks are full , long live BLM CAMPING !!!!!

@@AdamandMadalyn I can add that you can book horse back riding trips in the canyons, there is a westen movie museum and a vinery on the premises and a nice pool. And if you book a king cabin you will be staying less than 50 feet from the Colorado River.

Stayed at Hyatt Place. The worst overpriced experience ever. Stay away. They can’t even cook a burger - all food is frozen and precooked 🤮🤮🤮 The service is the worst I’ve seen.
