    I love the solid level rubber gasket around the mounting screws for inverting the sub 👍. I hate when companies get fancy with chiseled out designs that hinder a tight seal when you invert it

    I have a tropo 18” and they are a nice value. Good venting on the basket nice chrome vented motor and underrated. The 18 will take 800-1000 rms all day long on music. Another value sub is the NEP. I run the select 12 currently on 800 rms while its only rated at 500. And takes it like a champ. Unfortunately those are discontinued but the Tropo series is still available and a good budget sub imo also. I think they have a ttropo XL out now also that is beefed up a little more. Great review!

    I just bought Three of these and Wired to the 1.333ohm load on a Skar 2k Amp.. Coming from Three JL W3 12" 4.ohm Subs, that just Absolutely Knocked in the Full Size Sealed Old Skol Power Wedge Box. I hooked up these, three Tropo's in the Sealed boxes, and they didn't perform at all 😱 Do you think this is because they're really meant for Ported Boxes or Flat out need More Power? I also tried to Hook just one up at the 1 ohm Load and it didn't perform on the 2k amp Either like WTH! So I'm leaning on the Full Size Sealed Box isn't the way to go, Would that be safe to say?

DD Audio (noted more for quality than price) now offers a "Made in America" subwoofer $300-$350. It's also an increase of about 25% active surface area while eliminating destructive interference that occurs when two different point sources generate the same wave.
      Think of it as dropping two 10 lb rocks in a pond and observing the waves versus dropping a single 20 lb Rock. Exactly the same energy input but very different wave patterns. The wave coming from that single 20 lb Rock will be much higher and disperse evenly sound behaves the same

      Most of them have variations that can make all the difference in performance. A stiffer suspension might look exactly the same as a a looser suspension, but offer more ability to handle abuse while also making it less responsive. All that to say that sometimes things looking similar doesn’t always mean they’re exactly the same.

      This is why I use custom subwoofer builders and soon will be building my own. When JL charges 1100+ for there W7’s that are maybe 200-300$ in parts and let’s face it you can get WAY better subs like a pair for 1100. High output alternator and batteries FIRST KIDS 🌝. Then get some equipment. The last comment isn’t for you James it’s for everyone else that just talks about there subs and amps and think that’s all they need.

    A AM1 would be such a cool tool to own the only caveat is it may wanna be called the heart breaker... When you have an actual 5k and you clamp it and you probably see 2 to 3k max watts 95% of the time It puts everything into reality that the sub/s are not seeing no where near that 5k rating ( that's when the smart amps shine), so may be better to live in fantasy world and think man this subs handling 5000 watts!!! Woohoo! I can say unless there's more than enough power to go around efficiency is important my cab45 pushes my old two xr15s noticably better than my new 18 I just built... I will say I used a big power spider by accident it was a 12" 5 layer spider I thought it was a 3 layer so that's a lot of resistance to flex and and all together a lot of mass to move but I never though a 5k amp wouldnt be sufficient but just when it starts to show it's potential it starts to clip😞

It feels like it’s making power, probably my imagination since I paid a lot of coin for it. (Lot of coin to me, I know it’s probably not much to most peeps)

      @marcuslinton310 Pƙed 2 lety

      I seriously doubt there is a difference you can actually hear between any of these if you compare equal size and power. The companies you mention are all legit brands and aren't going to make inferior products. When it comes to bass, 50hz is 50hz, 40hz is 40hz, etc, etc... 50hz isn't going to sound different from each speaker, not even between sizes. The only difference you hear is loudness between sizes and power. if you have a 12" speaker from each company all side by side that can handle 500 watts and you run them all at 300 watts and have somebody switch between them while you are blindfolded and have you pick which is which, it would end up no better than random guessing hit and miss. Run the test 10 times through to be sure.

      @marcuslinton310 Pƙed 2 lety

      @@JViello So you're suggesting 50hz sounds different between every sub? I don't think so. The only time any difference comes in to play is their power handling and construction quality/durability. If one sub says 500 max, it may still handle 600 fairly well, but another brand may even go to 700 or even 1000 even though it says 500max. But all the name brand subs have no issues handling below and up to their max rms while putting out a quality sound and if I knew you personally I would challenge you to $1,000 bet that you'd never be able to tell the difference in a blind test. All you are hearing is a sound level increase, loudness between each sub due their construction and quality.

    • @marcuslinton310
      @marcuslinton310 Pƙed 2 lety

      @@JViello I should have also asked the original commenter to please define "balanced sound" and "good strong bass". These would suggest more to do with location of speakers for a balanced sound and simply more power for good strong bass. These factors have nothing to do with the sub itself other then power handling when dealing with quality brand subwoofers. Of course we need more information as to what all he changed when he went to the Tropo 8's vs what he had with the other brand subs. You can't change a bunch of stuff around and then compare the sound and call it equal. You can only swap out the speakers.
