You are the definition of not all heroes wear capes, when I am feeling a bit more confident, I will attempt this mod!! Will purchase the temalone.
Tremalone*
I think your trem jig is really great. The only thing I think might improve it is that you could put a small 1/8 hole through the center of the removable studs. This would give you a more precise centered pilot hole to drill your stud holes.
Just a thought. Great idea. I hope you make a million 😊
I was thinking the same.
It’s not hard to add such a hole, but it is a separate step, and would be a bit fiddly keeping a round, plastic thing stable and intact.
I can think of ways, but I’m getting annoyed imagining the tedium…
I was thinking the same thing.
You can probably easily drill one thru the printed plastic material.
or you could go to harbour freight and get a set of center punches for like $ 20.00 and be very precise, a vex drill bit would also work
It's awesome that he has a Steve Vai influence and I can hear it in what he's playing on the guitar. I love Steve Vai's music.
I always been puzzled that Floyd Rose didn't come with something like this, or at least a template of sorts... good one!
Good on them! Made us use our brains 😉
Great piece of kit!! It's very likely someone has already suggested this but here it goes: How about the Tremalone is one single piece (3D printed studs and base) and the holes on top of the studs go all the way, this way, instead of removing the 3D printed studs and drill with a big ass drill bit, you drill with a very small drill bit and the tremalone works as a guide to make sure your holes are perfectly square to the guitar body.
Cheers!!!
I came to say the same thing. 👍🏼
Glad I stayed til the end, that’s some killer Modal stuff!!!
First of all, you are a GENIUS. The product I got from your Reverb page arrived quickly and works and looks great! This is a great idea here! I'll be watching you. I can't wait to see what you come up with next! Thanks, and keep up the good work!
That's a neat piece of kit you have there. Great innovation.
Best part was your playing .. beautiful!
You did an amazing job on this!!
Fantastic idea. And awesome vibrato at the end, man.
IMPRESSIVE playing! Love your style. Sweet jig. I ordered a Vega bridge and locking tuners for my baretta special in candy blue. If only I’d seen this video earlier. Cheers!
This was absolutely phenomenal. I honestly think I will try your product.
DUDE! thanks for this video. Thinking about getting another B Special and do this. Thanks again
Great video...ive been wanting one of these guitars since they came out.
Wow mate your little 3d printed jigs are incredible! Amazing work! If I ever desire to "floyd" a fender one day I will definitely be buying this little setup from you!
Good work! Nice solo at the end, too! I´m subscribed.
Amazing invention, and great video!
Beautiful playing, man 🙌
You had me at "Questionable Guitar Mods". 😁
This is brilliant!
Awesome! Love the Kramer Baretta Special guitars!
These guitars are MUH-NEEEEEE!
Considering it's solid mahogany body and maple neck, all for under $200 buck, it's a modifiers dream
That is a great idea! I’ll definitely order some next time I do a floyd swap
Love your playing style
Dude, that thing is awesome 👌
I’ve got one of these on order
Looking forward to doing this to my Barretta
Seems like the easiest method
Awesome! Wish I had something like this years ago, when i wanted to replace my trem with a Floyd Rose! Subbed!
Love your playing
Great work
Nice, and the cool ending too ala Vai meets Devin Townsend.
I commend you on a really cool invention for locating the new Tremolo studs but I'm surprised you didn't think to create a router template to perfectly rout the tremolo cavity using a proper router and router bit. It would be easy to print one of those out specially if you figured out how to create and print your first tool. Hope you don't think I'm insulting you, not at all just throwing an idea out in case you didn't already think about it. Routing with a proper template and router will produce a much cleaner cavity and preserve the paint if taped off properly. Love the upgraded Kramer, those guitars kick ass and I really like the tool you created I build guitars and would love to buy one of those! Keep up the great work man!
Every new guitar that I build, or upgrade, I use the Gotoh 1996t.! I can’t wait to see the next video.!!
Great trem, used it for the first time on this one, but it's a keeper for sure
what a great product
Cool, original idea!
Best System ever! Great
Honestly, a great idea. The only thing I can think of that might make it even better is including a 12mm disk with a hole in it large enough for a center punch or a small drill bit, so those who aren't using 12mm bushings have a really easy way to mark the center for their drill bit.
Thank you, and yes the new version of this already has the pilot holes
Awesome guitar and video!
thanks!
Nice idea. Hope everyone paid attention that this is specific design to work only on this model guitar.
Genius and affordable. Ty
excellent video....... good Lydian Mode
Great idea
That purple gold and black look amazing though! I bought the white one with the black headstock.
Can't wait to get my Tremalone from you, I am going to modify it slightly and move it back so there is no visible tremolo hole behind the Floyd, maybe 3-5mm, I know it will make the scale slightly longer than 25.5 to maybe 25.75
Ordered the Tremalone and the shims!! Can't wait to mod my Baretta!!
thank you!
Great Idea 💡
slick little jig.
Worth sticking around for the solo at the end.
Very nicely done you made the swap to a Floyd Rose look so simple!
how so he sanded without covering the pickup
@@Good-Enuff-Garagemurder and treason! it's not the end of the world idiot 😭
okay... this is brilliant...
I have returned my Baretta at Thomann's when I figured out that instead putting $150 more on accessories, I could buy à B-Stock Kramer vintage for the same price ! The Kramer vintage sounds great and has a factory Floyd Rose tremolo and better locks and nuts.
That gold trem looks great with that guitar
Very nice! Μπράβο!
1 minute in and I started looking if you are Greek.
Bless the accent
Awesome 🥰
I used this on my blue Kramer Baretta. I drilled out the bushings carefully. I used a drill press, I'd recommend anyone doing this use a drill press. I also reluctantly routed my body using a compact router. The shims work well, they should be pre-drilled to make it easier. But I'm happy with the install. A machinist can make you hard metal bushings for perfect drilling.
