I feel like everyone needs one of these. Awesome, in depth review 👌🏻
Thanks so much. Glad you like my in-depth review
All of the technical tests that I would have never thought to do is one of the reasons I love your review/tests more than other channels who do the same type of content. Keep up the great work man!
Thank you so much!
I've actually been looking for one of these. This thing is damn impressive! You're always so thorough with these vids, and I really appreciate that! Keep up the great work, man!
Thank you! Appreciate your kind words.
You always do such extensive testing and really push a product to max stress levels! That's amazing! If everyone could do this there would be a lot of detailed product reviews out there that were actually accurate and relevant
Thanks, that's exactly the point of my tests. Glad you noticed it and I'll keep on pushing devices to their max stress level in my future videos as well.
This seems super useful for me. Especially since I have a kid that uses so many battery powered toys. Good stuff!
Hey thanks my friend, really appreciated and the VC8 is indeed very useful.
Wow this charger is amazing man, impressive and extensive testing by you as always which makes the product that much better since you don’t BEEP around!
Thank you for the awesome comment and I'm glad you enjoyed it.
8 slot charger never knew it existed, that's pretty neat
Glad this battery charger exists. Thanks for watching :)
OMG I need this. I have four kids and we've got batteries everywhere. A single 4-lot AA charger doesn't do us any good most of the time. I'll check this out for sure.
Yeah the XTAR charger has enough slots and supports most battery types. It's pretty good forr the price.
Nice Joe!! I actually need this Right Now! My batteries on my calculator running low, and just took a break to watch this one haha!
Thanks man!
Nice in depth testing/review I can decide which ones best for my controller batteries now😂
Glad you enjoyed this one, more in-depth testing-review videos are on the way.
Good edits in this one. Really like the fact that it independently charging each slot. Also, I think that is the first time I seen an Ikea battery. Lol.
Thank you. Glad you noticed that awesome feature. I think IKEA stores have been selling their branded batteries since the late 2000s.
Hard question: When you place a battery into the VC8, Lithium ion or
NiMH appears, right? What does it mean if the battery type is flashing
during charge? The manual doesn't mention that.
What's the charging current reading while the battery type flashes? Note that battery type reading always flashes when you insert a cell into slot. If it doesn't stop flashing after a while, it means the battery was not recognized or is not compatible with the VC8. I mentioned on my video all types of cells this charger supports.
Wwwwwhhhhaaaattt?!!! You can charge any kind of common battery?! Amazing!! Bro your mad science is super epic! Love that you break all these down like this, it's absolutely fascinating man!! Strong work!👏👏🙌🤘😁
oh yeah, I love it so much. Thank you, pleasure to have your visit.
really great job mate, it looks like from your test theres no benefit to using a usb pd (9v-3a) input over the usb 3.0 (9v-2a) that was included with yours.
Do you agree? or do you recomend i buy more powerful adapters?
i need to order adapters for the VC8's ive just purchased. Again this was the best review on youtube. and ive watched them all.
There is no benefit by using a PD powerful adapter for the XTAR VC8 since it supports QC3.0 and it's max input is 9V 2A. Thank you for your kindly feedback!
@@JoGeoTechlab and thankyou for the quick response to my question. i look forward to more videos
Dang, that is a sweet piece of kit!
Hopefully XTAR will bring out a flat battery version (you know, like you get in some DSLR cameras like the NIkon D3300) and I would definitely consider buying one. Don't get me wrong, to watch a flicking light is fine but to actually have that information in front of you, sweet as my man
Thanks for letting me know about XTAR's flat battery charger new release. Would be great!
Just ordered one of these, it will go nicely with my Hohm Base four slot. The storage charge option is something my Hohm base doesn't have, so I should save a few pennies on needless battery purchases. Liked and subbed, useful and clear video mate!
Good choice! Thank you and hope you enjoy my other content as well.
Excellent!!! Very helpfull.I`m now one step closer to tame this great charger device. 🙂👌 If you keep pushing the buttons longer more data appear on the
screen.Do you have any idea what they are about? Do you have any video about those abilities of the charger ? 🙂
Alright, just bought him at local webstore.. everything loox ok but when i connected my usb multimeter i saw a very strange current behaviour, the same as my other charger yonii-d2 (thought it was defective, that was why i went after vc8). The current fluctuates (i have 6 AA ni-mh in) with voltage at 9.06V when charged with 500mA about 0.29A to 0.62A.. it changes rapidly.. is this normal behaviour?? I thought that ni-mh is charged CC-CV (constant current constant voltage)
@Pavel Jelínek Yes it is normal, the VC8 auto selects voltage-current for protecting your batteries. But keep in mind that this behaviour also depends on your USB charger and type-C cable you plugged to VC8. I'm using the BlitzWolf charger and cable of the video description links so that everything works smoothly.
However there are five current values to manually select. May you have a happy new year!
@@JoGeoTechlab thanx for responding, just checked that charge current with my multimeter, current is 100% the same as says the vc8 display.. (so is the voltage) btw i was told about 5min ago by relative electroengineer that that fluctuations have something to do with the charger as it has many capacitors and electric 'smoothers' because that charging current has to be as smooth as possible to help prolong the battery life and the charge and discharge state of that capacitors is never the same so the charger never draws the same amount of current so that is why.. I got pretty exhausting explanation ;)
Can it charge 21700 batteries?
