It doesn't matter who's better. The Yankees have had Judge for years. Now they have Judge AND Soto and that's a combo that puts the Yankees in another league. They need both. Period.
Absolutely right!! They’d be about 5 or 6 games back of Baltimore without Soto! Maybe even more than that!
Orioles fan here. Yankees rotation has been a little lucky, with the advanced metrics showing this to be the case. Advanced metrics aren't the end all be all, but it is something. Also, Judge had a historic May/June, with an OPS over 1.500 I believe. That just isn't sustainable. And with all this, the yankees were only 2.5 games better than the Orioles since May 1st. Also, the Orioles have a better farm system, and are better equipped to have a big trade deadline. The Yankees have virtually nobody on the bench that can provide your starters off days, with Stanton only able to play DH. Meaning these guys are going to be fatigued and/or injured late in the season. I am extremely confident the Orioles win the division. But I will say this, the Yankees are right there with about 5 teams that I can see winning the World Series, along with the Orioles.

Soto, only 25 years old will eventually win more rings while Judge is already 32 and won't be playing with Soto for a long time.

I made the NBA reference to highlight how silly you are.. Bro A-Rod was the best player in baseball when he came over. And the Yanks won 1 title with him and Jeter. If Jeter had the magic touch in terms of being so clutch why didn't he won 4 or 5 rings with A-Rod? Why didn't that combo work? Could it be he needed the likes of O'Neil, Mo, Andy, Jorge, Bernie etc to win those rings? Jeter was clutch in the sense that he was a singles hitter. He never was the guy doing damage in the middle of the lineup. He never had that pressure on him like Judge does or even Soto does.. He had other players that got that done. You seem to oversimplify how hard it is win rings and how great the team has to be to get it done. Yankees were far more talented in 2004 than they were in 2000..

A Juan Soto on this team in 2022 does NOT get swept by Houston in the ALCS as good as Houston was.

Aaron judge reminds me of a peyton manning... Probably the best regular season player the leagues had since he came into it, just power numbers. And he's so great. The team leans on him throughout the regular season, But then come the postseason, the pressures on him. And that's too much for any one person to bear. I don't believe that if judge was injured and soto was playing that this team would do as well in the regular season. I do believe judge gives you more wins by virtue of his big bat and he's a better defender. The yankees really need to consider replacing rizzo and torres by deadline. Love rizz but hes slowing down. Its time to get younger.