I want to give this a go one day doesn’t seem too hard and it would make the guitar a million times better
Nice idea. A few suggestions would be to elongate the mounting holes so you have the option to dial in the scale length. You could also press in some 3mm drill bushings in the pull-out studs so you can start a 3mm pilot hole and know you are drilling dead center.
Agreed. Could have some bushings machined easily to spec as mentioned ensuring perfect alignment. If you want double use your 3D printed studs, add a hole in yours. But for multiple use for a guitar tech I'd use a metallic material.
A great idea to an already great start to a DIY mod!!!
Or everyone could realize this is installed completely wrong and does not function correctly. This is NOT how Floyd Rose tremelo bridges are supposed to be mounted in the body of the guitar.
@@mrbojangles311 how so?
@@davespin9034 Well the thing is, people have been installing Two stud floating Vibratos for about 40 years so there is already proven methods to do it without this. However the previous comment by @mrbojangles311 is referring to most modern installs recessing the bridge into the body rather than surface mounting the bridge.
tasty soloing, by the way!
Neat gadget!!
Might need to make a disgusting tele build with one of these! Thank you for demoing this!
Looks cool? The a tion is so good on these neck low and no buzz at all does this raise the Acton more thanks for the vision.
That's a great tool you made! Where did you get the red tremolo from? I've been using Jackson jt580 trems which the same as a Floyd pro but way less money! Plus I like the small Allen screws that are just behind the saddles that lock down the string block's instead of going all the way through and out the back like most are
Great idea!! What was that loud hum at the end?
This is a great device to facilitate this conversation. If the plastic fit up studs had a through hole for center punching that would make it even more fool proof.
They do have a hole in the center, thank you
@@QGMODS oh cool. Watched on my phone so I guess I couldn't see on the small screen. 😊
this is really good, does it dive bomb well??
I will be buying the 3D printed shims, much easier than shaving the head removing the hump and custom cutting a piece of maple shim. Something everyone should do before installing a floyd style top mounting nut is see how far off center the truss rod access is. My Gotoh nut caused the screw to blow out the wood wall of the truss rod groove. I had to make and glue in a custom bridging piece of wood with an arch to clear the Allen wrench access to the truss rod. This could happen even with this excellent 3D printed shim. As the saying goes, measure twice cut once.
fun fact - jackson js32 now come with this tremalone thingy. never seen it before but its on my new js32.
Thanks
I was crying a bit seeing you remove that wood without even thinking about the dust getting in the pickup, lol.
lol
Great! Great job, I have a guitar to do a makeover like that. Is this tremalone a tool? This would break me a branch in the installation.
i use acetone and Q-tips to get rid of old glue. It's usually CA that's used.
I've understood everything in this video, its very good but what are those plastic pieces you put inbetween the neck and the body and where can i buy them in the right size/angle?
Can you tell me more about the neck shims you used? How much did you raise the neck? Thanks
I kinda like the pink and gold look
Wow... Amazing. What is that thing you use for the neck shim? is there a template for that?
Cheers
This is genius, love it. Am I right in thinking that it would also be compatible with fender/squier Strats?
Theoretically yes, but not sure, didn't try it on Ferders. Good thing is i've made so if ever get a strat i can test fit it before committing to drilling for studs
Should make the temp studs good for pilot drilling so it would be dead center. Then you can use any other drill bit after that
There IS a hole at the top of the studs exactly for this reason, i just yolo'd it :)
What kind of neck shims did you use? What material and size?
Without the big trem route can the floyd style trem dive in and out completely?
You need to have an 1/8" starter hole in your black mount screws for the Floyd Rose. To center any of the different size body nuts.
The new version has these. Thank you
Thank you for the informative video.
I’m curious as to how did you go about painting the red FU-Tone bridge?
I watched the OU812 mod video a while back but I don’t remember you showing the bridge painting process.
I’m thinking about painting a Floyd Rose bridge red as well.
Thanks!
Not sure how he did it, but I would just use automotive wheel/engine paint.
Designed to withstand a lot, and specifically with metal in mind.
Then it’s just, well, being good at spray painting.
So… it take it to a local auto painting place and negotiate a price lol. I ain’t good enough with a spray can.
you can actually put a piece of a toothpick into the holes for where the neck connects to the body, to make them act "fresh" and strong again.
also I would replace all screws with stainless steel for more sustain.
Is the red one repainted? do you use powder coating or just using spray?
parabéns menino!
String height at the nut is not an issue with the shim?
Good Idea though. Like others suggested. A center hole with the plastic studs would be useful.
Nice playing.
Hi. What's the locking nut dimension? Thanks
Will this work with a Stratocaster guitar or just this kramer?
14:28 putting that supplement on the neck pocket doesn't affect the sustain?
Hello, how you gets red floyd rose ?
I so wish this came up on my feed earlier! That nut shim device is genius. Does it also work on Fenders or is it only for Kramer only?
I'm pretty sure it would not work with a Fender; the Kramer Baretta Special uses a Gibson-style nut.
@@King_Kuya Thanks for clarifying!
Brother, please... 🙏🙏🙏... tell me where you bought that red floyd rose !
So what just happened with the neck shims? Do you supply those?
Qual o nome dessa peça que usou embaixo do lock nut?
See a need find a solution, good job.
Very cool, Sir! Is the Floyd dive only like EVH? Or floating?
Slightly floating but mostly goes down
Is can I buy the File for my 3-D printer
Those 3D printed shims are genius! Would have saved me some headaches when I was trying to install a floyd on my old LTD. Do you think they'd work ok on other models or just Kramers?
No these shims are just from kramer baretta specials.
What size shim for neck?