Good job thumbs up loaders are the perfect and affordable
I need a 8 bay SMART charger that can charge 21700s without ripping your battery wraps, This is it right?
@Andre Payne it supports 21700 type batteries. It's a smart charger which means it can recognize and auto select the proper current for your batteries. You can also select the charging current manually. Thanks for stopping by.
Very informative vedio
I appreciate your comment.
Hi JoGeo, does it warm or hot when charging 8 slots?
No, it doesnt get hot. Works flawlessly even when 8 slots are used simultaneously
@@JoGeoTechlab Thanks! I would like to buy a 8 slots charger , Xtar VC8, Miboxer C8 and Nitecore i8. Do you know which one is better?
@d re it depends on your needs. For instance, the XTAR VC8 has USB type-C input (QC3.0 fast charging), LCD display and two extra modes (grading, storing) that the other 8-slot chargers don't have. So I'd personally choose VC8 for these features.
@@JoGeoTechlab Thanks!
Hi how long is take to charge 8 AA ?
@Monika Khan charging time for 8 x AA depends on the capacity of each battery and also on the current you select when using the XTAR VC8 charger.
@@JoGeoTechlab thank you for replay . For example 2300 mah and the highest current.
@Monika Khan the maximum current (for each slot) when all 8 slots are used simultaneously is 500mA. So if your AA cell's capacity is 2300 mAh it will take 4 and a half hours for a full charge.
I need this, its effectively a long term investment as you'll more than likely save more money overall
Thanks! XTAR VC8 is indeed a good investment if you are using rechargeable batteries. I've stopped using primary (non rechargeable) batteries two years ago
Χαθήκαμε, thanks για το come back!! :)
what sells me on it you can charge various sizes
Great video. Thank you for making this video. According to your video, I think this charger is slow at charging batteries when all 8 slots are in use at the same time, charging is at 0.25A, this is too slow for my liking.
If you watch carefully the video at 11:24 you will notice that it charges each cell at 0.5A (max) when all 8 slots are used at same time. It supports QC3.0 at 9V charging so you have to use a USB charger with 9V output if you want to fast charge 8 cells simultaneously. When a 5V charger output is used, VC8 charges the cells with 0.25A. Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment.
The range of batteries you can charge is amazing but with it charging that fast I worry about long term battery health
@Wheelchair Anywhere The VC8 has function if you want to manually set the charging current (0.25A / 0.5A / 1A / 2A / 3A) so that the battery's life wont be reduced. Furthermore the device auto identifies each cell's type and resistance, and auto selects the most suitable charging method for it. Thank you for stopping by and taking the time to leave a comment. :)
Hej, you better have to explain what you´re doing and tryin
You probably posted your thought and didn't watch a minute of my video. There is (hard subtitle) commentary on screen explaining every test and review ;)
Good review, but much better if you talked in my opinion.
I appreciate your honest comment. Thank you!
Great review! I thumbs up'ed the review. Though i dislike this charger, i bought 6 for bulk charging. 4:33 This device does NOT support QC3.0 charging protocol. it supports QC2.0. QC3.0 is 36watts at 12v 3Amp. This device states on back 9v 2amp (18watts) 4:42 which is QC2.0. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quick_Charge
Furthermore, it is under powered from the input. This unit is way under powered for 8 batteries.
@o8k o8k Thank you for stopping by and taking the time to leave this comment. You are right about the readings of my USB tester and all QC2.0, QC3.0 info. But please note that the 18650, 21700 batteries I used to test the QC protocol probably would be damaged if a higher current is used so the VC8 charger auto selected the best and fastest protocol for an optimal battery charging. Xtar VC8 works great and so far, I'm satisfied by it's perfomance.
@@JoGeoTechlab it only tests 4 at a time too. that was disappointing. Good point about auto select, it would be nice to test all 8 batteries at a time and charge all 8 slots at 1amp. Make sure you buy a really good usb power adapter! I have a set of QC4.0 on the way to replace the 2 of 6 QC3.0 adapters that broke trying to charge 8 batteries at 500ma ea.
and yes the usb power adapters said QC3.0 but were really QC2.0, thats how i found out about that little detail (the hard way) =D
Music made it unwatchable.
@Nicholas Austin feel free to *mute* music :P
But it can't charge alkaline batteries. TRASH.
But alkaline cells are not rechargeable!
@@JoGeoTechlab not with that attitude they ain't.
@Joseph Kepner if you mean RAM batteries by saying alkaline, these cell types are used by very few people. RAM's charge cycle is only 50 while NiMH have 500. So that's why most battery chargers don't support alkalines. And the XTAR VC8 is definitely NOT a trash charger!!
@@JoGeoTechlab dude too far. It was a joke the entire time.
@Joseph Kepner I'm def sure that you made a joke about charging alkaline cells and you didn't know RAM rechargeable alkaline cells existed :D
Thanks for the joke though, it turned to be a helpful info for a minority of people who might be interested to use those cells.
